Fabregas was poached, Dos Santos had been touted around Europe for months. He's got a terrible attitude and is very unlikely to ever fulfill his potential. There was some talk on RAWK back in January that Barcelona had offered him to us on the cheap.

Keane set Berbatov up loads of times last season. I think Kuyt is a better support player, but maybe Keane could play the same sort of role as Villa.

Keane is a more a support player than out and out striker. Attacking midfielder really, who runs the channels.

Maybe, but his potential is massive. I think Ramos could mature him into something special.

Fabregas was a complete unknown when he went to Arsenal. Dos Santos played numerous times for Barca last season and it was easy enough to form an opinion of him. 28 appearances, 3 goals, all 3 scored in his final ever appearance. Touted as the new Ronaldinho. Didn't look as good as the current overweight, unmotivated Ronaldinho nevermind the one in his prime. Dos Santos was also rarely unable to get a start ahead of Henry. That sounds ok but when you realise that Henry was quite simply dire last season then it tells a different story.

Uknown to us, not to Barca.

He has never lived up to his potential. He is very small and went down easily in La Liga. The Premier League is going to be a real eye opener for him. There's no doubt Ramos is a good manager but the low transfer fee suggests that nobody is risking that much on Dos Santos.

Seems like the Man utd thread has dissapeared.

When there is so much transfer gossip and anticipation for the new season amongst real football fans? Nuff said really.

I'm fairly certain Ferguson said he won't be getting any big players this Summer.

...and yet Henry was Barca's top scorer last season. The main reason for his sale IMO is that Bojan is going to be the first pick for that position for the next decade, so there's little point in keeping the kid when he's not going to see much play. Plus 10m isn't a terrible fee, and I expect there's other riders in there somewhere.

He does have a lot of potential IMO, and if anyone can prepare him for the more physical Premiership its Ramos. The work he's done on team fitness has been phenomenal, looking at the photos coming out of the training base in Spain is like looking at different players. Its not like he'll be starting every game anyway, he'll be brought in slowly, rotated in for Malbranque until he becomes the regular there.

He's 19 years old! He's an amazing talent and playing first team football under Ramos will get that out of him.

Also, Henry was nowhere near the flop for Barca that people make out.

He played 28 times for Barca last season and didn't shine. Bojan (2 years younger) looked very much like the real deal.

I do like to watch quite a bit of La Liga and Henry was abysmal at times. The pace is gone and despite the fact he liked to drift out left when with Arsenal, he doesn't seem to be able to play starting from the left. He's washed up to say the least. It's been strongly rumoured that Barca wanted rid of him this summer but he didn't want to leave.

Eh? Bojan plays in the middle, Dos Santos from the left. They play in different positions!

It's been a few years since Dos Santos shone at that U17 tournament and he hasn't made the progress expected of him. Maybe the move will do him good and he'll get back on track. I don't see it. Modric will set the Premier League on fire but I don't expect his Mexican team mate to do the same. Not at first at the very least.

Really? The admittedly limited bits of Barca I've seen Bojan was replacing Henry in the left striker position, and looking at his wiki page his first appearance was subbing on for Dos Santos, so I don't think its nearly as clear cut. Plus GDS isn't solely a left winger, he can play either side or support striker. Sounds more to me like they're both in a similar mould in versatility terms, but Bojan is clearly the bigger talent.

Bojan isn't strong enough to play in the middle in a 4-3-3 formation hence why he moved to the left side. The only way I can see Bojan playing in the middle next season is if Barcelona go 4-4-2, I'm sure if Barcelona get Adebayor he would be a great foil for Bojan.

Bojan is a striker but as Shevchenko says he's not really built to be the tip of a forward three. He has over 800 goals at junior / youth level for Barcelona. The boy is just a born goalscorer and as said above he would be an ideal partner for Adebayor. Not sure where that leaves Messi though.

I'm not sure how versatile Bojan is as he just looks like a goalscorer to me and I'm sure Dos Santos is more flexible. I still don't see the Mexican playing on a wing of a midfield four. I'm all for being proven wrong and the bloke lighting up the Premier League but I still think Modric will be the success story.

We have accepted a £3.5m bid by Stoke for Scott Carson. Not bad, I suppose.

I see that MON has been spouting off to the press about Arsenal's interest in Barry (trying to provoke us into improving our bid?). For someone who complained about speaking to the media about transfers, he's doing an awful lot of talking.

Bojan played out wide for most of the season, he's not a central striker at all. The only times I've seen Geovanni play, he's been out on the right!

He is. 800+ goals so far suggests he's a central striker. He's a born finisher.

As much as I've always respected O Neill his attitude has been a bit off with this one hasn't he?

I bet in the past he would always be the sort of guy to say "If the lad doesn't want to play for you, let him go".

Then, do doubt, bemoan the prices of English players.

So - he says Barry can't leave and whacks a stupid-o-price on him.

I'm surprised he's leaked an Arsenal story there that's not very professional is it. WINK.

I think Lpool might feel they need Barry to keep Gerrard happy.

Nothing like playing in the shadow of Europe's finest young talent, eh?

Unless Dos Santos' attitude really hinders his progress (and I can't see Ramos letting it) I simply can't seem him not becoming one of the Premiership's finest players. A big claim perhaps, but he's got all the ability and is at just the right club.

Bojan's good enough to play any forward role whatever, but his natural position is defiintley as a striker. Unfortunatly it may be that the only way he'll establish himself will be in a 'little and large' front two. Do we know how commited Guardiola is to the 4-3-3?

Juve paid Sevilla $15million for Christian Poulsen over the weekend. That should curb their interest in Alonso.
We have accepted a £3.5m bid by Stoke for Scott Carson. Not bad, I suppose.

And so the fire-sale begins...

With Alonso looking like he's staying now (yay!), we'll have to raise as much as possible and quickly - just to pay for Barry and (possibly) Keane. Which would leave us still about 2 players short if we're going to sell all our squad players.

Pennant looks like he's next (with Finnan not playing on Saturday probably meaning he's off to Villa - Barry deal or not).

Sold:

Crouch - £11m

Riise - £4m

Guthrie - £2m

Probable Selling:

Pennant - £6m

Carson - £4m

Itandje - £3m

Finnan - £1.5m

Bought:

Degen - £Free

Dossena - £7m

Cavalieri - £3m

Which would leave us with £20.5m to spend on Barry and Keane. Add to that a (hopeful) £20m from the Americans (I mean, they've got to give us some money haven't they?!) would probably leave us with £2m to get a wide player to complement the front line.

This is idiotic. We're never going to get anywhere if this keeps happening every summer. Ok - we'll probably be slightly improved this season, but only really if we did actually manage to get Keane. Gah!!!

They're here to make money, they may not want to spend it.

I can't believe Aston Villa are going for Bentley. It makes me sick.

Sure he wants to leave the club, but he's surely key to their progression. Has he not just about been their best player? Plus at 23 he's got more time to improve.

It's disgusting when teams try to poach those players who don't want to be at the club and go elsewhere. Isn't that right Martin?

£15m for Bentley I think.

Why would you leave Blackburn and go to Villa of all places...? I'm sure Bentley wants to move to join a better team.

He wants to potentially play in the UEFA Cup / Intertoto Cup?

I'm glad he's not coming to Anfield anyway.

Well, I'm sure he'd prefer to go to a Champions League team, but none of them seem particularly interested. He doesn't actually appear to have that many options; either he stays at Blackburn (who are an unknown entity under Ince), or takes a chance at Villa or Spurs. Seems likely to be Spurs to me, if they can come up with the necessary cash; I think Ince is talking up the Villa offer to prompt a response.

6th place last season and the most exciting and upcoming teams to watch. If he joins one of the top 4 he'll fade away into their lame rotation systems. Bentley wants the london lifestyle, so probably spurs
