It's just impossible to forget what he did to his brother.

No it's not. I had, until you mentioned it there. And I'll forget about it again in 5 mins. Why does that have to be brought up? Shit happens but it doesn't affect how he should be viewed by our fans. George Best did much worse but is still adored by fans. Giggs' private life has nothing to do with his professional life and until it starts affecting his professional life it shouldn't be mentioned when talking about Giggs the footballer. You may think he's a prick for whatever he did but that is irrelevant when talking about football. Too much tabloid and gossip mag reading methinks.

I dunno, growing up for a lot of people I think they looked and Giggs and thought 'fuck that guy is amazing' and he still is amazing, but you can't deny that doing the dirty on your brother is going to take some of the shine off the hero worship that a lot of people undoubtedly have for him. I don't think it's that outrageous to feel conflicted about him.

Stretford End Flags have been touting for months the creation of a Sir Bobby banner with the words 'This Charming Man'.

So what do City fans go and do? Cunts.

Isn't that song about being propositioned by an elderly homosexual? Is that intentional or like when people play Love Will Tear Us Apart at weddings?

Nobody over the age of five has heroes, do they?

I mean, surely most people can recognise his talent and the fact he did the dirty on his brother, but are able to separate the two without much conflict.

I don't really give a shit what he does in his private life so long as it doesn't impact on his job. Apparently he messed about for 8 years so I think it's fair to say it was irrelevant in terms of his footballing performance. It's in the interest of him, his family and the people directly affected and I don't see what it has to do with football.

The time I have an issue is when somebody like Rooney has a bad story and that then results in another period of bad form because he isn't mentally strong enough to deal with it.

The self appointed voice of the fans Stretford End Flags don't really think about stuff like the meaning of songs and suitability. All they care about is atrocious wordplay on songs from Manchester bands for their terrible banners. ADORED was an awful tribute to a wonderful, once in a lifetime player, FEAR (For Every Manc A Religion) was even worse and doesn't even make sense along with being based on a terrible record by a fucking nothing artist.

Instead of the Manchester band obsession they should try something different. Though given they're Glazer stooges and obtain their funding through them it's little surprise they tow the line and create such insipid efforts.

To complain about City stealing a banner is weird as they should have made that banner if they wanted too- instead they made the infamous Moyes one that nobody wanted or asked for and was voted on by about 40 people.

Southampton v Man Utd will be shown live on the Syfy channel. Seems like a fitting end to our season.

Think Charlton has gone senile:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27337659

I've thought about this a bit more and its actually annoyed me. I'd feel the same if someone like Kenny Dalglish said the same at Liverpool. You can't guarantee anything in football, so you're just treating your fans like stupid idiots tbh.

Combined with the sentence "We will have to buy a couple of players, which will happen" makes it even funnier. So which two players are Man Utd going to buy to take them above City next season?!

Bizarre.

He was talking at the end of season awards ceremony to an audience on United fans. His words weren't meant for public consumption and were appropriate given the situation and audience. Taken out of context they look ridiculous, obviously.

I don't know anything about Van Gaal really, only what journalists have said recently, but my concern is that he's coming to the end of his career and I wonder whether the desire is there. I think about the most successful, overachieving managers in the last few years, Jupp Heynckes being the exception, they're all at the beginning of their long career with everything to prove, they do so much more than just take on a role and guide the team as best they can, they attack their job with an obsession that shows it means everything to them, and they seek to revolutionize the whole setup of the club. Van Gaal will be driven to succeed in a league he's never been in, but if it doesn't work out, will he really care?

There's some parallels with Capello taking on the England role, he'd won everything, was taking his last dream job before retirement (though that didn't turn out to be true), and like England, it's beginning to feel like whatever the players on the field there is no cohesion, they don't play. I don't think the players are being coached properly, or guided, educated. Whatever is happening on the training field every day is not being directed by a leader who has ideas of how he wants his players to play. I think the recent games show not that the 'players are rubbish, get rid of em', but that there's more to management than saying 'play for the pride in wearing the shirt, give it your all, play like you did last season'..while being the most decorated player and respected player at the club giving that advice.

I want Valencia to not play because he's so one dimensional it hurts, but i think Young is more flexible and not a pure headless winger. I've not written off any of the players, but when people actually want Van Persie to leave there is no point arguing with that reactionary anger directed at any player being poor and ineffective in a team that strangles them.

From what I gather, Van Gaal is passionate but not a 'dictator', much more of a coach and teacher than Ancelotti (who tends to be good at going into a team and not imposing his own ideas, but allowing them to gradually affect the team - Joe Cole said he won't force changes, but suggest them and months later you realise you're doing it his way without realising) who promotes youth and trusts them. I think people are underestimating Januzaj's talent, he says he wants to be the best in the world, and he might eventually take the number 7 shirt, and the last person who took it and said those words was quite good..

His desire and determination and single minded focus is rare I think, and maybe he's chosen Belgium because it's more realistic, i think to delay the decision till now showed his unwavering passion to do the correct thing, and this decision shows his ambition. He's been the only player all season to want to do something individual and effective when he has the ball, every time, and does so in a team that doesn't function.

So I would prefer Van Gaal to implement real changes over Ancelotti. It's a blessing that Van Gaal knows Van Persie and will hopefully keep him. I am optimistic that Van Gaal will provide a different perspective, see the player and not the reputation, see the players and adapt to their skills, and not switch them around endlessly in a 442. Man United's philosophy is surely just attacking flair and guile. But they're becoming unbearable to watch. Like England, there is a slimmer of hope, I like Sturridge, Lallana, they'll be good right, and then it begins and I remember that my expectations over the years have been adjusted, and just getting near the opposition goal at home against Denmark is an achievement.

I hope Van Gaal being so distant from this country he will just see the players available and being a coach who loves footballers will just see their untapped talent. I want a fluid attacking four of Mata, Kagawa, Januzaj, Van Persie. Apparently, according to work colleague whose sister who plays for Man City women's team, whose coach is a friend of Phil Neville, the Ferdinand forced to watched training videos of Jagielka rumour are true. At least Moyes' reign was funny, I guess, though I can only laugh now that it's over.

What?

Just seems as reliable as my Dads mate down the pub who's brother is friends with the cousin of someone who works with someone who is best friends with someone else who works at Sony who said the PS5 is going to be out this Christmas.

I just thought I'd add it, maybe any information that's travelled through several people is a waste of time to you. But there's been a load of rumours and stories that have come out which sound too funny to be true, and that was one of them, and I'm keen on knowing what went on during the season. He brought it up, not as 'ha look what I read in the paper !' but 'my sister told me...'. He's told me stuff before, prefaced with, 'this is not me saying this, but what I've been told'. No idea why anyone would lie. His sister does play for the Man City women's team, it sounds plausible that she has a coach who knows Phil Neville and this coach and his players discuss what's happening at the club.

Dreadful first half from us, absolutely zero movement up front. Saints worth their goal lead.

If it is Van Gaal coming in, then at least we'll have someone doing a rebuilding job with our attacking traditions in mind.
