That article does a good job of highlighting exactly what some of us mean when we refer to media outlets as sensationalists;

Liverpool fans have always been perverse?

None of the starting 11 took responsibility yet Yossi scored a hat-trick.

He either can't count or hasn't done his research because Rafa's net spend would actually be £40.3M in the last 6 months, and that doesn't include the £9.6M we'll be recouping with the sale of Momo.

I'm sure this fella has written loads of articles about how ordinary Arsenal look without Adebayor and Fabregas, and the same with the Mancs and Ronaldo and Rooney. :)

Before you accuse me of going too much in the opposite direction: I've already said I am worried by our form, and have been for some time. I've also said I am starting to doubt Rafa's ability to instill the confidence required for a successful challenge in the Premiership. There's no doubt in my mind that the manager and players have been adversely affected by all of this nonsense, and as I've said time and time again: there are sections of the media that can't wait to twist the knife. However, it is clear that for whatever reason we have under performed in the league and that isn't good enough. Rafa deserves some stick for that, it just annoys me that so many journalists see fit to write half truths and fiction when they should be operating in facts. After all, if he's doing such a bad job, the facts should be (and are in places) pretty glaring.

I meant the bold bit. I thought that was obvious by the way it was bold. ;)

That guy is extraordinarily retarded. Nothing without Gerrard and Torres? We've played some duff games with them playing, so obviously they aren't 'the magic touch' that some media dipshits keep spouting. And £50 million net spend given? We earned £32 million from the Champions' League run so that's a load of fuckin' arse.

Include gate reciepts too then. And shirt sales.

Yeh, I think they spotted that..urh, I thought it was obvious too.

I had the United fans going on today talking as though we lost the game at the weekend, we're going to lose to Barnsley because we went behind twice ;) . Yes, we're not having a great time but we've still only lost one game all season. This has to be the most turbulent time at Liverpool FC for a long time, amazed we've not been beaten more often. Meh, I'm still saying give Rafa a bit more time, I do agree though, we seem to lack that winning mentality, the sheer arrogance and smugness that seems to allow teams like United to grind through matches, we almost seem too nice..

This was in between them talking about winning the trebble, sorry to generalise but all the United fans I have come accross are the worst fans in both success and defeat.

United fans seemed to be talking about the Carling as though it were the champions league the season they only won that, obviously now they're out it's worthless though :|

I didn't even mean all the bold bit, actually, I just meant the bit about Rafa now being 'fireproof', you might say give him a bit more time but he's going to have to fuck up spectacularly now to get replaced. I'm talking mid-table. There was somebody on the telly going on about how all Keegan can do is instill belief in his players but he's tactically useless. We need some kind of machine, like that one in The Fly, to meld Rafa and Keegan together.

Hey, you know Wenger, what did he do before Arsenal? Monaco, right? Was he a massive success there or was he a bit of an unknown?

I agree.

I realised you were talking about the bit you'd highlighted, most of what I said was in regard to that.

Wenger had been managing in Japan prior to accepting the Arsenal job if I recall correctly... I think we'd have a real job on our hands to find an unknown that could come in and do a better job than Rafa. I think Martin O'Neil could be ready for a crack with a big club (no offence to fans of Villa or his former clubs meant there, I just feel he's ready for a job at a top four club). I'd be interested to see what he could do given better players and more money. He's a fantastic motivator and back when Ged left, he was second on my wish list; right behind a certain Rafael Benitez.

I wouldn't mind O'Neil, but he did have a big fall out with us. Was it with Parry?

I'm getting my prediction in for the stating 11 to face West Ham now:

---------------Reina

Finnan----Carra--Hyypia--Arbeloa

Pennant--Stevie--Alonso--Riise

---------------Yossi

------------------Torres

Looks good - apart from Riise. Rather see Kewell or Babel or Aurelio or the dinner lady. And maybe give Skrtel a bash for Hypia. Vidic looked a bit dodgy when he first arrived at Man U. Gotta stick with these guys.

I wouldn't mind Lucas being given a runout, at the expense of Gerrard.

I agree with you up until the Gerrard bit. I think Rafa will go with Riise but like you I'd much rather see Babel, hell, anyone else playing there at the moment.

Banner of the week from the BBC's quotes of the week.

That banner belongs to one of the lads from RAWK. There was a thread on there with banner ideas for the Villa game being thrown about, and that gem was one of the better ones. I also liked:

DONT BE AFRAID OF

PREMATURE

EVACUATION

£8.2million apparently. It was about time we started making a profit on players.

We made a profit on most of our sales in the summer. This is just a continuation of that trend. ;) Apparently the fee could rise to £10m after appearances etc. It's a shame to see him go but it's good business for all concerned really.

How the hell did you guys get 8 mill plus for Sissoko. The few times I have seen him play live he's been utter rubbish and I would say he is technically one of the worst players I have ever seen and I have been watching Reading for over 20 years now so I have seen some real shit play against us and sadly also play for us.

I'd say he's worth it purely for his scaring the shit out of the opposition abilities.

Did you see him when we were against Barcelona? He was the fuckin' bomb. His quality dropped sharp-ish since the arrival of Mascherano, probably because he knew his time was limited and it would have been difficult to impose himself again.

He was unbelievable in his debut season. He put in the performance of the season in the Nou Camp last season and if not for a couple of bad injuries and the arrival of Mascherano, there's no way we'd be selling him. He'll do well for Juventus, you wait and see.

Momo has gone then :(

Momo has gone then :P

Seriously, 8.2m GBP is a great bit of business. He never looked the same since returning from the horrific eye injury. He had some good games of course, but his general play was terrible.

Good luck to the guy. He should do much better in Italy with more time on the ball. Shame that his passing never improved under Rafa's coaching.

Team for WH (my FantasyRafa prediction, not necessarily what I would want to see):

----------------Reina

--Finnan--Carra--Hyypia--Riise

---------------Masch------------

---Pennant--Gerrard---Benny

--------Torres------Kuyt
