Bah. Just over 5 mins. I don't see 2 more goals. Grrrr.

(Thing is, even to win, Villa were 6-1. And I was thinking the way things are goign recently...I should have covered my bets with that, but well see! I Don't think theyve won at Anfield since....ohhhh before you were born!)

Let's be honest...again it's not good enough. We should be beating teams like Villa away from home, not beating them at home is very poor.

What will Benny say post match about this one?

Entertaining game, that.

Interesting statistic: Since he took charge, we have (had?) the second best Premiership home record behind Chelsea. Sub-par away form hindered us. This season, our away form is brilliant whereas the home form has slipped. Blend the two, and we're laughing.

However, I fear there won't be a lot of laughing done until after The Cowboys have exited the club. Given that they were touting the manager's job around to someone who has never managed a proper football team before over Thanksgiving, we could be far worse off.

gutted, villa should have had that win :(

It must have been gutting as a Villa fan but come on you had one meaningful shot in the entire game which went in and also got a complete fluke that wasnt even goal bound.

It was pretty typical of a game for us at home this season though. :)

Gah, I can't believe Crouch couldn't start AGAIN. Torres had a poor game but stayed on throughout whilst Crouch gets 10 minutes a scores a cracking little number. I know there's loads of stupid shit happening off the pitch, but still: grr. :)

Kuyt played well and had a massive hand in the opener. If we'd scored again when playing some brilliant football at the start of the second half it would have been irrelevant.

Crouch was a good substitution, yes, but I don't think it was wrong not to start him. Torres having an unusually subdued match didn't help.

To be fair to Rafa, Kuyt had a good game. It's a pity all of our wingers are either shit, have had injury problems or are not proper wingers. It's also a pity that we play such shite football at times but then show flashes that lead me to think we are a very accomplished team indeed. There's no consistency to our results because there is no consistency to our play. Obviously this off field nonsense has affected our performances but that doesn't excuse it.

Either give Torres a run with Crouch and wingers that will fucking bring some width to the team or abandon this 4-4-2 nonsense; it isn't going to work without width. Switch back to the 4-3-3 and free Gerrard up. That match was painful to watch, and I've felt that way far too many times already this season.

I'm pleased to see Gerrard acknowledging the turmoil having had an affect on the players. After keeping his mouth shut on the matter for so long, it's about time he puts a bit more pressure on the Yanks, however indirect he's being about it.

Just out of curiosity, what, apart from a fine, would happen to a player if they were to voice their concerns over their board?

I think what often happens with Liverpool, is that perhaps we don't have the potential match winners that other sides have had?

For Man Utd you could say that one of Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Giggs could be having a bad game - then they'll pop up with a goal or a moment of magic and turn it around. Previously Scholes, Sheringham, Yorke, etc.

For Chelsea you could say Drogba, Cole, Lampard, SWP now. Previously Robben, Duff.

For Arsenal - well since they offloaded Henry Fabregas, Hleb, Adebayor, Van Persie, even Gallas pops up with goals, and suddenly Flamini is looking decent too. Previously Henry, Pires, Ljungberg.

Liverpool have Gerrard and Torres right now. I can't see any other potential match winners bar Crouch - and he doesn't see to be in favour at the moment.

Why? It's just a poor excuse.

No it's not.

Whenever you have a football club in which it appears the manager is going to be sacked at any moment - particularly under these sort of bizarre circumstances - you rarely have the right cohesion in your play.

I mean, we are in a situation in which Hicks admitted Rafa would have been sacked if we'd gone out of the CL, a competition in which he reached the final last season! At a time where we were about six points with a game in hand off of the top of the table. People were criticising Rafa for giving up and substituting players at 3-1 in that game, but with hindsight it's absolutely obvious why it happened - because they were prepared to use a CL exit as an excuse to sack him.

No one's mind can be 100% on the job right now. Least of all Rafa, even though he won't talk about it.
