You could say it's the managers job to motivate the players in these situations.

If anyone thinks we're going to beat Inter... wow.

Inter is the sort of game which proves easier for us under Rafa than, say, Championship sides in the FA Cup or Bolton away. It's plain to see for his entire reign. At least we're formidable in one major area!

This is ridiculous and, frankly, I hope there's a cull of these players because they've let everyone down - the fans, the manager. Rafa has made errors, but too many of these players only bother to turn up to earn their wages when it's a Chelsea or [insert top European team here] in front of them. Pathetic.

Rafa bought these players. He'll buy more of these players.

The season is drawing to a close for Liverpool FC at a shocking rate.

Painfully true

I can't remember the last time we truly played well. I have little faith left we can do well in the Champions League, and we'll probably just about scrape into 4th. Just feels like what's the point now - which is no doubt how the players are going to and have been feeling. I hate to say it, but I can't see what Benitez is doing to fix this, he's certainly not motivating the players. Maybe it's time for a full blown change. New owners and a new manager :P

To be fair to the players it must be so much harder to give everything every week when your target is forth place and when at the start of the season you were aiming for the stars! As a top athelete I know that it's impossible to give as much effort for second place if the leader has fucked off up the road. The people who will fight harder for the lower places are the people who never expected to be up there, that's why we could struggle for even 4th now. I don't blame the players though as that's just natural, you can't try as hard to win the booby prize.

Not long ago Rafa said that changing one or two players shouldn't make a difference. He was right there. If you're struggling and low on confidence then changing one or two players won't make a difference. Just as if you're winning week in week out then making a couple of changes shouldn't make a massive difference. But you don't improve making these changes.

Rafa's biggest problem is that he's not shown he learns from his mistakes, in fact I'm sure he doesn't even think he makes them. If you don't learn from your mistakes that you're fucked.

If he gets sacked tomorrow I wouldn't mind. I mean, he seems like a really nice guy and loves the club and everything but he doesn't love the club as much as Roy Evans. Nobody cried for him. Houllier was a nice guy who loved the club, jesus, remember him crying when he left. Being cool and loving the club isn't enough these days.

I'd like to see Sven brought in, failing that O'Neil, failing that some new guy who I've never heard of but who will turn out to be fucking incredible.

I don't think we've beaten a decent side this season.

Porto I guess and Everton, neither were convincing though despite the Porto scoreline.

This season is a carbon copy of Houiller's last season.

As for the new manager I would like Mourinho but I don't see that happening.

He certainly wouldn't be my choice and I'm not sure that Martin O'Neill would leave his blossoming Villa side. If Rijkaard's tenure at Barca is ended he could be a contender but once the managerial merry go round starts he may well end up at AC Milan. Lippi will always get a mention but he wouldn't be my choice. Neither would the possibly available Ancelotti. Bilic has done a cracking job so far and is alledgedly a Liverpool fan despite being an ex Everton player. Beyond that it would have to go to an up and coming manager.

It's gotta be somebody with the nuts to stand up to Gerrard. I was just thinking about this in the bath. Imagine being in the team with Gerrard, the best player in the world, and have him screw his face up everytime you make a mistake, that would be pretty shitty.

I've always wondered if players like Alonso or Sissoko would have blossomed in a Gerrardless team. Van Nistleroy and Henry where amazing players for Man Utd and Arsenal but both clubs benefited by their departure. I don't want rid of Gerrard but it's just something I've thought about.

Heard Didier Deschamps name being mentioned a while back. Could be an interesting option.

Honestly, I'm no longer shocked nor surprised by what we are capable of as a team (and I use that in the loosest possible sense). We played poorly against H&W, so it was just a matter of time before someone beat us.

I can't see Benitez staying after this season, regardless of the ownership situation.

What a shitty season this is turning out to be.

Over the stuff we're seeing on the pitch and in the boardroom?

I'll take Ken Dodd jokes any day of the week.

It's rough going lately, I'd rather try and take some mild whimsy from being buggered by Barnsley and probably seeing Rafa go in the summer than be vaguely serious about anything.

There was a moment in the Chelsea game when Lucas was just about to shoot but Gerrard was outside him screaming for the ball and you could see Lucas thinking "If I shoot and miss he's going to screw his face off" so he passed to Gerrard who shot and missed. That's where this Gerrard Rescues Liverpool business comes from when in reality it's The Whole Liverpool Team Plays to give Gerrard the Best Chances.

This could well be the problem, when Rafa arrived it was all talk of how Rafa doesn't tolerate superstars. Maybe Rafa wanted Gerrard to go to Chelsea but somebody bottled it behind the scenes? Regardless, it didn't happen and Rafa has to take the blame for what happenes on the pitch. Maybe that's not fair but life isn't.

Ever since he nearly went to Chelsea I've never looked at Gerrard in the same light, he might be our best player but he's not my favourite, much like Owen. I'm glad we've got him but part of that is I'm glad somebody else hasn't, but I wouldn't be surprised if we'd be a lot better without him. We'll never know though, that was Rafa's decision.

Wow.

Well I missed the footie results on Saturday as I was out with the GF enjoying a lovely day in slightly chilly Blackpool! So I settled in on the Saturday evening to watch the footie and expected a Liverpool win...no Gerrard, wonder what Rafa is doing as per usual. Still thought we'd have enough in the tank...

Result = diabolical. Players, manager, just not good enough. Losing to a team who've been crap away from home AT ANFIELD?

Liverpool won't win the Champions League this season. They can barely beat non-league sides in the country's leading Cup Competition.

Where's the pride from the players AND the manager? I'm not sure I can see it with his team selections.

I'm tempted to say that if Inter turn us over on Tuesday then get Rafa out. It's a total turnaround for me, but the last 2 FA Cup games, where we should be rightfully slapped down for being so shocking, have been awful.

Perhaps I'll feel better about it in a week or two, but it's gone from a "Blip"/"Lack of consistency" to a full blown crisis.

The players are good enough, as we'll see tomorrow night. I mean, even if they weren't good enough to beat Man U they are good enough to beat Barnsley at home.

Those Pro-Rafa demonstrations must have the yankie-doodles scratching their heads in utter confoundment. I found the sight of supporters who stayed behind after the game to sing their "Yanks Out" protest a bit fucking embarrassing.
