I'd like to hear Andy Gray go on a rant like that every time a team with man to man marking concedes a goal.

To be fair, I always go into panic mode when it's the other team's free kick near our box. I'm still not sure the team understands zonal marking. But yeah, away goal. :D

Very good result for us, but obviously we still have to get a result at Anfield to go through.

Thought that we defended really well but were a bit too negative in the second half. Despite Arsenal dominating play in the second half they didnt create many clear cut chances although it is difficult for them with us camped in our own box. I suppose the result justifies the tactics but I was scared if Arsenal got one in the second half they could have gone on to get more as we seemed to be done as an attacking force by half time.

I also thought Alonso and Babel had very poor games but the more I see Skrtel the more I like him.

I thought Crouch would've been better suited to this myself, I really do.

I don't see where he fits into our 4-2-3-1 system at all. If Rafa sticks rigidly to this formation then Crouch has no future at Anfield. Ultimately when he was an automatic first choice he missed far, far too many chances. He's no more than a squad man at best these days. He's bound to start on Saturday though.

Yes, but we don't have the players fully suited to that formation (yet). And we may as well get as much mileage out of Crouch as we can now, because we're gonna fucking miss him when he inevitably goes in the Summer. Seriously.

There's a good bit on Football365 today, about ALex Fergurson's success in keeping squad players happy to stay at Old Trafford. To have the same depth in the squad, Liverpool need to be able to keep hold of the likes of Crouch once they become squad players instead of first choice. I can't see that happening in this case.

To be fair, the Mancs have got 'squad players' like Giggs, Scholes, Neville (spit) who are 'the old guard'. They're getting on a bit but would love to stay on for as long as possible at their age - we've got a player like that in Hyppia and possibly Riise, but few else. I mean, if Fowler actually bothered working on his low fitness levels he could've been a fantastic squad player, but he just stayed lazy. Kewell could do the same, but looks like he's gone fast (and also can't be arsed, the fat idiot).

I thought Andy Gray was okay last night.

Is Pennant injured? Surely Pennant would give more than Kuyt out there. Maybe not defensively but if we had more going forward we wouldn't have to defend as much. And Babel was rubbish although everything did seem to go down Kuyt's side. AND I don't like Gerrard's sulky face whenever the ball isn't played to exactly where he wants it. Steve, you missplace passes but nobody moans at YOU. Good result though.

Andy Gray is the most negative man in football , its not just Liverpool who he does it too but every game he commentates on, gets me so irate

That's why Sky started giving viewers the option of Fanzone commentaries. The last one I listened to was the Chelsea vs. Arse match, where I was given the mental image of the Chelsea fan rubbing his exposed moobs all over his co-commentator. Fanzone should be mandatory for all Sky matches and pub viewings.

Richard Keyes - and he should be sacked for this - insinuated that the ref was corrupt because he lived near Dirk Kuyt in Holland.

And you insinuated that English football was corrupt full stop after a decision went against you the other week.

Wonder how Liverpool fans feel about refereeing inconsistency after last night eh?

I can't stand his stupid commentary, whenever something exciting is happening, his voice goes into chewing on gavel mode :D

It balanced out on the penalty shout, I felt. As I said, Senderos should've definitely got a card for something, and there were a few free kicks that never were (and whilst they weren't in the most critical positions, we're seemingly shit at defending those types of free kicks, so :D).

He's not a big enough goal threat to get serious game time in this system. Kuyt was excellent last night, I thought. He lost the ball a few times but he was making clever runs, provided a good outlet for Carra (which was important as we looked to play it down the flanks for the most part) and gambled at the far post to get us the goal. I'm not going to even mention the amount of work he put in defensively.

We were never going to be on the front foot playing away from home against the best possession side in the league. We had to be organised, look to hit them on the break and be ruthless when the chance came. We did what we had to do, it's just a shame that we suffered another lapse in concentration for the corner they scored from. I was getting worried towards the end of the first half because it looked like it was happening again.

I meant towards the end really, Kuyt was good and has been the last few games. Instead of hanging on though we'd have had a bit of a threat going forward. Another goal would have been tremendous. It could easily have finished 3-1. I mean, Bentner's ridiculousness and the ref's are the only things that saved us. I just think we needed a better outlet for the pressure towards the end.

Despite the two penalty shouts, still not seen the Torres one yet though, it was rather refreshing to see a game be allowed to flow. By the end players were picking themselves up straight after a challenge and getting straight back into the game rather than sitting on the floor expecting a free kick.

Keyes. Ever the professional.

I've got this saved on my Skybox. Sky kept the live feed going on Sky Sports HD 1 instead of switching on transworld sports.

The Jamie Redknapp bit after this is perhaps even funnier.

That's pretty darn awesome.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Voronin really disappointed me in that regard. When that move towards the end broke down because of Kuyt's legs turning to jelly, Voronin just threw a strop instead of chasing the ball down and attempting to keep it in their half. Although Crouch doesn't suit the system, I'm sure he would have coped far better than Voronin for the last few minutes and eased the pressure a bit.

I agree I thought the ref handled the game well.

The Senderos tackle was the worst of the game and probably should have seen yellow but I was happy with the ref taking a back seat and letting stuff like that go if it meant the players acted better and got on with things which is exactly what happened.

It would be nice if more refs were like that.

Regarding the penalty shout I think I would have been annoyed if we hadnt got a penalty for something similar but it was hardly the stone wall decision the commentators etc. made out at the time. I dont really understand why Kuyt touched him though it was a silly thing to do.

I've been talking to people about this all day. Last nights match would have been a stop start boreathon with a Premier League ref in charge.
