Yeah and although we have Torres out, they've got Drogba, Cole, Essien and Ballack out. And although they did amazingly against Middlesbrough with a cut down team, Boro played fucking shit. Could go either way. It'd be pretty amazing if we beat them at home, considering their record. I'll be surprised and fucking well happy if we win though. It'll be such a massive thing for Liverpool if we won. The confidence that'd give us would be amazing.

reading a few comments in the papers surprised me this morning:

Scolari is full of praise for us. Not the usual "ah yes, they are a big team, with good players" generic stuff that even Benitez comes out with about even the most useless opposition. He seems genuinely impressed with our recent playing. none of the Mourinhio type nonsense :P

Venebles is an idiot. Apparently if we lose against Chelsea theres "no way" we can win the title this year. WTF? Even if we lose against Chelsea, whats to say they won't lose their next two games (away of course, given their home record). I accept his point that our form against the other members of the "big 4" isn't great, but one result before xmas isn't likely to change the entire season.

Fergerson reckons Chelsea v Liverpool isn't even a big game. Why on earth would the top 2 teams playing each other not be a big game, especially given our recent rivalry with them? Apparently Arsenal v Chelsea is though, even though they are 4 points behind either of us. You'd think being 6 points (before the weekend's games) behind the top 2 would give Fergie something to think about before dismissing other games.

If he's talking about the rivalry between the clubs then he's right anyway. None of us like Chelsea but it's a recent thing. There is a rivalry between the two clubs, due to our history, the fact that they've been making their own in the last few years, the amount of times we've had to play each other since Rafa took over, the amount of big games between the two clubs in that time, the obvious mutual contempt between Rafa and Mourinho, etc. Even taking all that into account, Man Utd. and Everton are bigger rivalries for us, by a long stretch. Chelsea v Arsenal is a derby game, you'd think the feeling between fans would be more hostile in a game like that. I'm not sure it's the same for their fans as it is for us, though; they really seem to hate us.

Coming from London I realise that (and I know about QPR - Chelsea all too well given that my family is predominantly made up of QPR fans, with a few Chelsea and some Arsenal thrown in for good measure). I'm just saying that it adds an edge to games when you're having to deal with fans of the opposition all week after the game. Something most Liverpool fans don't have to worry about when the Chelsea fixtures roll round. I do, though. ;)

Haven't seen Liverpool pass that well for years. Haven't seen them pass that well against decent opposition evah!

Holding on a tad for the last 10 minutes but did the job well. Just can't lost to Portsmouth at home midweek now.
