The old Man Utd Thread

Di Maria's really gone off the boil in the last few games. Disappointing after such a good start, he needs to feature more centrally I just don't think he's an out-and-out winger.

He forged a career being a winger though, its not as if its an alien position to him. Granted he moved centrally for Madrid and excelled and I do think he's better in a central position but he should be doing a lot better than what he's doing at the moment on the wing. I do prefer him on the right wing though where he naturally drifts centrally.

Herrera is fit right? Just hasn't been 100% after the rib injury, he's been on the bench most games of late. I think he has to play if Carrick and Blind are both out. Otherwise it's what, Fletcher? Who was only fit enough for a run out against Ireland. I think you take Rooney or Januzaj out of that XI for him. Arsenal are about as ravaged at the back as us, so it ought to be interesting.

Quite concerned about McNair, Blackett and Lindegaard. They've all individually put in good performances for us, but they've never played together.

There's no way your bantertastic back five will make the slightest bit of difference at the weekend. We couldn't even beat you last season so defeat is utterly inevitable now.

Lindegard will play like Lev Yashin on PEDs, Monreal will concede a penalty after Flamini gives the ball away cheaply in midfield, and Van Persie will score from the spot for a 0-1 win.

How can you even be slightly worried? You trounced us a few years back with a midfield of Rafael, Gibson, O'Shea and Fabio. Arsenal can't beat Utd anymore, it doesn't matter what players you put out or even if you have David Moyes as your manager. It simply can't happen.

Wierd lineup. You assumed from the team sheet that Di Maria would be in a central role (which many think is his best position) but he's one of the most advanced players. Don't think this is going to get the best out of anyone, and the extra numbers in defence doesn't really help much if they aren't playing together. Would've been better off playing Herrera instead of one of the centrebacks, and letting Carrick sit very deep in front of the defence, surely.

Or we could just play terribly and still end up winning somehow, further deepening their psychological block against us.

All kidding aside, I'll be highly concerned if we come out in the second half playing anything like this. Arsenal's players should be embarrassed for not having blown us away already.

Seems like we still don't know how to take advantage of our formation; though some promising attacks with three or four of us pelting up front. Can't deny it hasn't been exciting; that lad Chambers looks really comfy, easily the best player on the pitch.

If we switch to 451 I can see something coming out of it. Herrera for van Persie, keeping Fellaini as attacking as he's been. He should be helping out in centre mid but regardless, he's putting a shift in and did well not to blow his top with Wilshere.
