Again there was slightly too much desire for a killer mid-long ball rather than pushing into the opponents half. It's almost a sign of over confidence or the belief that the goal will come easy. Gerrard has a tendency to do this when he starts dropping deep. Maybe it's a symptom of having crouch/torres on the pitch with their height/speed advantage..?

We could do with someone routinely in that Paul Scholes position who can pick up the ball in an advanced position if the wings aren't an option.

It is not the slating, it is the sheer bias in his voice when he commentates. He was gutted when we scored and overjoyed when we conceded a few minutes later. And it's not just because we're playing a lower league club. He does it pretty much whoever we are playing.

to be fair, he does that with every big club. i can't stand him commentating on united matches, mainly because he only ever picks up on what everyones is doing wrong. he's a twat.

I've always thought this, Gerrard can be equally dangerous when he's marauding around the opponents half but sometimes a bit more control is needed, keeping possession and pulling defenders out of position. Infact, we need Jari back, how old is he? :)

Yes, I think that's a symptom of playing say Mascherano, Alonso and Gerrard together as they all track back. Plus Kuyt's pace doesn't get him to a stray ball quickly...

What we need is a lazy attacking midfielder, maybe Benni would work in the role?

For what ever reason Andy Gray had a massive hard on for Mourinho's Chelsea. I'm not entirely sure why but he seemed to gush over them.

I miss King Luis. :)

When you look at Benitez's killer Valencia side they had Aimar in front of the midfield four and behind the striker. Garcia would have slotted in nicely in that type of role behind Torres this season. He certainly would have contributed more than Kuyt and Voronin at least.

He's probably the one player we're missing these season. I know he was annoying at times, but at least he scored.

I get the feeling the players have just given up recently. It wouldn't surprise me if the behind-the-scenes stuff is affecting them - like they're all thinking Rafa's gonna go.

He was my favourite player during his time with us. I know he frustrated many Liverpool fans in that time but the things he could do when on form, the consistent brilliance he produced in the big games and pretty much every Champions League appearance, as well as his refusal to hide when having a bad game and determination in following up chances meant I could forgive any sloppy pass he played. He always played with a smile on his face, too.

He never scored a bad goal either, some of them were truly beautiful.

I forgive the Atleti for taking him, though, because as was expected: Torres softened the blow somewhat. :)

LIVERPOOL manager Rafael Benitez is poised to move a step closer to reinforcing his central defence today.

His main target, Martin Skrtel of Zenit St Petersburg, is due to arrive on Merseyside for talks over a possible £4million transfer.

The international defender has already played on Merseyside this season having turned out for Zenit St Petersburg in their 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park last month in Group A of the UEFA Cup.

The 23-year-old helped his club to win the Russian Championship in the autumn and has 15 caps for Slovakia, having broken into the national team in 2004, the same year that he moved to Zenit from his first club, Trencin.

Skrtel, who is 6ft 3in and could have chosen a career in ice hockey, has netted three times in 74 appearances for Dick Advocaat’s side. His contract expires at the end of this calendar year.

Meanwhile, Daniel Agger has been named Denmark’s Footballer of the Year for 2007.

Good, we desperately need a new CB. And we need the owners to soon quash the speculation over Rafa once and for all or sack him on the spot. The Cowboys have fucked up bad, really bad. No financial boost, broken promises and unsettling the team and manager - All because Rick Parry didn't want to arrange a deal with a buyer who'd sack him!

I'm so angry after yesterdays performance.

Here's what should happen in the January tranfer window:

Kuyt - Out

Crouch - Out

Sissoko - Out

Mash - In

Defender - In

Another decent striker - In

Premiership title win!

Not gonna happen Das. Would be nice though, what kinda Striker would you be interested in? Any suggestions? Kenwyn Jones? Sunderland would never sell for a reasonable price though.

Would be brilliant to play Havant and Waterlooville, especially for them.

???

If the tall lad was given a fair chance to prove himself, he could play to his full potential. Unfortunately Rafa does not seem to play him just because he does not spend all his time as a midfielder like Kujit or Voronin.

Skrtel is a decent buy, but yet again I can't classify him as top four material.

Hi dizogg.

Yeah, I hate Kuyt more and more as each day passes. I like the boy 'Jones' you mentioned. A good lanky lad with an eye for goal and TERRIFIC strength and ability, eh? I'm not really sure, I'd like an obscure foreign lad to come in and just amaze everyone you know? A bit like Petrov for Man Blue, but a striker.

Thanks.

If we were to use the system as Valencia did, this would be the time to start looking at van der Vaart. He is keen to leave Hamburg at the end of the season and it is meant to be a dream of his to play in the premiership.

It would be fucking amazing if you play Havant and Waterlooville at home.

The press are going to love that one.

Yeah, Rocky Baptiste would bust up our manz. Did anyone see him interviewed on MOTD? It was fucking hilarious.

The press would also love Liverpool V Swansea

Roberto v Rafa

Paul Anderson playing against his own club (Roberto thinks he will be allowed)

Bussy playing against Torres, they were strike partners in U18'S and U20's for Spain.

Not to mention the previous Liverpool/Swansea connections. - Toshack, Molby, Emlyn Hughes.

I can't wait (provided we beat H&W).

It would probably be one of the bggest days in Swansea City's history – the most popular club in the city (LFC) against the second most popular (SCFC).
