The old Man Utd Thread

I was wondering, and this seems like the best place to ask:

Where am I likely to be able to get the Manchester United 2009 Away Kit?

It's one of my favourite United kits of all time (I think the new one is alright, I just don't like white, really).

JJB, sportsdirect will be cheaper I imagine.

Barton's porn tash is also very unsettling.

I didn't notice it from the stands, obviously because there isn't a whole lot to notice. Anyway, his every touch was booed from start to finish, much as you'd expect. He was probably their best player though, annoyingly.

I thought Newcastle looked like a team that will go down, unless they get it together. If we'd been on song we could've really sliced them apart. Rooney looks like he'll still essentially be in pre season for a few more weeks, getting 45 minutes here and there. He was quite crap, strangely enough Berbatov seemed to be doing all the heavy lifting. Nani and Valencia need to get back into the swing of things, but I'm sure that'll just take one or two games.

Vidic, Scholes, Van Der Sar, Evra, and Fletch all looked ready to challenge on all fronts, though. Quite a positive opening game in all, very unlike us.

Kitbag?

The official United online store.

Both only had the womens version :(

Don't ask why I didn't get it when it came out. Because I have no idea.

I thought it was appropriate to put this in here, rather than carry on in the Football thread;

Giggs wants to manage United or wales after he quits playing. He said this yesterday. AND NO-ONE TOLD ME?

Anyway, for the forseeable future this thread is now about whether you would prefer Solskjaer or Giggs to succeed SAF. I previously was saying that Moyes would be good, but can he really compete with either of those two? Nah.

If we were actually going to be serious contenders for Ozil's signature we would have stepped up the efforts before signing Bebe. I honestly don't think Fergie is that interested.

I think we might need someone in midfield, it depends if Carrick/Anderson/Hargreaves can either step up their games or in Hargreaves case walk again. Without someone in midfield we risk being over run in big games, Scholes was brilliant last night but I just get the feeling that against more substantial opposition he'll get rushed and not have as much time on the ball

I think he was, but I think the player pretty much wanted to go to Spain and get big bucks.

We're still being linked with Defour too, he plays pretty much the same position as Ozil.

Shame though, I bum Ozil, I do.

You mean like what happened in the Charity Shield?!

Besides, is Ozil the answer for that position?

I'm not arguing the fact that Ozil wouldn't have been a great addition to the squad, just that we don't necessarily need anyone to bolster the midfield. You say Chelsea hardly looked sharp, but this is the same Chelsea who walked all over an, admittedly early relegation candidate, Wigan side. They looked sharp enough then and it was the same team that stepped onto the pitch.

I have complete confidence that if we were to add nothing to the squad in this window we would be able to fully cope with anything thrown at us this year.

Anyway, Ozil could be another Poborsky anyway! Nobody knows anything about him besides his WC performances. ;) (Here's hoping anyway!)

Yeah, I can see Kaka leaving next summer, it's not like he wanted to go there in the first place. Obviously depends on how much of a hit Real will take on the 50 odd million Euro though!

As much as I would love Ozil at the club I don't think he's really the solution to our biggest problem and that's central midfield. He might be able to get away with that position in slower, less physical leagues but I just can't see him working in our 3 man midfield. You can of course play him out wide up front or in a 4-2-2 but whats the point in relegating one of two players who were brilliant last season to the bench? The only other option was to replace Berbatov with him but it's clear he won't be leaving so that's a no go.

When you look at some of the players who didn't even make the bench yesterday (through injury - Anderson, Hargreaves, Rio, Obertan and then left out - Owen, Fabio, Cleverly, Gibson, Brown, Neville) we've got a massive squad to cope with the season ahead. If we bring in any more players I would prefer a deep lying midfielder to essentially replace Hargreaves.
