The old Man Utd Thread

I still think you'll win through. Perhaps the game at the weekend will galvanise the team plus, without Mata playing there's a chance you'll have a better shape and be a bit more solid in midfield. I think a lot will depend on whether RvP fancies getting involved in things and if you can keep things a hell of a lot more tight than you did on Sunday.

*Ahem*

Well called Gabe.

Unfortunately I'm still at work, but I've just had a look at the result and it's looking good. I was just wondering how we've been?

Edit: what bleeders said, but please don't let them score.

We've gone into our shell since going ahead on aggregate. It would be lunacy to try and hold on for this scoreline, as Olympiakos are still creating chances. We desperately need to score another one, or I can see another Moyes disaster unfolding. Remember a 3-1 scoreline sends us out!

Could you imagine Bale or Ronaldo running at Evra... at the moment seems like I could get past him with a mild jog down the touchline.

The last eight for once has no weak teams (apart from us), every game could be quite close. Dortmund or Atletico we might be able to give a game. The others would be at least 4-0 on aggregate.

Where do you see your team in terms of strength of those in the last eight? Arguably, on recent form at least, you're the weakest of the quarter-finalists I'd say.

Watch us go on to win the Champions League and put paid to my well orchestrated 'Moyes Out' campaign.

I didnt watch all of the match last night but what I saw was a huge improvement. As much as I enjoyed our win on the weekend, I can't help but want to have those wins against a fully functioning Utd and last night there were glimpses of that side. I don't think you have a hope in hell of winning the competition but at least there are shoots of recovery showing.

As much as it would be nice to think this is the start of something special and hilarious, the best thing about it is that Moyes now gets the chance to be shown up for what he is by one of the powerhouses.

Not to worry, he's suspended for the next match. Ronaldo and Bale might have to deal with the mighty Buttner instead.

Good result for us last night, but speaks volumes when we're wheeling Giggsy out again over Kagawa, Cleverley or Fellaini.

It was a small improvement over our recent form. Our aggression going forwards was decent, except for the last 20 when we sat back. Had the type of chances Olympiacos had fallen to a better striker, then we'd have been in trouble. Thankfully, we saw it through, but I don't fancy our chances much in the next round whoever we get.

There have been too many 'false dawns' this season, but if we can get through Saturday's game against West Ham with a win and by some minor miracle, the City game, then maybe our fortunes will begin to turn.

Remember when we used to score goals like this (1m 18s)? Someone might want to tell Moyes the ball doesn't have to be pumped into the box all the time.
