The old Man Utd Thread

I would've taken a draw going into the game, but what a collapse. Jesus. My stream only went down for a minute or two, and when I found a new one it was all square. They could've won it at the death, too. All we needed to do was keep the fucking ball for a few minutes... I can't wait to see how we fucked that up on MOTD.

Fuck sake, they switched off at the end. Again.

Still, a point better than we got last season.

I don't know about that, we're not Arsenal. A two goal lead going into extra time should basically mean the game is won. We're great at running down the clock usually. I can't remember us throwing away points so dramatically before.

As I said, I would've taken a point going into the game, but it's very difficult to swallow when we had a (deserved) two goal lead at 90 minutes.

I had the stream on mute - what was Moyes going nuts at the ref about at the end?

The ref blew when they looked like they were about to have a scoring chance. I'm not sure about the specific rules, but they usually wait until an attack has petered out.

Only heard it on the radio but sounded like Atkinson blew the final whistle pretty much as Everton were crossing it into the area - wouldn't expect anything less from him to be fair.

Well, it's not about an attack petering out, it's about the ref playing the correct amount of time and then blowing when that time has passed.

So, considering that there were two goals scored within that three minutes of injury time (and, going off the justification made last season when Owen scored 7 minutes into injury time against City), you would think that there would've been more time to play than three minutes (or 3.20, whatever it was eventually).

How about against Fulham?

I could see us letting the goals in at the end, no idea how/why, and we shouldn't have done so - taking Evra off probably wasn't the best most when Park could've replaced Scholes.

And a fair few last season.

Bayern Munich home and away anyone?

We were known for being solid if we went in front a few years back, now i'm rarely confident we won't concede at least one goal a match.

Also, how many games a season can Giggs and Scholes play 90 mins week in week out? We aren't going to get an international break every other week and with Rangers and Liverpool to play in the new 7 days, they are going to struggle unless they get most of Tuesday off. But who have we got to come in? Carrick, Anderson and Hargreaves are out, so its Park and Gibson...

Worrying.

On the plus side, Nani and Berbs were really good again today, although we wastelfull at times, which ultimately cost us.

When is Rafael getting a game? if he doesn't play on Tuesday i'd be shocked, if he is our future right back he needs to be playing, not Neville.

Evra was really bad today, which was odd - hes usually so solid and dependable.

That is all.

If Neville plays against Rangers I will fucking kill myself. He just let Baines put the cross in for the last 2 goals without even attempting to put a challenge in, you might let him off for the first one but when you've just let in a goal from that position don't let it happen again! I can maybe understand not including Rafael when experience is an issue but that was just about as experienced a team as we could put out. How many PL winners medals were there on the pitch? At least 30 I reckon and thats excluding Neville.

I do now fully expect Neville to play RB for most of the season and for me to moan about it after every game. :(

Scholes needs a rest, no way we should be playing him midweek against the likes of Rangers. Realistically, we should hope to give Anderson 30 or so minutes at the end as he's nearing fitness. An appearance from Macheda and Fabio, or any other players on the fringes of our squad would not go amiss either.

Didn't Anderson aggrivate his injury playing for the reserves this week?

I didn't think playing O'Shea in midfield was particularly bad yesterday, he was clearly there to keep tabs on Fellani and did a decent job of it. I doubt he'll be in midfield come Tuesday though. Will be interesting to see what Ferguson does with Berbatov though, he'd normally be left out of the CL games but he's in form at the moment so might be a good idea to keep him playing, especially has he has the International break off as well.

Ah feck. All I heard is he'd played. I was looking around for some info to see how he and Rio had done (who I'm not even sure played), but nothing. If true, that really sucks. Apparently Carrick could be out for a month still too. Fletch will be playing every single game for the next few weeks, it seems. Hope he doesn't get too knackered.
