Ok so it wasn't a penalty, but we should have had one for a clear hand ball earlier on in the game and we desearved something cause we completely controlled that second half. Then again, any result no matter how controversial is better than no result.

In fairness to Atletico, they had a couple of shouts as well. I'm slightly embarrassed we scraped a draw like that.

And why do all the commentators refer to them as AtHletico. It's Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madid, not a spanglish comination of the two.

Apparently the linesman flagged so the ref was probably quite glad the pressure was taken off him. Not quite sure what the linesman saw but maybe from his angle it looked like the defender barged him a bit.

Not a penalty but we did more than enough to earn a point so that'll do I guess.

Echo the sentiments in here already, I even felt a bit sorry for them in the end but I think we deserved at least a draw over the course of the game.

It has suddenly become like watching Liverpool from the previous seasons again the past two games!

The refereeing the entire game was a joke and in the end he completely lost the plot booking Aguero for having a shot?!

Gerrard Cons a Draw

A shameful piece of gamesmanship by con-artist Steven Gerrard in front of the Kop earned Liverpool a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid with the Pool captain winning and converting a 95th min pen.

Every now and again Football365 pisses me off and I vow to stop reading it. I think I might actually do it this time.

The penalty decision was a disgrace. Had it gone the other way the commentators would have been furious. If anything Gerrard launched himself at the other chap, who had his eyes on the ball. Then their players get booked for it?

Shocking.

But, at least it's a point!

Frankly, I couldn't give a shit if it was a dodgy penalty or not. Other teams get them. We moan. Their fans moan about us moaning. Other way round? Fuck 'em.

Yeah fair enough but I just thought...you know its REALLY dodgy that one!

I loved the way he was pronoucning N'gog, myself. Sounded like he was choking. Maybe he was pronouncing it right, who knows, who knows.

I think he was. uNgo.

Looks like they got it spot on.

I'm not disputing that it was a crap decision: I don't think it should have been a penalty, but, for me, Gerrard wasn't looking for it and it certainly wasn't a dive. It reminds me a little of the ridiculous penalty that Chelsea got at Anfield last season. That one wasn't a dive either, it was just a really crap decision by the officials.

Their fans were amazing, I have not seen supporters like that in a while, I too feel their were hard done by the draw but we are happy to take it. What worries me is the clear lack of another quality striker, going forward we were an absolute mess last night.
