So how's everyone thinking tonight will go? I see it being a 1-1 draw, which would do us well for the second leg, Arsenal seem quite shakey at the moment but with that Bolton comeback, they could have a massive boost of confidence.

Liverpool and Newcastle are reportedly sniffing around Aaron Lennon like a couple of horny dogs.

The increasingly ineffective wideman will apparently set one of those two back around £10million, and that's not all from The Mail.

They reckon that Lennon could fill the tagged boots of Jermaine Pennant at Anfield, who may well be off to Aston Villa or Middlesbrough.

From football365, I know it's only gossip but I would be furious if we signed Lennon, he's exactly as crap as Pennant and probably will cost 2-3 million more. Anyway, I don't see a place for either player in Benitez's plans so I doubt if the story will go much further

I see tonight being an entertaining game but low scoring.

As for Lennon, I totally agree. He's slightly better than the rubbish Pennant and like Wright Philips he's a headless chicken that can't cross a football properly. Not the type of player I see Rafa going for.

I watched the Schalke vs Barca game last night and I can't say Rafinha stood out for me. He's no Daniel Alves, that's for sure going by last night at least.

On another potential target, Mancini looked rubbish yesterday for Roma too. But then they all looked like crap.

I wouldn't be happy with Lennon - overpriced for what we would get. I'm not sure how happy I'd be with Bentley either. He's done well this season, but I don't know if he'd improve as a player for us and again we would have to pay the "English Tax".

A 0-0 or 1-1 draw is a decent bet for tonight. I hope we can get at them early and if we do score, not to sit back and defend.

Mancini is too old (although he's not that old) to be moulded for Premier League use.

Only Fabregas and Gerrard have created more goal scoring opportunities this season than Bentley. He also weighs in with a few goals. I'm not convinced he's the one for us and I'm sure he would command a £15 million fee. Then again is he potentially not a superior player to the ineffective Kuyt?

Bentley, Lennon, Mancini?? None of those names really fill me with much confidence. Pennant ain't exactly crap compared to those players.

Tonight I think we will score and score early. I reckon we can do them over and win 0-1. I just hope Gerrard shows up tonight as recently in the big games he has been some what inconspicous with his absence.:P I'm also looking for a big big game from Mascherano and Alonso. They will need to be at their best to nullify the threat from Flamini and Fabregas.

Its gonna be a good game though and I'm gonna sink a few to help me through it. :)

He's lost form of late and you were watching a right back playing against Barcelona. How many of them do you think have put in stand out performances against Barca this season? He's been brilliant up 'til now, he seems to be out of form at the minute but up until a few weeks ago he was immense. I'd still prefer Alves but he'll cost a lot more than Rafinha would.

Lennon would possibly be worth a look in terms of squad players if we had more money than sense. However, it is clear that we do not and we should be looking at the likes of Jefferson Farfan and Rodrigo Palacio instead.

I'm nervous about tonight. There are many Gooners in my family so bragging rights are at stake.

It's obvious we need to replace Kuyt and the above three are just names that have been thrown around recently. Expect to see 1,000,000 other potential Kuyt replacements speculated on between now and August.

Actually thinking about Farfan makes me remember his team mate 'Ibrahim Allefay'. Looks like a damn good young prospect and possibly the winger / forward we are looking for.

I'm not so sure. He's definitely talented but he looks best when played in midfield. Farfan is sill only 23, is used to playing in the area we most need to address, is strong and quck, scores goals, and takes a good free-kick. He's stagnated this season but I think a change would do him good.

So, tonights team then??

-----------------Reina

--Arbeloa--Carragher--Hyypia--Riise

------Mascherano---Alonso------

--Kuyt---------Gerrard--------Babel

-----------------Torres-------

I think i'd prefer him stick with Carragher at right back and Skrtel at centre though. DO NOT DROP HYYPIA RAFA!

They'll be playing it on the deck for the most part, looking to get in behind us, I'd have thought. For that reason alone I don't see Hyypia playing. Carra and Skrtel are the likeliest pairing, I reckon. Although I think I'd rather see Sami in the side for his experience with Carra shifting to the right. I'm expecting to see:

-----------------Reina

--Arbeloa--Carra--Skrtel----Aurelio

------Mascherano---Alonso------

--Kuyt---------Gerrard--------Babel

-----------------Torres

We've got Gerrard, Carra and Aurelio one booking away from a suspension. They've got about 5 players in the same position. Gerrard will have to watch himself out there because we'd be fucked if he were to miss the second leg.

Babel scored a cracker for me in Pro Evo earlier. Left foot drive into the top corner! Thus I predict 1-0 at half time, 3-1 at full time.

BenSports for sopcast??

Sopcast was fine for me.

Andy Gray though. What a bitter, twisted, biased, nasty little man. Has he been that bad before?

Furthermore it looked like Torres had a good shout for a penalty nearish the end. Where were the multiple replays of that, and Mr Gray beomaning the ref for not spotting it?!

However 1-1! Good result. Those last 20 minutes (well 30 minutes) took forever.

Kuyt was pretty good tonight too. Although he should have moved it on earlier/quicker in the last minute there - a shooting chance degraded into nothing. Shame.

Grr, I hate the way that after the penalty claim (Which was quite clear admittedly) Andy Gray decided "Liverpool get lucky" and "Ref gives Liverpool advantage" would be the headlines tomorrow and spent the entire rest of the match talking about it and making out that it was happening all the time. Other than that penalty shout, the ref was completely fair and correct at all times imo.

Looked to me like on 83 minutes we played Torres almost through on goal and he might have been pulled back, but we didn't get a replay, nor a comment from anybody, felt as if I was the only person in the world to notice it.

edit: Disciple did! o/

To comment on the actual match, Arsenal were amazing in the second half, and we did some good defending, Skrtel and Hyypia had a really good game. The ball is in our court, I couldn't care less about Saturday's result (Though if we win it we could come 3rd).

I think for the last 15 mins of the second half they look tired. We weathered a storm, and they seemed to be spent then.

Richard Keyes - and he should be sacked for this - insinuated that the ref was corrupt because he lived near Dirk Kuyt in Holland. I haven't noticed the Sky team drawing up their ref distance measurements for the unfathomable amount of favourable decisions Manchester United & Chelsea receive in the Premiership.
