The old Man Utd Thread

It really isn't me! I saw it on the BBC gossip column this morning. Honest, guv.

I'm just known as being one of the original Moyes Out gang around here and thought it was funny. Evidently the lad who got it done did too, signing it off with an exclamation mark.

You'd imagine that everybody at the club - if they were honest - knew that the squad wasn't great last season and Fergie did a tremendous job to win the title (helped by the fact that nobody else could sustain any kind of challenge). So with that in mind I don't think the Glaziers would sack him without giving him at least another Summer to rebuild.

I suppose the real crux though is that the United board haven't been in this position in recent memory, so nobody really knows how they'll react and perhaps the trigger-finger will itch sooner rather than later? There are a couple of articles on BBC about it all which make some valid points, one of which is losing the support of the crowd. I think if that happened wholesale then that might change things.

With all that said, I do think you'll probably beat Olympiakos in the CL home tie and progress, which will lift the mood a bit.

I feel a little bit for Giggs. I don't know why - I'm not a United fan - but I think it's maybe that he deserves to retire on a high like Scholes and Ferguson did, as champions, not whimper away after a finish in 7th, or wherever you finish next season with him having only played a handful of games.

This is assuming he actually retires in the next couple of years obviously. You might well be champions again by the time he actually does hang up his boots.

Just came across this.

Quite bizarre as it says.

"Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Darren Fletcher, Shinji Kagawa and Fellaini have only scored two league goals between them this season and, incredibly, do not boast one goal assist. That is absolutely bizarre for a Manchester United midfield."

... A scuffed 2 yarder to rescue a point at Sunderland if I remember?!

no, wasn't his second when he deflected someone else's shot into the net? it was either a fluke that just went in off him or a cunning finish showing lightning reflexes and great awareness. in retrospect, probably the former.

I've been in work all day, cut off from civilisation, so could you clarify - did we lose 3-0 but put in a better performance, or did we actually win 3-0?

It's probably a silly question isn't it? Still, at least it was a better performance. Who scored West Brom's goals?

Solid line-up, Fellaini needs his time on the pitch and I suppose now he'll get it. Jones in defence was a welcome addition also - wasn't an exciting game but a win's a win. Confidence is really what we need right now - glad RVP was subbed as it was looking as if he could have been sent off (and perhaps should have been also).

Man Utd: De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Vidic, Evra, Fellaini, Carrick, Mata, Rooney, Januzaj, van Persie

Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Flanagan, Henderson, Gerrard, Allen, Sterling, Sturridge, Suarez

Happy with the line-up today, not overly confident though.
