The old Man Utd Thread

Mourinho won't let Cech come to us, any fee for Lloris would be astronomical as Levy loves fucking with us. I'd be happy promoting Victor Valdes and using the DDG cash to strengthen other areas.

Hardly. But that's what happens when you sign continental players, who wouldn't want to return home where the weather is better and to your native language, food, friends, family, etc. If de Gea does go yeah it'll be a blow but we've got a guy on the books who played in the greatest club side of all time and is still only 32, Valdes could do a job for us for years to come.

We'll be lucky to get 30m for DDG which is scandalous really. I know goalkeepers tend to cost less than strikers but he's won us more points than any striker we've got this season and should ideally sell for 60m

This is a pretty staggering statistic. I didn't know the difference was quite so vast:

The value of a high-class midfielder to United is illustrated in how results dip when Michael Carrick is unavailable. This year he has featured in 18 Premier League matches and missed 18. With Carrick in the side United have won 13 times, a 72.2% success rate that has yielded an average of 2.3 points per outing. Without Carrick there have been seven victories, a fall-off that drops the win percentage to 38.9, at an average of 1.4 points per match.

That looked like a proper farewell from Falcao there. I'm going to be keeping an eye on DDG when the game ends.

Edit: just as I'm typing that he gets injured and subbed off. No obvious signs of saying goodbye there, but we'll see better after the game finishes

Quote from LVG:

"It is not easy to choose between two great clubs. We would be very happy if he stays. Of course he is Spanish and his girlfriend is Spanish and he can go to another great club, so it is difficult for him to decide.

"David De Gea shall not leave us so easily because we are a great club and he wants to participate."

He's pretty much a goner at this point :(

Makes sense for him, such a huge loss for us though. Alongside Carrick he's been our most important player this season. Hopefully Valdes will be a solid replacement. I reckon it will be a 35M fee. I'd love a deal involving Bale but I can't see that happening. Wouldn't mind Varane either.

Arsenal have just scored against West Brom so you may be less torn. Think they'd have to score three or so now and we'd have to tonk Hull 5-0 or thereabouts to stand a chance of finishing third.

*edit*

...aaand it's 2-0
