The old Man Utd Thread

So De Gea is not playing against Spurs as LVG thinks he can't handle it. Pretty much means he's a goner then :(

We've known this for months though. Pretty moronic for LvG not to sell and get a replacement. This just before the season starts doesn't help in the slightest.

Maybe it was his plan so there wasn't loads of pressure on Johnstone in pre season

I'm happy with Johnstone to play at the weekend but long term we need a functioning De Gea or a top quality replacement to even try challenge.

Does anyone here go to home games during a season but doesn't have a season ticket? If so, what is availability like? I want to get to more games this year (rather than pre-season games) but I don't want to pay for a membership (£54 for myself and my Son) if there's no chance I can actually purchase any tickets for league games.

I'm not necessarily talking about going to the big games (City, Liverpool, Arsenal etc) but any home league games would be good to see this year.

The last two years I've mostly bought tickets when they are released to members in pre season (end of June I think) but I don't remember it being too hard getting some closer to the time of the games last season, I got two Southampton tickets the week before iirc. If you call the ticket office close to match day they often have returns/cancellations that they don't put online, the only issue is getting two next to each other, if they're on the same row I imagine people would move along for you.

The bigger games are all balloted, only managed to get arsenal tickets last season and that was through the reserve list.

Here we go then fellas. I'm looking forward to the season, but I wish we'd have wrapped up a few things first. The De Gea situation is looking increasingly lost, so I would have liked us to have had that concluded sooner. We're still in need of a decent centre back, but I'm hoping the De Gea saga is still undecided due to us not budging until we get Ramos. And it would have been nice to have Pesto done and dusted as soon as we knew Di Maria was on his way.

Still, there's time yet to do a bit more business, and it should be an interesting campaign.

Fingers crossed we get off to a good start this year.

I wonder what will happen to Herrera this season. I think he's going to struggle to get a look in to be honest, unless both Carrick and Schwein get injured at the same time.

Excited to see what the season brings. Not sure we're going to be challenging for the league but I feel like a top 3 finish is a realistic aim. I think a lot more pressure is going to be on Van Gaal though. A season later and more than 200 million (probably more?) spent, people are going to want to see progress. He can't fall back on the 'learning my philosophy, it took several months to click at Barca/Bayern' excuse again.
