What makes it better?

Yeah I used to take the piss out of idiots on here saying FIFA 08 was better than Pro... then I got into Euro 2008 and its fucking DOPE. It just plays a better, more interesting game of football.

Looks like we'll be making a final offer for Barry sometime soon. I can see that and the Keane transfer taking the rest of the month to sort out though - we can never do these things quickly.

And even after getting those 2, we'd still be without the player(s) we desperately need - someone to play out wide. I really don't think we'll get Silva - though I wish we could - so god knows who it'll be. Reira maybe?

You know we've come out and rubbished the claim he's handed in a transfer request yeah? I'd forget about the media bollocks if I were you

Yeah I had heard that this morning. Just because he's not handed in a transfer request doesn't mean he doesn't want to come though :)

I believe Rafa does want him, there's obviously something to the story, but whether it happens in the end is a different matter. As I said, it's not going to happen quickly either way.

I'd prepare myself for a bumpy ride if I were you; Elisha_Scott (of YNWA.tv fame) has been dropping hints about Keane since May and has confirmed that our interest is real. That may not mean much to you but Elisha_Scott is very rarely wrong.

You can be interested all you want, I still don't think Ramos will sell him, especially to Liverpool.

You're quite right. However, there is the small matter of Keane being a lifelong Red and possibly thinking this is his last chance for a move to a Champions League club. If Keane wants to go there isn't much you can do, is there? I mean no offence to you here, mate. I appreciate that the thought of losing your best player isn't easy to accept, and you may be right and he'll end up staying, but I do think there's a very real possibility that he could go.

He's also a (reported) lifelong Celtic fan, but you don't see him wanting to go there do you, even when they bid for him a few seasons back.

Seriously, he just signed a new contract this year when we were languishing in 10th, why do that if you're worried about the CL? Why go to Liverpool and play second fiddle to Torres when he's playing a big role for a club that took his somewhat fractured career and helped him rebuild it? He's not a mercenary player and I don't see him wanting out just because he was a Liverpool fan when he was a kid.

The only way this is possible is if Ramos has a replacement already lined up, and that replacement is David Villa.

There's a bit of a difference between the two clubs, though, isn't there?

Maybe he was perfectly happy at Tottenham and didn't expect Liverpool to come in for him, much like Gareth Barry at Villa. Who says he'll be playing second fiddle to Torres anyway? I think it far more likely that he'd feature in the majority of games. I could easily see him fitting into the '3' behind Torres as he's an intelligent player that plays between the lines; exactly what we need.

I don't think that leaving a club you're very fond of to play for a bigger club (I hate saying that, no offence was once again) that can offer Champions League football, the chance to compete for trophies, to work with one of the best managers in the game, and play for the team team you support would be a mercenary move.

The only way this is possible is if Ramos has a replacement already lined up, and that replacement is David Villa.

I can't comment on that. I'm not saying it's nailed on or anything, and I think Ramos is going to do great things for your team, as I said in your thread before he joined. I just think that if our interest is real it could turn his head.

Is he really a Liverpool fan? According to wiki he turned Liverpool down when he moved to Wolves originally and he is a Celtic fan.

I dont suppose it really matters anyhow, I wouldnt mind seeing him at Liverpool although the prices being quoted are too high for me.

Celtic could have offered him CL and trophies, plus I don't particularly think Liverpool are that much of a bigger club. We manage to be one of the highest spending clubs in the PL without any big foreign backing or loans against our name, and I think that says a lot about just how much support we have. The only things we really lack is trophies in recent times which is down to mis-management by the previous owners. Its taken a long time to get back to competitive and now we're almost there everyone and their mum wants to nick our players like we're some kind of strapped for cash feeder team, but unfortunately for them we ain't.

I just think this is all being blown up by the media as some sections seem to love putting us down. They've played a big part in making Berbatov unsettled IMO and making bollocks up about him 'asking for a transfer' when nothing of the sort has happened is indicative of the nasty shit-stirring nature of the press.

I think we'll offer firm cash bids of £15m (up front, no clauses/players) for both Barry and Keane. Hopefully the Barry one will be accepted, because I don't see Benitez offering anymore than that for him (since we got Mascherano for £18m). The Keane one will no doubt be rejected - and then it's a case of how much we want him. Do we just walk away and sign someone not as good for slightly less money (as per every other season). Or do we do what we should have done with Alves and offer that couple of million more (when we could've got him for £12m and he's now signed for Barca for £24m).

Celtic could have offered him CL football but no real chance of winning it. I don't see Spurs as some sort of feeder club. As I've said already, I have a lot of respect for your club and its support but I do feel that were I in Keane's shoes, there wouldn't be much of a choice to be made.

Bascombe was the first to break the story and he's a very credible source. He is often first off the mark with Liverpool stories despite now working for that shite rag.

Yes. He's always openly admitted to being a Liverpool fan. Until I saw that Wikipedia page I'd never heard anything about him following Celtic too but it didn't surprise me. He's always in the Irish papers before we play them saying he's a Liverpool fan and he loves Anfield but obviously wants to do well when he plays us (and he usually does).

The feeder team comment was more aimed towards Man Utd than yourselves to be honest.

The press have been off the mark with us all season though, the Modric, Dos Santos and Gomes stories were all broken very late or not at all in the mainstream press. The only protracted ones that seem feasible are Bentley and Capel and even those are shaky. Seems to me Ramos plays with his cards very close, probably only with him Commoli and Levy really knowing the score. Not surprising given the way he came in I think, the press shafted us just as much as Jol was there which is a great way to introduce themselves. Its little wonder he won't speak to them even though his English is apparently good now.

It was almost as good as your reason for thinking Liverpool aren't a much bigger club than Tottenham.

what, that we have a lot of fans pumping a lot of money into our club and have done for years? Both teams have a long history of being top teams, just because we've lost our way in recent times doesn't change that.

I'm hardly bitter, how is what I've said bitter?

Literally, everything.

They've been picking away at our players...so and so won't go to them...it's all the medias fault...bla bla bla.

Fuck, why are football fans so bitter?! If us Liverpool fans ever get like that I'm off to support Hastings faaaking United.

Bitter? What are you talking about? To discredit us as a much smaller club really shows your knowledge. Have you ever looked at the differences in revenue made between the two clubs or our respective honors. Obviously you are a bigger club but I doubt you know why. And why do you support Liverpool (genuinely interested)?
