Nice win tonight. Plessis stole the show for me, classy player. Nemeth looks like a fine prospect and there's no doubt in my mind (still) that someday Insua will be our first choice left back. Agger didn't seem to have any problems and Skrtel is far, far too good to play at this level again. Amazing save from a Spearing volley from the Utd keeper, Heaton, has to get a mention.

Just got back from it - Plessis acts very much like Sissoko, very leggy, though seems to be able to pass a lot better. Insua didn't impress me as much as he has done, didn't get forward as much as usual. Apart from a nice trick in the box and his goal, Kewell was utter rubbish - just looked like he couldn't be bothered. Fair enough it was a reserve game, but he's not going to impress Benitez like that.

As I said at the start of the season (for the second season running): Harry Kewell is dead to me. He's finished. He has put no effort in on the pitch this season and he really doesn't look like he gives even half a shit anymore. He's supposed to be trying to win a contract extension but it seems as though he is resigned to the idea of 'playing' elsewhere next season; probably for West Ham.

I'm aware some of you think that is a harsh viewpoint and I'm not usually one to jump on a player when he's not performing but he's been this way for fucking ages now, and the smiles at full-time when we had lost 1-0 in what was one of the worst displays I've seen since the Houllier days, was the final straw for me.

I completely agree - he's had enough chances now, it's time to get rid.

I like that Benitez put first team players in the reserves tonight to improve their match fitness. That and keeping mainly the same team on Saturday possibly shows a change in thinking now.

He's done this with first team players recovering from injury loads of times before. However, it does seem as though he's going to rotate less for a period and I'd be interested to see the results because although we got the three points against Middlesbrough, we were pretty poor and some of the players looked quite jaded. That's bound to be the case after a game like the previous one I suppose and I hope it was a one off.

Not so much this season though. There was a reserve game where Alonso played, but that was during an international week. The likes of Kewell, Pennant and Alonso haven't played for the reserves, even when coming back from long injuries.

We're out of the cups now, though. That will have had an impact on his plans for these players as well.

Well yeah, that's why it's changed now. But if it's all rosey until the end of the season without too much rotation, maybe that'll have a longer impact on his thinking. If he's around for that long.

I agree. It'll certainly be interesting to see.

In other news it seems Inter may be without Ibrahimovic for the second leg. Materazzi is suspended and Cordoba is out for the season so they'll be playing Chivu and another, most likely Burdisso, at centre-back. I quite fancy us to nick a goal over there and their injury and suspension problems only strengthen my belief in that regard. I really can't wait for this game.

I keep hearing good things about Insua, but he never seems to be near the first team at all, even allowing for Riise's poor performances and Aurelio's poor injuries. Anyone know why he isn't getting any first team action?

He's only 18. He's a bit like a left sided Daniel Alves. He needs to work on his defensive game a bit to try and find the perfect balance between attacking & defending.

I whole heartily agree. I think its time to get rid of rubbish like him and anyone else that is making this side 'flabby'. We need to bring in solid additions yet again this summer and not lose the players that really count to us. In the end I think keeping Reina, Carragher, Finnan, Agger, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Torres and Babel are key to our future both short term and long. Some if not all the rest can go find a Blackburn or West Ham to play for (no disrespect to those sides).

Uh oh, Dogsout's too confident, haven't you learnt we only do well when we're underdogs?

Are you implying that you think they'll put us out? They've definitely got it in them to reverse our lead and I think the first goal, and its timing, will be key; I can envisage us nicking one on the break. If we manage to score that will most likely signal the end of the tie. There's too much in our favour and we have nothing else left to play for besides fourth place.

I was messing really. Although the points stands and I think it's why we do well in the CL. We're awesome as underdogs, the times we've slipped up is against teams we were expected to beat. And now we're expecting to go through, you know?

Blackburn have a better strikeforce than us (arguably).

I'll argue against that. Torres and Babel for me over McCarthy and Santa Cruz. McCarthy is in his thirties and looking at Santa Cruz's past records, this season is not typical of the man.

Just recently Carragher has seemed like he's losing the plot a bit? He seemed quite put out when he quit England and a few fouls/penalties this season...including those that weren't given...

Perhaps mad is the wrong word. Angry?

He just takes no shit. When that wanker Adrian Durham on Talksport questioned his committment Carra had the bottle to challenge him live on air. The silly cunts at Luton got more than they bargained for as well.

*Applauds*

So does anyone think this Share Liverpool FC thing might actually come off? If 9,500 people have pledged the money already is that a good or bad sign for it's chances considering how long has passed since the idea was first mooted.

Also, is The Kop Magazine still shite?
