<_< he's a legend

AND HE'S JUST BEEN BROUGHT ON

Latest from BBC:

1622: The ball breaks to Fernando Torres, who is 12 yards from goal. He seems nailed on to score but his shot skims off Leon Cort's face and flies over the crossbar. Ryan Babel comes on for Albert Riera. Will Liverpool ever find the net (legitimately).

Ah balls, that was frustrating. Shame about the disallowed goal, which looked like it should have stood and if it had then we'd probably have got three or four but c'est la vie we still had long enough to make the decision inconsequential. Fair play to Stoke, they came and parked the bus and why not?

Easy to get wound up and think it's a mirror of last season but it's still early days and it wasn't like we didn't create anything, we just lacked some killer instinct. That is of course a worry but we've the perfect opportunity to make amends next weekend.

In the meantime, I hope United and Chelsea kick lumps out of each other.

Beating Man U was hardly "same old story".

True. More - do something great, do something a bit crap that could come back to slap us later in the season.

Whatever you may say, not beating Stoke at home is a poor show. A poor show indeed.

I was thinking the same thing before seeing the game on Saturday. I couldn't even be bothered to post in here I was that pissed off. However, watching the game eased my concerns a little because we created so much. We were unfortunate with the referee's decision for Gerrard's goal, played some nice football and created more than enough chances to win the game. In the games we drew last season we generally weren't creating chances, so this is more encouraging. It was obviously a blow and we really should have won but I do feel that there are some positives to take from the performance. Once Gerrard, Torres and Keane find their sharpness we'll be flying. We've got a dodgy patch of fixtures coming up now and I think they'll provide an indication as to whether or not we really have progressed from last season.

Exactly.

Those just looking at the result and lazily comparing it to the likes of last season's B'ham result (for example) in order to moan about 'same-old, same-old' are wide of the mark.

Yep, big five games coming up - dare I say 'make-or-break' this early?

Quite right. Hopefully next year we'll create even more chances against the likes of Stoke at home. This will show we are heading in the right direction! Only a fool would just look just at very similar results to previous years and claim the same old same old. People should instead look at all the squandered chances. That's the mark of a great team.

Taking those chances would be the mark of a great team, no? ^_^

Yes! But it's been the story of the last few years. As I said last year it's AMAZING how many times lfc.tv use the headline RAFA RUES MISSED CHANCES.

And as we all know I put missed chances down to bad finishing where others put it down to just bad luck.

So how does it differ from the seasons before? We're still iffing and butting on the fact that we've been unlucky to not beat a poor team.

I guess the upside was being crap against, say, Boro and stealing the points ^_^
