It's dead in here. Come on, lads, the season isn't over yet. We've still got two trophies to play for. The inter tie is fast approaching, I'm not sure that we'll do it anymore, although I was very confident when the draw was made. So much nonsense has gone on since then, whilst Inter have just got better and better. I do think we've got it in us to beat them over two legs, if we turn up. Torres should be fit, let's hope he can pull off something special if we need him to.

It's a season where our manager and owners have been open to fair criticism. Our players have also let their manager down by all accounts. Our alledged main rivals have moved forward and the teams that used to be behind us have caught up. Admittedly a win against Inter will go some way to papering over the cracks for a while.

For me it isn't about papering over the cracks; it's about getting something positive out of this disaster of a season. The fans need to get behind the team and be that twelfth man again.

I just got tired of the constant sniping in here so I haven't posted much. I'm a bit nervous about the Inter games, are we home or away first?

Same here. There's no need for it at all and I, too, observed an enforced break from this thread earlier in the season. Fuck that now, though. Let's get some positive thoughts going and actually discuss the game, rather than all of this shite going on behind the scenes (well, supposedly behind the scenes anyway).

We've got them at Anfield on Tuesday. They're in great form and running away with Serie A, while we're struggling in the league. But we've been here before, no?

Unfortunately yes.

To be honest winning the Champions league wouldn't really make me explode with delight which I literally did after Istanbul. I mean, what would it mean, that we're the best team in Europe? Yeah, right. You know? It would be a pretty hollow victory. This season's been a total washout.

And hey, I never took a break from this thread depsite being the target of most of the sniping. You girls wanna grow a thicker skin. :(

Fucking hell. There's literally no pleasing some people. Winning the Champions League would be a hollow victory would it? I'm sorry but that's just mental.

As for the sniping: let's not start this shite again. It's nothing to do with having a thick skin, it's about being able to look in here and talk about the game, like we used to, without seeing the place littered with petty arguments. Personally speaking, there's only so much argument that can be had before I decide somebody isn't on the same page as me and the subject is closed, one way or another. I think we passed this point months ago. I see no reason to argue anymore. So, can we not just talk about the game and maybe get behind the team a little, instead of all this doom and gloom?

It wasn't even directed at me so thick skins doesn't really come into it. It just got boring hearing

A: you're a dick cus you think this....

B: you're a dick cus you think that...

all.fucking.thread.long.

Anyway, who's Inter's big threat these days? Ibrahimovic doesn't seem to do much in European games that I've seen over the last few years, Adriano's on loan in Brazil isn't he? And surely Crespo and Figo are getting on a bit these days

Ibrahimovic has been in great form for them this season, that really can't be emphasized enough, he's been deadly. To be fair, the Serie A referees have done their bit for them this season but they've built up crazy momentum and just keep grinding out results. Sound familiar? They've got a great defense and tend to play largely on the counter. Cambiasso and Vieira have looked a good partnership despite Vieira losing his head a few times this season. Their wingers tend to tuck in and just ping through balls up to the forwards so I think this will be a cagey affair, not too dissimilar to our encounters with Chelsea, style-wise.

If there are any Tyneside-dwelling Liverpool supporters on here, be aware that your reserves are playing against NUFC reserves on Monday night. They haven't decided on the venue yet, but if it's St James' Park (like last week) it's a canny trip out for students etc. It's only £3 to get in (but don't offer to get the bovrils in unless you're minted) and right in the city. Kingston Park is easy to get to on the Metro, but if it's at St. James' it's stupidly easy for most.

I don't think it's mental at all. I thought Istanbul was to be a glorious new beginning, that was just as exciting as the result. We know how that turned out. Unfortunately if we win it this year my excitement would be tempered by the fact that I'll know it means we'll have to endure another season of Benitez fucking up in the Premiership.

But, you know, I'll be there as the twelfe man, I just hope Rafa doesn't substitute me for JAR! Seriously though, it is difficult to get behind the team while that banana is in charge.

We should be fine against Inter, the game itself is enough to motivate the players.

This is ridiculous and, frankly, I hope there's a cull of these players because they've let everyone down - the fans, the manager. Rafa has made errors, but too many of these players only bother to turn up to earn their wages when it's a Chelsea or [insert top European team here] in front of them. Pathetic.

You watch. We'll go and beat Inter 5-0 or something now.

What a game that was, Liverpool had chance after chance second half. Must have been massively fustrating as a Liverpool fan, but for a neutral it was amazing.

Barnsley should have had a penalty 20 seconds before they scored the winner.

Man of the match, Barnsleys keeper.

You could say it's the managers job to motivate the players in these situations.

If anyone thinks we're going to beat Inter... wow.
