The old Man Utd Thread

I wasn't impressed by Muller when I watched him in the Champions League tie against Man Utd two seasons ago. Changed my mind after seeing him at the World Cup. Whilst he lacks speed and doesn't have the best first touch, his smart movement and ability to find space won me over. Still, I don't think he's worth the amount being quoted in the media.

I highly doubt Bayern will sell another player to us in this transfer window.

Pedro reports are picking up the pace, much like the Schweinsteiger ones did. I could see it happening, but not at the expense of Di Maria (I hope). I could see us loaning Januzaj out for a season.

Yeah, Pedro signing does seem to be picking up pace. I think its linked to Di Maria leaving though, otherwise I'm not sure it make sense. Januzaj needs a loan too, was poor last season when given the chance and he's not looked much different in the, albeit two pre season games.

Valencia is now considered a full-back (and first choice according to LVG), so we have Depay, Young, Lingard, Januzaj and Di Maria at the moment. I think Januzaj will go out on loan. Lingard might get minutes in the Cup competitions, but I've got a feeling we'll start with Young, Di Maria, Depay and Pedro (if we buy him) as our wide attackers.

I think Di Maria is on his way, far too much chatter for it not to be a possibility anyway! I'm now in the camp of I'll be surprised if he's here come the start of the season. Pretty shit that our record signing wants out after a season seemingly. Woodward and Co might be a little red faced if he does indeed leave too.

As for Valencia being first choice right back, I think that was a miscommunication. At the time he was talking about fighting for places and mention Darmian was brought in as a second choice to Valencia. I took it as a second option to Valencia. LvG has gone on record many a time saying on one is first choice and players will play on merit. Annoying that doesn't seem to be the case with Captain Rooney, but yeah.

Glad Di Maria has gone. A player I always loved and was gutted when he signed for Utd. Think he has a lot more to offer Utd, so I'm sort of surprised he has moved on after just one season. Pedro should be a good replacement but I still would have stuck with Di Maria to see how he performed in year 2. Still, can get back to liking him now. ;)

Here's what I'm struggling with. Di Maria has said TWICE that we haven't seen the best of him and traditionally, he takes a season to bed into a new team. Obviously the attempted break-in will have had an effect on him and his family.

However, the French equivalent of Marca has been reporting the same shit for the last three weeks with little to no new news. So again, they pull a figure out of their arse and everyone starts running with it. Add to the fact the article says Angel is 28 and still on holiday.

If he leaves, it'll be due to family reasons I think. Personally, it's all French-media driven bollocks until the club say otherwise, who incidentally, don't want to sell Angel.

This will get even worse when we play PSG in a few days as well.

Well the BBC are reporting that Di Maria hasn't joined up with the United squad as LvG said he would and that he's gone to PSG's training ground for a medical instead.
