Benayoun, Kewell and Kuyt are rubbish? What reality do you live in?

Not being sure on Finnan (mr. consistant), Aurelio (undoubtedly good but obviously very injury prone) and Arbeloa (our best player this season apart from Torres) confirms to me that you are utterly clueless when it comes to football.

:(

To be honest I think Finnan has been awesome the last few years. But he's not going to hang around forever.

I'm a big fan of Aurellio, I even put him in my fantasy footie team...yes injuries didn't help me.

Arbeloa has been very good, but it's gonna take until the end of the season for me to make sure he's top notch. Definately the most promising of these three. I think he's an exceptional prospect.

Benayoun - he doesn't play. He occasionally offers something new, but could you see him breaking into the Arsenal, Man U, or Chelsea midfield? Not a chance.

Kuyt - same.

Kewell. Again what has he done for us in the last few years? His biggest contribution was getting injured in the UCL Final in 04 so that Smicer could replace him to score. Which is unfortunate cos he had so much promise and talent and we all want him to do well...but right now again - he is simply not going to get into those top teams.

Yeah, they're better than me like, so he's theyre not rubbish - but you aren't going to pick them ahead of other Premiership players are you. Is anyone of those going to come near a Premiership select? Who would from Liverpool:

Reina

Carragher

Alonso

Gerrard

Mascherano

Torres

Crouch

These player are proven, or you can already see their class (Torres).

Oh and Agger could well turn out to be amaze, he's looked half decent thus far.

Presumably in this one, where they wouldn't get anywhere near the Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea team.

Nah he's right. I think we need to swap:

Kuyt for Rooney, Tevez, Drogba, Anelka [ironically], or Adebayor.

Kewell for Ronaldo, Wright-Phillips, Malouda.

Benayoun for Hleb, Cole.

Go onnn.

Also loving the tone of the thread. You're lovely people. Really.

What do you guys reckon about this DIC stuff? I can't see them giving those two a massive profit to get the club but the guy from DIC really is a Liverpool fan, so it would be kinda cool, I guess.
I thought the DIC stuff was done and dusted? The guy was like "nobody fucks me with so I'm out" and I imagine he's stubborn enough to not give it a second look.

I'd rather DIC owned than the two Americans though.

I think ramone's talking about this

Exclusive: Arabs eye £500m Liverpool buy-out

The RBS loan is due for repayment next month. The Observer understands that attempts to restructure it have so far failed and the Americans have yet to inject new equity into the refinancing.

While RBS have asked Hicks and Gillett to each commit £20m of their own cash to the deal, City sources believe that at least one of the pair is not prepared to do so.

The global credit crunch has made it harder for Hicks and Gillett to raise new revenues elsewhere and also affected the value of their other assets. Should they fail in their efforts to repay the £350m acquisition debt on Liverpool when it comes due in just over six weeks, there would be the possibility of the next owner of the club becoming RBS.

A mooted valuation of £1billion has been ridiculed, but an enterprise value of around half that figure might prove acceptable, allowing the Americans to exit with a profit of £75m each.

Nice work, Americans!

Is it any wonder our promising season went to shit after a few weeks of tension? There's no doubt that the players will have got wind of this, given that the Klinsmann speculation - now known to be based on fact - started around the time of our decline. "How can we put our best in for Benitez when there's a new man potentially being offered the job?"

And does the fat Texan fuck think we're stupid? Hello - You are sounding out a manager - who has no experience in proper football, having managed only SEVEN competitive games, all in an entirely different environment - because of rumours in the British press?

The sooner these cowboys are out of the fucking way, the better. All they've done so far is lie -

- NO MORE money to spend than in previous seasons.

- What was spent has been paid in 'credit notes' and added to the debt owed to the Royal Bank Of Scotland

- LIED about the grand new stadium, before reverting to an inferior model.

- Unwilling to each put £20m of their own money into the debt, as per the request by RBoS - Which could, theoretically, result in said bank soon being our new owners. Who knows what they'd do with players like Torres, Babel & Benayoun, ostensibly owned by money borrowed from them in the first place?

We need DIC to come in ASAP - They may not be perfect, but Parry would lose his job and they generally make a success of what they do. Crucially, they also have a true fan of our club among their top brass.

Tom Hicks: We lined up Jurgen Klinsmann

Jan 14 2008

EXCLUSIVE by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo

TOM Hicks and George Gillett held a secret meeting with Jurgen Klinsmann to line him up as the next manager of Liverpool FC.

Hicks today insisted the talks would not have resulted in the immediate dismissal of Rafael Benitez and that Klinsmann was only "an insurance policy."

He told the ECHO: "We attempted to negotiate an option, as an insurance policy, to have him become manager if Rafa left for Real Madrid or other clubs that were rumoured in the UK press.

"Or in case our communication spiralled out of control for some reason."

The ECHO can also reveal:

* Had Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League the club’s owners would have tried to replace Benitez.

* A deal was almost agreed for Dubai International Capital to buy a minority share in the club in the autumn, only for talks to collapse over the valuation of the club.

* Hicks is hopeful for a financial restructure and that plans for the new stadium will be released by the end of this week.

For the full story, see today's Liverpool Echo

Whatever one thinks of Rafa, these arseholes have been cranking up the pressure and trying to force him to quit since November. And he should not and won't, because if they're that intent on getting rid of him, to the extent that they'll knowingly fuck up our season to engineer his exit, he need to dig his heels in and make them sack him so that he can claim the millions of pounds he richly deserves from these two fuckfaces. A few more million on their debt might hasten the departure.

They NEED to be forced out before they do untold damage - we will become some sort of sordid, Newcastle style operation with them at the helm. And we only have them because Rick Parry wanted to keep his job! With these clowns in command, it wouldn't surprise me if - come next season - we've got Sam Allardyce at the helm. What sort of top, top manager is going to want a club which hasn't extravagant money to spend, stabbed its last incumbant in the back when they were making a serious title tilt, and are generally brash and without a clue?

That sums up things fairly well. The Yanks are a walking PR and financial disaster. On the other hand DIC wanted to buy us to sell on after a specified amount of time but in the short term they are our only option. It's 2008 and the club is going backwards. I'm surprised though the manager and players haven't managed to carve out a siege mentality regarding the background problems but that obviously hasn't happened. The owners don't want the manager and the players aren't playing for him. Not good. Thank fuck it's Luton up next.

Hicks and Gillette can fuck off, I'm fucking fuming here, take your (non-existant) money and shit off. Peter Robinson would never have let this happen so Rick Parry's a Gobshite too.

So now if DIC don't come in then Rafa will go, maybe not straight away but in the Summer at the latest. Just what we need, uncertainty and confusion.

Crikey, the Hicks statement is on the official site and everything. This is a pretty brave move - at least he's finally said they're supporting Rafa though.

I don't think the belated "backing" means much - Spurs did the same with Martin Jol, and there was simply no reason to release this if they weren't trying to crank up the pressure on Rafa.

In the same way O'Shea, Eboue and Pizarro etc wouldn't get anywhere near the Liverpool team?

O'Shea is as good as Finnan. Eboue is better. Pizarro is much, much better than Voronin.

See also: O'Shea doesn't get anywhere near the Man Utd team and Pizarro doesn't get anywhere near the Chelsea team, with everyone fit.

Benayoun and Voronin are FIRST CHOICE players for Liverpool, hence 39 points.

I reckon they're all better than Fletcher, O'shea, Wallcott, Kalou, Schevchenko and Pizzaro.

Edit: damn right!

In the same way O'Shea, Eboue and Pizarro etc wouldn't get anywhere near the Liverpool team?

O'Shea blatantly would get a game. He's better than Hyppia and as good as Finnan. He may not be spectacular but never lets anybody down. He's also a fuck load better than post injury Heinze at both CB and FB. The lad also scores last minute winning goals at away grounds ;)

You're not comparing like for like, anyhow. O'Shea and Fletcher are versatile squad players. That merry band of lightweight, ineffective shite that Disciple pointed out play on the wings and upfront for Scouse are (by in large) first choice, cost lots and are the reason why you've won about 3 games all season. They pretty much all were second choice signings after, for whatever reason, the first choice didn't materialize.

Radio 5 had an amazing stat yesterday during their coverage of the Sunderland game- apparently Sunderland have won more home games than you this season.

Edit- or, in the time that I posted that, what Synchronated said.

So why hasn't Voronin been a regular for Bayern Munchen for 6 years?

Pizarro can play. He hasn't shown it at Chelsea yet but he can play.

What's that got to do with anything? Why hasn't Defoe been a regular at Spurs for god knows how long? He can definitely play.

Pizarro HAS been a regular for Bayern for 6 years, that's why.

Voronin has never distinguished himself at club or international level by anything but his hair, and he never will.

Defoe argument is totally irrelevant. Voronin *has* been getting regular football but at clubs way lower than what Liverpool aspire to be, and has never finished top four with any club, ever. He was probably expecting to sign for a 2.Bundesliga outfit when Leverkusen let him go, and thought it was christmas when Rafa called.

The point is, we are talking about a Liverpool FIRST TEAM striker and Chelsea's FIFTH CHOICE striker, and Chelsea's fifth choice striker is demonstrably of much higher calibre than Voronin, who previous to Liverpool has never even played for a big four club anywhere let alone been a regular first-class performer.

He's still a FIRST TEAM striker.

Voronin is our FOURTH CHOICE striker, if you really must know.

How has someone with as many posts as you managed to go unnoticed on my retard radar up until now? Incredible.

Fourth choice? Pay attention. Sorry, but Rafa picks him ahead of Crouch and often ahead of Kuyt.

If they were fit, Pizarro would never, ever get picked ahead of Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Shevchenko, and nor would Voronin if he were to somehow get signed by Chelsea.

Turkeys like him and Benayoun getting regular games leads to Liverpool only having 39 points. It's quite simple
