So were they really celebrating like they won the champions league once they got the winner?

They were celebrating like they'd just got a winner in a Premiership game which looked certain to be 2 points dropped. Anyway what's your beef? Do your team not celebrate when they score? :D

Nah I'm just asking the question as Jeff Stelling said it. Yep Liverpool certainty proved today why they might win the premiership.

That's not truth. It's pretty stupid really.

I mean, is it also the sign of a good team to play badly and lose? Because we've done that in two out of the last four games. We lost one when playing well and we won one playing well too. How does that fit into things?

But a good result today! It still might not be all over!

In general we played quite well and should have wrapped the game up earlier.

Babel needs to be a little more direct or just get the cross in. He seems to think too much rather than just doing something instinctive. Just a little more confidence required.

Voronin is always ready for the turn and go but it's just not the current Liverpool style. Him and Kuyt are quite similar players or are performing similar functions.

Torres is getting better by the game. Another top quality goal this week...

Our passing is looking a lot better than it has done for quite some time. Quite fast and crisp when it gets going.

Derby were defending in numbers so the tough victory is kind of expected. Jewell looks like he has got them a bit more organised so another 6 goals wasn't likely.

I grew tired of the constant bickering and gave the thread a miss for a while. I just can't be bothered arguing in here all of the time. I'm all for a debate but it had become a bit ridiculous really, so I attempted to let things settle down. I'm going away for a few days tomorrow and then I'll be up in Liverpool for the Wigan game. Normal service will resume after that. :D

I've been impressed with some elements of our performances over the last few games. There is obviously room for improvement but we're still within touching distance of the leaders and the team is showing progression compared with this point last season. I'm quite happy with that. I said it was too early to talk about the title when we had our decent start and I still think that to be the case now. However, if we can build on this now I think Rafa can get us there eventually. Whether he'll be given the time to do so is another matter.

I've got some growing concerns about a few of our players, but it is clear that the squad has improved, and Xabi coming back will benefit the team enormously. Obviously, the same goes for Agger when he comes back.

I think the perception comes from the fact that Liverpool are by far the weakest team in the big four during the head to heads, at least in the league. If they can't sort that then they need to make damn sure that all of their performances outside of those games are convincing. Man U and Arsenal do not play well and drop points. Liverpool do.

Still, if Torres can learn to pull it off in the big games then he'll be untouchable next season.

Love the reporting on BBC news this morning. I almost spat my cornflakes out when they described Liverpool's title chase as being distant. Since when has being 6pts behind the leader* been distant?

*when they win their game in hand.

A game in hand is not a foregone conclusion you know especially as its not against Derby. I've seen lots of teams drop points in those situations.

As for Liverpool's title challenge, they're just about there. I can't really see an improvement from last year, especially as most Liverpool fans used the excuse that they had to travel to all the top three grounds in the first half of the season, which they lost. This year they played them all at home and have collected less points then they did last season.

But it's still only Christmas.

A few weeks ago Arsenal could've gone 7 points clear of United if they won their game in hand. Now, only a few weeks later, United are a point clear.

Liverpool can certainly catch up. They've just a lot of work to do.

Exactly, and as i've mentioned a few times before, post Christmas is usually Liverpool's strongest time.

The last few seasons I think we've gained more points than anyone in the second half of the season, haven't we? By my understanding, we were just to far behind by the time Crhistmas came round to make up the difference.

This year we're still in touch.

Squad rotation seems to prove its worth in the second half of the season. It leaves our players that 10% fresher.

If that rings true this year, and we get the rub of the green away at the Emirates, Bridge and Old Trafford, it could be every bit the four-horse race everybody's hoping for.
