2145: "If Liverpool win today it is the best start for any Premier League team in a Premier League, eight wins and two draws. I remember Chelsea under Mourinho going on a similar run."

Absolutely brilliant, next game will be tricky against Harry's Tottenham. They may well break the run but I think we'll be too strong, hopefully with Torres back.

Also, Babel imo plays much better up front than winger. I think a Torres-Babel strikeforce would be lethal.

I bet he can't deliver a inch perfect pass like Fabregas, is that not a skill in itself?

Like I said, Fabregas is a wonderful player but he's not a one band. He needs a decent midfield partner beside him. Messi just needs the ball.

This in theory is potentially our toughest fixture over the next while. They'll be motivated for sure but there are still a few obvious weaknesses in their team.

Tell me about it. The funny thing is if it's Man Utd or Chelsea they say "Getting 3 points when you don't play at your best is a sign of a true championship winning side!".

I think the difference is that Chelsea or Man Utd have one game in five where they play badly and still pick up three points. With Liverpool at the moment it seems like every game (with the exception of the Chelsea and Man Utd games funnily enough). You don't win the league by playing poorly in every game. Still, they seem to be making a good go at it.

I see what you're saying, but can't agree with it at all. Surely everyone in the squad relies in some form or another on other players?

Cesc requires a more defensive minded midfielder alongside him to allow him a certain freedom, surely Messi requires a left/right back to cover the gaps he leaves? I would say playing that creative midfield role requires more discipline and spacial awareness, another huge skill. Same applies to Xavi, his appreciation of space and awareness is unbelievable at times.

saw that famous portsmouth supporter outside the ground afterwards. the one that

wears a that top hat and all the badges. apparantly everything in his house is branded with portsmouth fc except the toilet papers thats southampton.

Very true although Messi doesn't require cover as such for club or country. He's up front in a forward 3 for Barca and in a forward 2 for Argentina. He does track back just to make up the numbers when necessary (including receiving the ball in his own half last season only to take it round 5 opponents and scoring). Fabregas didn't play well last night and perhaps hasn't got anywhere near the heights of last season when he played with Flamini. It doesn't matter who plays with Messi, he's exceptional and it's all down to his dribbling ability. Fabregas is a superb talent that can't flourish in certain situations. That's my point and that's why I rate the Argentinian above all. Fabregas has a lot of time left in his career. Who knows how good he will eventually be.

Link is fine for me. The content is, frankly, bollocks though.

We may not have been playing our best-ever football, but we have pressured teams into conceding mistakes. Alonso is playing superbly, forcing teams into fouling him to try and get the ball. That's not luck at all. Luck is Alonso's deflected goal at Chelsea. Skill is keeping on the pressure and defending resolutely.

Yeah, great joke mate.

Are Liverpool the luckiest team ever to top the Premier League?

is an article on a website run by a friend. Hands on heart, does anyone agree with this?

Nope.

Winning when 2-1 down against ten men is actually quite impressive in my opinion. Having the creativity to open up a team twice when they're a man down and doing everything they can to hold onto the lead is something that I don't think we'd have managed last season.

In both the Man Utd and Everton games we were well on top and winning before the red cards. In neither match did a fightback look particularly likely before the dismissal.

About the only point I'd agree with is that 0-0 at home against Stoke was a poor result.

In short, as Commander Jameson said, it's bollocks.

What the fuck is this bit about, its a mess:

"Liverpool’s other results give a good indication as to what happens when they don’t get lucky. 0-0 at home to Stoke, 2-1 against Crewe, 0-0 and 1-0 against Standard Liege and 0-0 against Villa. That certainly isn’t championship form"

Well considering only 2 out of those 5 was in the premiership, and not consecutive, and also we still kept a clean sheet and didn't lose, what the fuck has that got to do with championship form? Can this guy have seen us beat Everton 2-0 for instance? That was the least "lucky" win you'll see. Yeah we're really lucky that one of the worlds best strikers has been injured for us for the last few games, in which time we still managed to end Chelseas unbeaten record.

It's funny now these bitter Man Utd and Chelsea supporters who are used to getting their own way are coming out the woodwork, worried that their scoffing at our title credentials before the season started might come back to hit them in the face. I'm loving it, its about time we became hated.

It's funny how we're a "lucky" team because we can't even manager to beat Stoke at home, but Chelsea only drew with Spurs at home who are currently at the bottom of the league with only 1 win and yet they aren't classed as lucky. At least Stoke have managed to win 3 games.

I would so love us to win to league for 2 reasons. One because I'm a Liverpool fan and I want the Premiership more than anything, but the other, to shut up those Man U and Chelsea fans who can't hack another team being better than them. Also who the fuck do Chelsea think they are? They've only been a big force in the Prem over the past 4 years and thats only because of their money, they act as if they've been winning championships left right and centre for the last 30 years. At least Man U have some history to back them up.

Football, it's a funny old game.

If you look at any of the teams that have won the Prem, they've been "lucky" to do so. Chelsea did a great line in 86th minute winners when they should have drawn 0-0 or even lost. United used to play badly for 95 minutes, then get a last-gasp winner and, you might remember, when the blue shite finished above us in the lague in 2005, they ground out loads of 1-0 wins that they should never have won. It's just they way of football.

So bollocks, basically.

Guys what's the Torres status for tomorrow? I really hope he at least makes the bench, we'll probably need him.

He's certainly been training as there where pictures of him online. Not even making the bench the other night doesn't fill me with hope though. It's a game made for Robbie Keane for sure.

How many deflected Lampard/Jo cole goals helped Chelsea out the past few years when they were winning things? Were Chelsea shit? No - except on Sunday*

*but we made them shit
