Yeah, watched the game on LFC TV last night. It was actually pretty good! Ngog did look sweet, and Torres and Keane linked up nicely.

I'm really pleased with Dossena as well, really energetic, fast and strong. Brilliant signing. Did an amazing goal line clearance yesterday.

What's this on the BBC website rumours bit about Arsenal putting in £16 for Alonso? I don't want to see Alonso go anywhere, let alone somewhere else in the premiership.

If Benitez is going to sell Alonso, we should take Villa's stance and not settle for anything less than £18m. Then take Spurs's stance and add a few million to the price if an English club want him.

It's about time we got some decent money for a player - especially one that no one wants to see leave (I don't believe Rafa does either, only selling as he needs the cash).

Another 4 goal haul tonight and the team is looking a lot sharper. Alonso was outstanding for a while and I thought Spearing played very well. Full 90 minutes again for Agger. Torres still looks absolutely deadly but I don't think Keane has fully adjusted yet. Our crop of youngsters are outstanding but it's fair to say Ngog looks a bit more accomplished than most of them. I cannot fucking wait for this season to start. We've so much potential and we should be able to push Man Utd and Chelsea closer than before.

I don't know how serious Gerrard's injury is and he didn't look right from the first minute.

After tonight's match, I'll be even more gutted to see Alonso go - he was our best player in the first half. Brilliant to see the youngsters getting such a run out, played some really nice stuff.

Interesting to see Finnan, Pennant and Voronin weren't even on the bench. Looks like they'll be off then.

I'm still a little worried about the depth of our squad. If Pennant does go, we'll need at least one more wide player. Ok we might not play with conventional wide player a lot next season, but having one in the squad would be good. Who can cross.

Speaking of crossing, Dosssena was excellent again. Kuyt played really well too. Good performance all round really.

So Ngog scored again last night, thats great news. Obviously he's untested in the Premiership but he's bagged 2 in the last 2 games so hopefully this will raise his confidence and he'll perform well for us in the Prem. Interesting that Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, Yossi Benayoun and David Ngog have been the scorers of both the last 2 matches. I havn't been able to catch all the games, just wanted to know how Alonso is doing? I heard he's playing pretty good, which is obviously a massive plus if we aren't gonna get Barry.

I'm not to worried about Gerrard being out for the CL qualifier, I'm sure we've got a good enough team to win without him. I'd rather have him rested for the start of the Prem.

Alonso'll go, unfortunately. He's not going to hang around being third choice. I wonder if he's fallen out with Rafa or something. It's all very strange. Didn't something happen at the end of last season or something? Alonso didn't want to go somewhere.

I really don't think Rafa wants to sell him. But he's the only one who'll bring in enough money, without sacrificing too much (as Barry would be able to play in his position). Rafa's been playing 4-4-2 a lot, so I can see Barry playing on the left with Gerrard, Alonso and Masch competing for the central positions.

With Masch and Lucas at the Olympics and Gerrard injured, it wouldn't surprise me to see Alonso playing in the Champions League next week. That'd decrease his value (as he'd be cup-tied), and there's no way we'd be selling him then.

Apparently the Barry deal is pay half now, half next year. So if we do sell Pennant, Voronin and Finnan, we can afford to get Barry without selling Alonso.

This was what I was thinking about.

Rafa does have the reputation of being uncrossable, you cross him and you're out unless you're Steven Gerrard. I love Alonso. You can see even when he's scored in these last couple of games he doesn't smile. He knows he's gone. I don't think it's anything to do with money. I think Rafa wants Barry to replace Alonso.

Liverpool could have raised some of the cash to finance a move for Gareth Barry with the sale of Dirk Kuyt - but the Reds scared off Hamburg with their £16m valuation of the Dutch striker. (Daily Mail)

I would've hoped more for a 'he's not for sale' rather than giving him a valuation :)

Honestly - this just shows we have no money.

I'd heard that he wanted to miss a game to be with his wife who was having a baby and Rafa wasn't happy about it. Dunno how true that is, just word on the grapevine.

^ I would be happier to see Alonso staying, Kuyt going.

Hello

Im going to my first game at Anfield tomorrow against Lazio and need some advice off the forum pool fans.

Where is the best place to park a car when going to watch a match? preferably near to the stadium.

Thank you

Well last few times I've been we parked in near by car park(ish). There's a petrol station accross the road from the main stadium car park, but charges £20 a stay and there's a small plot of land just up the road (sorry don't know driections) that you can park cars on for something like a tenner. Other than that, it's trying to find a near by street to park on.

Liverpool have done it again, they have turned down a good offer for one of their players and slapped a huge fee on him, in this case it is Dirk Kuyt.

It seems that Benitez simply cannot help himself, he knows no one will pay £16 million for a average premiership player in the same way he knew that Juventus would not pay stupid money for Alonso or Aston Villa for Carson.

And then what happens?

Benitez ends up selling cheaply and unable to afford to buy the players he desires, and even then when he does get a player he ends up paying excessively for them as in the case of Robbie Keane, Benitez must rank as one of the poorest managers in the transfer business.

The Germans are reportedly furious with Benitez, they have made a decent offer and for the Liverpool hierarchy to come back with such a crazy figure has astonished them and Hamburg have made it abundantly clear they simply will not entertain such ludicrous demands.

Liverpool, and its manager and board, need to have a sit down and have a hard look at themselves, they must realize that they are becoming a joke in football and that they need to be more realistic in their valuations.

Liverpool are a great club with fantastic tradition and Benitez has done miracles with them getting them to two Champions League finals but he is now undoing such good work and the truth is the team he is building now, apart from the obvious Torres and Gerrard, is very lightweight and they are in danger of having yet another poor season in the league.

Hamburg will now turn their attentions elsewhere, Kuyt may be a half decent player but not £16 million worth and Hamburg as everyone else knows will find other targets just as good for half the price.

I really hope the guy who wrote that is a Villa fan.

I have to say I can't see how we would manage at the beginning of the season if we sell Xabi. We have Gerrard who is currently injured, Mascherano and Lucas who are going to the Olympics and Alonso. You replace Alonso with Barry and you still have just 2 centre midfielders with anything like the premiership experience you would wish to start a premiership title campaign with. We MUST not sell Alonso to make way for Barry. If anything I reckon Pennant, Voronin and Finnan should go as there positions are covered better already.

Also, whats the rubbish above about? It doesn't even state how much was offered for Kuyt. 16 mil is over the top but if Hamburg offered say 8million then they are having a laugh too. Also, who said we wanted to sell him?
