Lucky ?

We were lucky in the league i will admit but i am surprised you kept it under 10 tonight

Our side was made up of under 10's and over 40's, with the occasional unfit Torres.

Still no excuse though. Why go to a rejuvinated side and play a mainly inexperienced team? Good way to build overall team confidence.

BUT...nevermind. Tis only the crapling cup. Man U lost 3-0 at home to York in it about a decade ago and swanned away with (well it was either the double or the treble)

That was horrible and shitty. Terrible team from the off! Torres was lumped in at the deep end and just wasn't ready, Ngog needs a support striker, Babel couldn't be fucking arsed, El Zhar is a bit too lightweight without bigger players nearby, Lucas kept fouling people, Plessis couldn't pass for toffee, Degen was arse, Dossena was arse, Hyppia kept drifting in and out and Cavialeri wasn't too assured. Agger was pretty good, THAT'S IT. FUCK.

Couldn't give a shit about going out, but was still pissed off with the first-half performace.

Feel sorry for all the fans who were served up that display and disappointed that the fringe players didn't see it more as an opportunity.

Anyway, one less set of fixtures to clog up the schedule - I'm more annoyed that the home game against West Ham won't be moved, so I'll be scurrying around to get to that game (on a Monday night).

Congrats, Spurs - good luck for the rest of the competition.

No I mean lucky that Gomes came off. I doubt we'll be seeing him again in the Premiership. Although, of course, I hope he's fine after his knock.

Of course we bleedin' will, he just had a bad game. He had a great one at City over the weekend and before that he's been playing with bruised ribs. Besides Cesar looked massively shaky when he came on, spilled easy catches and had no control of his box.

Uh, he really didn't. Cesar looked very assured but he still doesn't deserve to and won't start over Gomes. Sorry to crash the Liverpool thread but to say that about Cesar when he only touched the ball about 3 times sounds a bit harsh.

He's been a laughing stock since signing to be honest. Or maybe I'm just being harsh, although I doubt it, I'm usually 100% right, 100% of the time!

The injury to Gomes disrupted the momentum it looking like we may've been building.

What's your call on the penalty shout (Bale on Degen)?

Penalty. And we'd have gone on to draw. So in a sense, Spurs were lucky, but it's not something to worry about really. Premiership needs to come first, after all, it's the first time in over a decade we actually have a chance.

He spilled the ball (which Gomes didn't tonight) and didn't communicate with Corluka when he put it our for a corner. Maybe massively shaky is harsh but I don't want to see him as first choice between the sticks. Gomes made 2 mistakes all night, OK they were big ones but the rest of the match he was doing fine. He's miles better than Cesar but he needs to get his jumping and movement back to what it was before he got injured as he was dominating from set pieces before and now he's not.

I don't mind Gomes but he WAS massively shaky and at fault for both their goals. One decent game at City doesn't mean his shocking form should be forgotten so easily. I don't think he has what it takes to deal with the better crosses shoved down his throat at Premiership level. As a character I like him though.

Can't say I remember Cesar spilling the ball, if he did it was because he saw it late.

Anyways, let's take it to the Spurs thread :)

No, you're being a media led non-Spurs fan. At the start of the season he was excellent when everyone around him was shite, he kept us in the game against Chelsea and made plenty of great saves. Then he got injured in training, bruised some ribs, got knocked out and then KO'd Corluka by accident and he's retreated into his shell a bit too much.

He touched the ball and even then we were never lucky :)

You were lucky you weren't 6-0 down in the first half, more like!

:P
