The old Man Utd Thread

The video they posted up doesn't look much better either. It's like a shirt version of the shirt from three or four years ago with the white and black collar, the button from last year and a completely unnecessary logo in the middle. Why couldn't they just have the logo without text, in the style of the AON logo (just white)?

Presumably Chevy don't approve use of their logo in those forms. Aon are handy for things like this in that their logo is their name and very simple. Chevrolet has to be with the wording and all that jazz.

Wouldn't have been a massive stretch, just make the middle of the logo the same yellow as the crest, and the surround white. Then it would match the shirt colours. It is a poor design generally though tbh.

Yeah, but... Chevy don't do that. When you look at it closely, it's a really odd logo, weird textures and gradients. I presume somewhere they must have some mono logo for crap print but they want the logo on the shirt to be the one people see (almost) everywhere else. Even if it doesn't suit it that well. It's legible which is what they've paid for, aesthetics are well down the list. Must be painful for the guys who design the shirt itself.

I seriously hope United don't renew their deal with Nike. Ignoring the shit sponsorship logo the shirt still stinks up the place. It's got about as much creativity as a two year olds crayon scrawl.

I'd heard that Nike, Adidas and Warrior were bidding. I hope Adidas get the deal. Nike are a bit boring and Warrior kits are horrific.

as a LFC fan I'd love it if you got Warrior in a 'misery loves company' kind of way, although they're not too bad the new ones

Warrior are US-based and loads of deals since the Glazers took over have been American so I kind of thought they were most likely, but all the rumours I've heard were that Adidas are in. Amazing how much the club can persuade people to pay them these days.

Been rumoured that Adidas are willing to shell out £75m per year on this deal.

Madrid currently get £31m.

How much do we receive from Chevrolet as well? Those two combined could be some serious sponsorship money every year. Jesus.

The club also receives 15m a year for Aon to sponsor the training kit and have the training ground, that everybody still calls Carrington, named after them. The Aon deals, the Chevy shirt ones are all on 8-10 year contracts too so it's guaranteed money for a long time especially with the crazy TV money. Like I say, the club has never been richer.

Wow, didn't realise it was so much.

Looks like Evra is on his way now, that's a lot of experience leaving the team all at the same time. LvG has his work cut out for this season I feel.

Thought Evra had just signed a 1 year extension?

Edit: Lots of newspapers saying he's going to Juve for £2m and we're possibly picking up Vidal.

it looks like they only gave him the new contract in order to guarantee that we got a fee, doesn't it? so if he goes, and with Buttner already gone, who's the cover at left back? what if Shaw gets injured?

Vidal would be great though. :)

Phil Jones O'Shea!

Also talk of Daley Blind being lined up if Evra does go, which I guess isn't too bad.

At least after last season, LVG won't have as much pressure on him had we just won the league or whatever. As long as we play decent football and hopefully finish top 4 he'll be golden.

The talk was Evra had a clause in his contract that either side could activate, which would extend it by a year if he played more than 50% of games last season. Who knows which side decided on the extra year.

Will be sad if he goes though he's needed replacing for years. Such a weird way the club has gone about dealing with legends of late. Vidic announces he's off, signs for another club and gets a presentation and game time. Rio gets told in the showers, moments after the final game by a no mark that he won't be staying and doesn't get any chance to say bye.

Evra seems to be going in the same way, though who knows just why. All seems a bit odd. Maybe it pays credence to the Vermalen talk as he'd be LB cover as well as a ball playing CB, with a specialist big name CB brought in too.

Vidal would be a dream signing, exactly what we need. Can do everything, box to box with bags of energy and crucially has a personality that sees him as demonstrative and a character on the field as opposed to the meek lot we've had for years. Shame it's total pie in the sky transfer talk, but if it could happen... man it'd be perfect.

Hopefully finish fourth, what kind of talk is that from a United supporter. Only lesser teams like Liverpool dream of a fourth spot.
