The old Man Utd Thread

United arent really much good at selling players - the fees involved always appear to be too low.

Especially when it comes to South Americans. We've let Veron, Kleberson, Forlan, Anderson, and maybe Di Maria go at a loss. We did make a small profit from the sale of Heinze.

Rafael is worth more than the amount Lyon reportedly paid (not that I wanted him to leave).

Here's a very nice article about a letter that Rafael wrote to his twin Fabio. I can strongly feel his emotions and attachment to Man Utd in his words. Will miss him!

To be fair, I struggle to think many players we've sold cheaply who has gone on to look a bargain (except for Forlan and arguably Ronaldo, Evra?).

Kleberson - Dunno what he's up to

Berbatov - Been decent but factor in wages

Anderson - I'm looking and he's only played 4 times for his new club

Veron - Played like 10 times for Chelsea

And then you've got the likes of Gibson etc who was sold below value but its the dynamics of deal - complete and utter deadwood

Being reported that Louis managed to squeeze another £3m out of PSG for Di Maria because of him posting pictures of himself in Doha.

We are also apparently 'in advanced talks' for Pedro. I hope this one comes off personally, be a good player to have with LVG rumoured to be favouring a front-three of Depay, Rooney and hopefully, Pedro.

Pedro would be a great signing and a front 3 of Memphis, Rooney and Pedro looks rather good. You just know that LvG will come out with some weird system though.

I think I'll definitely miss Rafael more than Di Maria, for all that Di Maria is a great player. Di Maria did have a habit of being a bit over-ambitious in possession and giving the ball away, especially when things weren't going well. I love the idea of us forcing PSG to pay another £3m because of the photos, but that seems fanciful. I doubt it's true. Pedro would be a very good replacement, a different sort of player, but well suited to a 4-3-3. He's quick, direct, and an excellent finisher. He could do very well. Barca fans love him, which tells you something about him.

Isn't Pedro a diving cnut? Or am I thinking of Sergio Biscuits?

Who's the guy who pretended to be hurt but was peeking through his fingers?

They both are, but Biscuits considerably more. That's who you are probably thinking of, and it was indeed him who was peeking through his fingers.

Pesto and a central defender before the start of the season and I'll be happy.

Is there anyone on the cards, or is vG gonna wing it, like Fergie did with the midfield for all those years?

I reckon we might still have a blockbusting headscratcher of a transfer in us before the window closes. We clearly still need a dominant central defender (all the trails have gone cold on those at the moment though) and Pesto would be great as well, but I reckon we might end up with Bale or someone instead/as well.

I left Pogba out because ran his contract down, so it wasn't really useful as a measure of United's negotiating ability imo

Or Pique. That's another huge one that got away.

Stam was probably Fergie's biggest transfer sale error. I'd include Van Nistelrooy too. Possibly Tevez considering. Maybe even Phil Neville.

I forgot about Pique! Shame he was just coming along when we had prime Rio and Vidic.
