I agree. Just to be clear, those three aren't necessarily who I want, just who I think we'll sign. I believe RVP and Hernandez will go so no doubt we'll buy a striker. I don't think Spurs will sell Kane so I think we'll end up doing something slightly desperate and sign someone like Cavani or Berahino.

Anyway, the Mirror have this pointless piece about how we could field an all LVG team against Tottenham on the opening day.

The Schweinsteiger deal could happen, but like the Ramos one, wouldn't be surprised to see it tail right off. Schneiderlin and Otamendi in next please Louis.

The Schweinsteiger deal looks to be a bit more serious than some of the other paper stories. Great signing if it happens.

Looks like Schweini just wanted to experience another club and another league while he's still able to play at the top level. I expect he is the competition / eventual replacement for Carrick at the base of our midfield. This is great because we really, really need someone who can act as a leader and dictate play when he's not available, and Bastian is completely capable of doing that. I had assumed to pry him away we would have to throw money at Bayern, but it looks like he actually wanted to go so we've got him for a pretty reasonable £15m.

It looks like, unlike some had suggested, the deal for Schniderlin wasn't contingent on Schweinstieger staying in Munich, so we're still after him. I think that's good because otherwise it's still only Herrera who can provide real mobility in the centre. Think we need a central defender still... I hope the Darmian deal gets sorted soon to fill the Rafael-shaped hole that has existed in the squad for several years.

Second string is then:

I think Januzaj may go on loan, we're pretty stacked on the wings.

Does anyone have a clue what the MUFC strongest starting team will be next season? So many players to pick. Seems RVP is going which is madness?

Yeah he's gone, I think it makes sense as his powers are obviously waning, plus him and Wayne were never a natural partnership. Rooney is obviously going to be unopposed as the main striker in a 4-3-3 next season, regardless of who we sign, as there isn't anyone better than him in the market. I think that's for the best really, I want to see him have a long run playing up front again. Hernandez and Wilson are likely to be his understudies, could push Fellaini up there in a pinch.

I have no idea what to think of Casillas going to Porto, which would suggest De Gea is moving, and Valdez talking to some Turkish club, which would suggest he is staying. I think he will go though, he won't sign a new contract for us, and Madrid will eventually up their bid to a level we can't reasonably refuse for a keeper with one year left. Lindegaard only has a year left on his contract two, suggesting we may need two new keepers this summer!

You finished fourth in a very, very weak league with a weak side. I guess you're right that everyone should always be aiming for the title but do you realistically think you could win it next season?
