Liverpool Football Club

Mind you, Gray has his tongue so far up Steven Gerrard's arse that it should make up for any amount of mild bias against the club as a whole.

He uses his admiration for Gerrard as a stick to beat Benitez with as well. Who started all of the 'Play Gerrard in the centre or lose him' shite? Whenever we have a bad result and Stevie has played 'out of position' either on the right, or in an advanced role behind the striker(s), he drones on and on about what you take away from his game by playing him there and speculates about how he may decide to leave if it continues. You hear no mention of what he offers the team from those positions when we have a win with him playing there. I'm sick and tired of talking about him, I've made my views on his punditry perfectly clear in here before now; he's a biased twat.

""To Kipkasper, I read that article and thanks for the link. But if the author is that interested in statistics, why he didn't find out how many of those 118 moves are because of injuries from United/Chelsea camp and how many of those 118 Liverpool moves are simply because of rotation. Maybe he is still right about Fergie/Mourinho bench as many players as Liverpool but should he dig deeper first?""

:o

Jesus, some people will just refuse to accept anything, seems like a common trait in United fans.

It just seems dumb, for the analysis he asks for to be even worthwhile you would have to assume we have far less injuries than everyone else. It doesn't make any sense...heh, the fact is which ever way you look at it they rotate as much, what's the worth of the reason anyway? It just seems like people constantly want any excuse to have a moan about Rafa, are they scared he's going to succeed?

I'd prefer to see Babel on the bench. We can't afford any passengers in this one and there's always a danger that he could have a quiet game. I'm expecting to see the 4-3-3 again but I wouldn't mind a 4-4-2 with close to the same team as last time out:

---------------Reina

Arbeloa--Carra--Hyypia--Riise

Yossi----Stevie--Masch---Kewell

----------Kuyt---Torres

Obviously that is taking for granted that Finnan and Xabi won't be passed fit to start. If Finnan can play I'd expect him to come in and Arbeloa would slot in at left back. If Xabi can play I'd expect to see the 4-3-3 again.

Still, long way to go yet.

Yeah, if the second half is anything like the first it will feel like another 2 hours!

Everything is played a million miles an hour which removes the skill, it is bizarre.

Does anyone know what Anderson/Gerrard were booked for? It didnt seem to be shown on Sky.

Liverpool can't really complain to be honest. They only had two chances themselves and it's not like they were dominating the game. It's not like last year when Utd were shit all game then scored in the last minute from the free kick.

Agree about the pace ruining the game, it's all bluster. I expect it to resume like that in the second half with Liverpool desperate to getback in the game early.

yes, because getting stuck in and having two shots cleared off the line means we can't be arsed

This isnt really what I meant, what I meant was that it doesnt seem to matter what we do in these games we will still lose 1-0 :D

What makes it even more frustrating is just how badly Man U played, I dont think I have ever seen Ronaldo so ineffective (maybe since the same fixture last year!).

But what did Liverpool create in the second half? They didn't have a single chance as good as Rooney's. Admittedly that's because Liverpool had to leave more gaps in their defence, but there was no cutting edge from Liverpool. Liverpool's big chances were down to Van Der Sar more than anyone.

Ronaldo was poor, but so were Kuyt and Torres. Hard for Liverpool to make up the ground with them also away to the top three clubs in the second half of the season.

Oh yeah I know. Liverpool played poorly too. The thing is that the first goal was always going to be so important - I am sure if we went 1-0 up from one of the mistakes early on it probably would have stayed that way too. Man U defended in numbers and defended well, they were very hard to break down and Liverpool ran out of ideas.

Maybe we will be gifted a penalty for nothing when we are away to Chelsea, that should make things a bit easier. :D

Stupid number of "fans" leaving with a few minute sto go, it was only 1-0 ffs stay and support your team or is five minutes really gonna get them home that much quicker? Not just Liverpool but every team drives me crazy it really does.

Anyway 'Pool were pretty dominant but couldnt seem to finish it off, thems teh breaks i guess.

I wouldn't really say dominant. They had lots of possessing but nothing to show for it. When Ronaldo wasn't tracking back Liverpool should have done much better on the left side, once Rooney went on the right they ran out of ideas. Babel looked great when he came on.

Mate, have you ever been to a football match and tried to drive home afterwards? It's absolute carnage...

My parents have Reading season tickets and the 20 minute drive home on match days can take hours because of traffic. if the game is crap (like this one) why stay?
