The old Man Utd Thread

Evans wasn't as bad as everyone seems to be making out right now, O'Shea was though, Rafael should've had a go there, despite his stature not being as imposing as Johns.

O'Shea was awful against Newcastle and was just as bad today, it was his mistake that led to the goal/penalty-that-wasn't-given (I can't remember which). I assume we'll see Rafael in the Carling Cup game.

I agree that Evans wasn't as bad as he was made out to be, he got done for the first goal but other than that he was alright. Zamora's chance for Etuhu that just went just wide was offside anyway not that the linesman bothered with it. The one positive we can take is we're technically +1 point over last season!

We're not in the Carling Cup yet though, round three isn't it?

Heh, true that.

Scholes is a genius. To bend it into the net through such a packed box is incredible. We will never be able to replace what he gives us in midfield either, it's amazing to think we all thought he was probably done five years ago or so.

A draw away to Fulham isn't terrible really, considering how they finished last season. It is a game we could've and should've won, and it is points dropped. What else do you expect from United in week two, though?

As a Man U and Fulham fan I felt it was a deserved draw as both sides dominated at different times and if anything Fulham had the better chances.

What wasn't on was the refereeing. The ref had to have seen that Vidic shirt pull on Dembele. He pulled so hard it made a fucking tent. So the ref lets that one go and then gives a penalty when Duff knees the ball into his own hand stood completely abandoned on the other side of the penalty box. The decision was obscene and it is only thanks to a very promising looking Stockdale that the game wasn't buried there and then.

It seems to have started after a twitter message by someone known to be pro-City so I would probably take it with a pinch of salt. The papers seem to have picked it up after he didn't play in the reserves win over City's reserves Elite Squad (). There were a few first teamers getting well-needed run-outs too which would have stopped any chance of him getting in the team.

The reports generally say it is taking him longer to settle in than expected. A matter of weeks ago he was playing in Portugal's third tier and has now moved to the biggest club in the world in an alien culture of which he doesn't know any of the language. I'd be more surprised if he had settled in that quickly!

Pretty inclined to see them face off Rangers, nip up Norf to see family, come down on the ferry and try and hop through Amsterdam then to Valencia to get the away game, then overland to Turkey for the final away game.. I can't see any of the teams doing anything, especially if we're fielding full-strength squads who've had over a month to get into gear, Ibrox is perhaps the only place we can afford a little complacency. Bearing in mine we didn't storm through the group last season (went to see the 3-3 CSKA game, phenomenal end), I'm more interested in seeing who we'll be paired up with if we win or come second in the group.

So, Valencia, Rangers and Bursaspor in the Champions League draw.

Could have beena lot worse, Valencia aren't the team they were now Villa and Silva have left.

Rangers fans get another chance to smash up Manchester though <_<

The fuckers spoiled our parade!
