The old Man Utd Thread

Today was a blast from the past. True, Blackburn were terrible, but I haven't seen us play with such speed and attack in such numbers and with such ferocity for a long time.

Pretty much this. It was a fantastic display and that third goal I think was incredible. The one where Berba is at left back, back heels it to Evra then plays a beautiful ball to Nani before getting on the end of it to score.

Thought Rooney looked fit, happy and in decent form. It's all starting to fall into place somehow if we can maintain the form at Blackpool next week.

I don't know what's more bizarre from the fact we've yet to lose, we are on the same GD as Chelsea or that Berba is leading scorer despite not scoring for years and looking rank awful of late but either way it's all set up nicely.

Some of the interplay between the forwards was lovely at times, especially the goal you mentioned. A lot of the one-twos were particularly reminiscent of the Yorke/Cole partnership.

Nice to see Carrick/Anderson have a decent game together but Blackburn didn't exactly make life difficult for them.

Great goals by Welbeck and Cleverly yesterday too, this season might not be shaping up too badly after all. Clevely it was probably expected of (by people who have followed him for the last few years anyway) but it's really good to see Welbeck playing well as there were a lot more doubts about him. That's not to say he'll make it at United but he doesn't look remotely out of place in the PL.

The table does look rather lovely right now.

Been having some fun with the guardian chalkboards. Rooney attempted most passes, 108, though Carrick and Anderson completed more passes. Anderson completed 94 passes, only 4 not finding their target, which is incredible considering how much he was getting forward. This confirms what I thought watching the game; Anderson and Rooney were very lively, and linked the attack and midfield rather brilliantly. They're both really strong with the ball at their feet, running at defences, and they both looked 100% fit and sharp for the first time in ages. Rafael made 14 tackles, only one of which he didn't win. We didn't play Fletch or Scholes, imo our two best midfielders. Yes, Blackburn were rather absent, but it's a remarkable performance nonetheless. Hopefully we can consolidate this form, and take it into the approaching games against our title rivals. With any luck, we'll have some daylight between them and us by the halfway mark.

Yeah, I thought Anderson had a decent game yesterday. Some of the passes he was making were really quite incisive. They were the kind of passes that he'd typically misplace when he'd try them previously or they'd be easily cut out. Lovely pass to slip Nani in for the fifth goal.
