Liverpool Football Club

Carragher still has license to handle it in the box whenever he fancies I see.

What a horribly dull game that was. Any Sunderland potential was ruined by Keane's insistence that Murphy is a Premiership footballer (and a winger at that). Apart from giving the ball away 100 times, he even got skinned by Carragher for the first goal.

Unusually I'm with Dizogg with regards to the strike force.

A good 2nd half performance, the commentators can just piss off with the constant criticism of not deserving the goals.

See, this is why I was so pissed off before, no matter how we win, nobody is ever happy.

Anyway, glad of the result, hopefully this'll get the ball rolling...

ed: Wow, maybe I'm guilty of this too, but it seems that everyone only wants to focus on the bad when it comes to Liverpool (just listening to the radio comments). We've not lost many games, turning those draws into win, which surely can't be much once confidence is back up will make a massive difference. I'm not sure when we last won a game and nobody complained?

Babel has only been great as an impact player so far. He's still got much to learn but it is apparent he's the making of something good (if he can keep going and not squander his chances/have a crippling injury). I think he should have come on today but there'll hopefully be room for him at the next game.

To sum up the last 100 pages or so, which Liverpool fans from this thread are behind Rafa, and who wants him out?

I've never been less then 100% behind him and I think he can turn around this phase (no matter what anyone might say, it is a phase). He's shown that he can guide us to glory, and I think he deserves more time because of it. That said his use of Crouch is baffling to me. He always brings him on as a late sub when he has no time to do much, which to me shows that rafa has faith in his ability to turn a game around, but he shouldn't be used for that. I see Crouch as not just a striker, but also someone who can set up others (which he does) so his lack of starts puzzles me.

Regarding Crouch it always amazes me how people say he can't head the ball, when many goals and assists come from his heading. Also he's criticised by too many fans of other clubs as being useless. Holy christ, he was one of englands best players on the pitch against Croatia, and if it wasn't for his solo effort England would have been even more embarrassed by Croatia. Few Strikers are as unselfish and much use in supporting play as Crouch

I think, like Houiller, he's a damn fine manager but I'm convinced he'll never bridge the gap to make us into a realistic league title contender. It would be interesting to see the current Liverpool side with proper width and not comedy wingers like Pennant. Rafa has my backing 100% but part of that is down to the fact that beyond Mourinho it's unlikely we could entice a better manager than him to Anfield. In an ideal world Rafa would depart to Real Madrid and Mourinho would come in and bring Quaresma with him. I don't see any of that happening at all though but I do doubt that Benitez will be at Anfield beyond the summer.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez will allow £15m-rated midfielder Xabi Alonso to return to Spain in the summer, while John Arne Riise, Peter Crouch, Harry Kewell and Andriy Voronin will also leave Anfield. (News of the World)

This better be bullshit.

Pennant has his off days like anyone else but he's a great winger. He can bomb down the side like anyone and he gets crosses into the box. He can get round defenders too. What more can you ask?

Do more work for charity and give me 50 grand?

I will be amazed if Alonso is allowed to go in the summer!

As for yesterday, i'm glad we finally got a win under our belt even if we weren't playing well. As usual of course listening to Five Live made it sound like Liverpool were a sunday league side that deserved nothing. Amazing that Man U getting a late equalizer is "what champions are made of" but Liverpool in a massive slump of form winning 3-0 is "lucky old liverpool". Fuck em i say!
