Hopefully Pacheco gets a full 45 minutes. Good to see Leto again, he looked good in flashes the other night. Hopefully Babel will be at least a tiny bit fit and hopefully he'll not be so disinterested this time. ;)

For all the talk of us being in trouble with the lack of Barry signing and Lucas & Mascherano buggering off to the Olympics, it has to be said that Plessis has yet to put a foot wrong.

It's probably the Olympics that Babel has in mind - he doesn't exactly want to get injured for that after missing Euro 2008.

Coverage is about to start on C5 for those interested.

I hope that's sarcasm? ;)

Haha, yes it was.

EDIT: Well, actually...

it has to be said that Plessis has yet to put a foot wrong.

Been pretty much my MOM in every game I've seen him play. Including this one, I reckon.

I'm watching. Liking the performances of Darby and Plessis; they look capable of breaking into the first time. Leto on the other hand looks downright pish.

Did you see Plessis against Arsenal at the Emirates last season? Utterly superb display.

I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence. This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

Looks like as long as Liverpool can stump up the money Keane is a certainty for Liverpool. Getting very excited meself.

Voronin worked his socks off tonight - trying to stop Benitez from selling him no doubt - but he was still a bit rubbish. I felt a bit sorry for him.

Pennant and Leto didn't do a thing between them. God we need wingers  Apparently Valencia would be willing to selling Silva, possibly for around £16m. If we could scrape together enough from sales for Barry and Keane, then sell Alonso to cover the Silva fee, I'd be happy with that.

Darby impressed again. I think he'll be in and around the squad this season, especially with the new 7-subs rule.

Cavalieri looked useful, made a couple of good saves.

The 2 new full backs were bombing forward in the 2nd half, and we became a much bigger threat because of it. Bit too early to judge their defensive qualities though.

Pacheco was good - again - shame for Nemeth he's been in the U19 Championships, Pacheco's stolen his thunder. Would love to see Torres and either of them play together in the last lot of friendlies.

I would have gave Cavalieri man of the match tonight. Looked like a different keeper than the one in the previous couple of games. I really like the look of Dossena. He's as mental as Daniel Alves and when he gets forward he really does get forward. There was one attack where he ended up as the furthest man up the pitch! We'll have to learn to cover for his bombing runs and there's no doubt he'll mix it physically when defending. Degen also looked ok. Darby was good but he needs a loan somewhere surely as he has Arbeloa, Degen and Carra ahead of him. Voronin had some classy touches and if he ever transfered his pre season form into the actual season then he would be one hell of a player. Leto was absolutely shocking. He looks like he found a Liverpool contract in the bottom of a cereal box.

I know it wasn't anywhere near a 1st 11, but we showed a shocking level of creativity tonight. We're great at defence, but, like a lot of times last season, we just lacked ideas up front.

Hopefully Barry and Keane will help a little (if we even get them), but I'm worried about the squad depth if we're going to end up selling a few. Even the youngsters, attack-wise we've only really got Pacheco and Nemeth who could make the step up from the reserves this season, and the bench is probably as much as they'll see.

If we look at where the goals are going to come from - Torres, Gerrard, Babel, Keane (transfer permitting) in the first team can do it and maybe Kuyt & Barry (though that's probably stretching it a tad), but in the rest of the squad.... Benayoun? Erm...

Ok, so we can't have the type of squad Chelsea have, but a bit more creativity is definitely needed.

Liverpool have made their sixth signing of the summer with the capture of the French striker David Ngog from Paris St Germain. The 19-year-old has signed a four-year deal at Anfield and follows Philipp Degen, Andrea Dossena, Diego Cavalieri, Vincent Weijl and Emmanuel Mendy to the club.

The Anfield club described the forward as "one of the brightest young talents in French football" and "lightening quick", although Ngog, the cousin of the former Newcastle defender Jean-Alain Boumsong, managed just one goal in 18 matches for PSG last season. The fee is reported to be £1.5m.

Ngog has played for the France U-16, U-17 and U-19 sides and scored twice against England U-19s last year. He is expected to challenge for a place in the Liverpool first team and will meet up with his team-mates after they return from a training camp in Switzerland.

Could be good, could be Le Tallec all over again. Apparently he's related to Boumsong as well, which is not a sign of footballing pedigree. It looks like Rafa has been reading the Arsene Wenger guide to building a team with f-all money. Still need a couple of big name signings methinks.

Peter Crouch took 18 games to score for us. The Ngog guy has quite a lot of potential as far as I hear.

As far as Barry of Keane go I think we're paying mental money just because they happen to be British/UK. Plus I'd prefer us to buy a winger.

Vezna, I didn't get to see the match on Tuesday but if Dossena is as good going forward as you say then he could be a real benefit. I think Evra's runs down the left are a big asset for Man U and we've been missing something like that in our squad.

I saw quite a bit of Dossena last season and he does fly down the wing. It's clear that Rafa's setting us up so that the fullbacks provide the width so I never expected to see us signing proper wingers. As you all know Keane would be a dream signing for me and I think Rafa may employ a 4-2-2-2 quite a bit this season, depending on how well Keane adapts to playing in the 3 behind Torres.

If only we had a big man in the middle

I think he's referring to the lack of a certain Crouchinho for anyone crossing to aim at.

Yeah I know, but Torres is actually better than Crouch in the air anyway. Plus, we won't be bombing crosses into the box much, the full backs will get forward and look to play in one of the attacking players. I think we'll be keeping things on the deck a lot more than we have in the past. Both Degen and Dossena have looked calm in possession in the friendlies, just getting forward, retaining the ball and looking to play others in in dangerous areas.

Despite being fit Robbie Keane was not named in Spurs 19 man squad for their friendly draw last night. That deal seems finally done. Bizarrely Berbatov played all 90 minutes. :(

ES seems to think the medical is definitely taking place on Monday. He had said he assumed that the striker being examined on Wednesday was Robbie but it turned out to be Ngog. I've been confident we'd get him since Elisha's first post on the matter and now it seems pretty much certain to be happening. It will raise my anticipation levels for this season tremendously, he's such a good player and I can't wait to see how he links up with Torres and Gerrard.

Arbeloa looks like he might be leaving. Carra for right back? Degen as first choice? Darby ready to step up? It's a blow this and a real pity if the story is true.

Oliver Kay is the one who spoke of the possibility, isn't he? That's bad news for us because he's usually on the money as far as Liverpool are concerned. I was expecting Arbeloa to start out as first choice and he's a very good player so it is, as you say, a blow. I doubt the money is there to fund a replacement and I suppose we will be seeing Carra at right back a fair bit as a result.

The squad / staff etc leave for Spain on Sunday alledgedly. If this is true then Keane getting his medical on Monday doesn't make much sense. Jammy bastard gets to go to Spain with Spurs and Liverpool now though.

Yep, Kay in the Times as far as I know. I suppose having Carra out right will let us form a back three when that lunatic Dossena goes off on a merry jaunt up into the opponents penalty area.

I feel real sorry for Barry. We've kinda fucked him around a bit.

Spurs could do with a decent defensive midfielder. Keane to Liverpool, Alonso to Spurs in a deal that would be more or less a swap. This frees up the money to purchase Barry at Villa's asking price. I doubt Alonso would be up for it though but then again Ramos is in charge there.
