They're not awful all the time, he's scored a few freekicks this year already, just seems to have bad games where none reach the target.

It's more his set piece delivery - getting the ball into the box from freekicks and corners. They just aren't that good. I could do better. YES! :)

Rafa is an incredible tactician.

However, his biggest downfall in the Premiership is that it's simply not as tactical - Even with the masses of foreign players, it's somehow retained its fundementally 'English' style, and for that you're best just letting the team go with the flow, making refinements here and there rather than mapping out every last inch of it. Top level European games, however, are very different...they DO require you to be meticulous.

Alex Ferguson is the opposite...countless chances in the CL, but with a record dwarfed by Rafa's whose career is in its relative infancy. Wenger is another example - his teams play to a loose plan rather than a strict blueprint, and they flourish in the Premiership, but he falls down time after time in Europe. Both require a special type of manager, both are very hard tasks to master - Rafa happens to be better at the latter, the others at the former. It took Ferguson more years than Rafa to get near the most prestigious silverwear, so his time could yet come in the league. If still at the helm next season (and provided we qualify for the CL and we come close to or win the thing this season he will be) I hope he can finally approach a campaign without the shackles - It'll be do or die.

But could you not argue that anybody, given enough time, will eventually get the hang of managing in the Premiership? You know? What you seem to be suggesting is that we'll be okay as long as Rafa totally casts aside his fundamental approach to football management.

I'm saying that people need to be given ample time, especially when they're fantastic at an art which is, perhaps, the rarest in club football. Maybe he'll never win the league with us, but I'm not giving up yet, not while we do this well in a competition even more cash-rich than the Premiership (always beneficial for a club like ours which cannot compete with Man Utd and their like in pure wealth). Sometimes it takes a while for managers to hit their stride in a certain competition. Rafa wasn't an overnight success in Spain, Ferguson must have altered things in his managerial style to go from no-hoper to all-time great in England, Wenger's first full season success looked like a fluke until they finally won more silver four years later. That's my point, really. If he's so good at certain aspects of the game, I'm not writing off his ability to adapt in the nick of time, just like some of the greats of the game have done.

Maybe we'll go far in the CL this season, he'll change his approach and we'll be useless in Europe but excellent in the league for the next 10 years. Who knows. Maybe we'll end up like the Inter & Real Madrid fans who win the league but have their fans calling for the manager's head due to a lack of CL success.

Kicked off, a win is required. Definately. It's BORO. At home.

I feel vs Inter we were gifted the game by the sending off. So now it's almost more of a test.

It seems we are edging closer and closer to new ownership. Whether it be part or full ownership on DIC's part, I've made it clear in here that I welcome the idea. I'm expecting the story to regain its momentum soon. I can't wait for this mess to end really.

It was his first start in the league as well! To be fair to him he looked good on his debut, although it was only a 25 minute cameo. It looks as though he'll be able to hold a place down now but strikers beware; Momo can and will overhead kick you in the temple.
