Liverpool Football Club

Personally, I don't want to hear a sound from either of the owners or Dubai. Just let the team get on with playing football and worry about the rest in the summer.

Well said. No more Gillet and Hicks / DIC / new stadium from here on in. It's irrelevent for the next 8 months and we have a chance of having a go at the League title for once. Man Utd and Chelsea seem to have a never ending succession of injuries and personally I think this is a transitional season for Arsenal.

No background bullshit, no injuries, no more signings or sales and I think we'll at last be truely competitive at the top of the Premier League.

Hopefully we'll be fine this season, but I'm thinking longer term. It's sadly an unromantic fact that those with more money tend to do better. Chelsea bought the league, as did Blackburn out of nothing, Newcastle almost did when they were throwing money for players. Man City will instantly be title contenders after the transfer window reopens.

I don't subscribe to this idea at all. They've been linked with an endless succession of players like Ronaldo, Torres, Fabregas etc and they haven't a hope of getting one of them.

I hope you're right but if they do get a couple more megastars then they'll likely be top contenders.

You'd have probably said the same about Robinho though?

I don't think it'll take that long. As soon as Hughes is out the door and an attractive manager takes over I don't see why all the big stars won't come over. Although I can't see it starting with Ronaldo, Torres or Fabregas.

Robinho went because he just wanted an exit from Madrid. In footballing terms, it was a step down, but he didn't care. They'll have an awful amount of trouble getting big-name players from premier league rivals, that's for sure. "As soon as Hughes is out the door"... what? Why the hell would they replace him? He's a brilliant manager, and young enough to build a real legacy at the club if the owners will let him. Anyway, megastars doesn't mean you end up playing better football.

Yeah but Robinho was heading to Chelsea wasn't he? So I imagine a fatter wage persuaded him to City.

Hughes is a pretty good manager but he doesn't really fit the bill as the manager of the richest club in the World. He'll be gone soon enough if you ask me.

I agree. I just think it can wait until the end of the season. All the speculation completely overshadowed what was going on on the pitch last season and I'd hate to see it happen again. I just want the players and the manager focusing on maintaining our current momentum.

I never have and still don't rate Robinho. He's by no means a bad player but for me he's certainly not world class. Now I've said that he'll score against us today.

Man City are counter attacking against us really effectively, all of their forward players are playing well but both goals were really disappointing.

The first was from an Aurelio mistake and the second Reina's positioning was pretty dodgy for the free kick :/.
