Not even sure we were ever likely to get him. Reports from Spain constantly mentioned us as a possible destination but the British press always stated that it wasn't an even considered.

I hate transfer window season.

Damn that's a frustrating one. Even though we sagged in the middle of the match, we did enough in the first and last 20 minutes of the game to win that by a couple of goals on another day.

Eight shots on target, 20 in total, zero goals. Bah. Unsurprising that Coloccini has been chosen as MOTM. Shame we let the foot off the gas for long periods of the game, as well as Newcastle defended I don't think they would've been able to withstand that for any more than 10-15 minute spells.Valencia for Darmien was a bit of a sideways move. I would've liked to see Herrera come on at some point, he's one of our more clinical finishers. Young might've been worth a shout too. Maybe it would've been worth starting one of those two for Januzaj or Depay, who both did okay, but their inexperience still tells at times.

Rooney looked level to me for the offside decision. Can understand why the linesman would've seen it differently in realtime though.

You could see Pedro scoring on his debut from a mile away. Not the type of player we want apparently. Baffling after yesterday's game.

The Neymar rumours need to fuck off though.

I still like the idea of Januzaj getting more of a chance, but it's hard watching Pedro scoring one, making another, and getting a fully-deserved man of the match reward without wondering what might have been. Especially after another ineffective attacking display yesterday.

Of course, Neymar's imminent arrival will limit Januzaj's game-time.

I'd love for Ander Herrera to start the next game, every time that I've seen him play he's down well in providing the creative spark and incisive passes that we currently need (with the exception in the few games last season where he was asked to play in the holding midfield role).

It would be nice as well to see Mata in the central role behind Rooney, and having Januzaj on the wing. That should provide more speed down the flanks and allow for a more experienced head (Mata's) in the #10 role.

Mata as #10 is common bloody sense. Why he persists with these decisions is beyond me. The 5-3-2, Rooney in midfield, di Maria up front.
