Also:, did anyone see this earlier?

Reminded me of when someone on the website went mental and put Robbie Fowler and some other crazy names on the squad page. I think Michael Owen might have been on there too, was a few years back. :D

Looks like he could be a winger/attacking midfielder but has either played as a striker or started off as a striker.

Does make all the 'Ferguson has to convince Glazers that Ozil is good value' rumours a bit daft considering we've now spent £25 million on 3 practically unknown players in the last 7 months.

He's going to be fucking awesome, isn't he.

He's amazing really, the amount of excitement this lad is creating is huge! I just hope it doesn't become to much expectation for him thats all.

As for the new signing, well its a shock I guess seeing as they was not one story regarding the transfer. I think Marca had a story saying he was going to sign for Madrid which is probably worth the £7m alone!

Also heard that he might be able to play on the wings or as a "Attacking Midfield". Either way, Fergie/Quieroz must have seen something for them to go out and pay the release clause - only 5 weeks since he signed for his former club too!

I guess there is money there to spent, if SAF needs it too.

Awesome, another striker

Well, it would seem he's more of an attacking midfield type of player who can play right, left and centre. Thats what I've heard from the snippets of information I've found on the net anyway.

Chief executive David Gill has revealed that United's pursuit of Bebe only gathered pace during the course of this week.

The Reds stunned football by announcing the prospective capture of the largely unknown Portuguese striker on Wednesday evening, and Gill sees the deal as further proof of United's investment in raw potential.

"He's a player we've been following, but he really came on the scene in the last week or so," Gill told MUTV. "We looked at him, spoke to a number of people about him and then went out and secured the deal yesterday.

"It's exciting. He's a potential player, and a lot of Manchester United's focus is about getting players who have the potential and then getting them under the great coaching of Alex, Mick, Rene and other people. He can fulfill that potential with Manchester United and I think it's going to be exciting. Let's hope it works out."

Bebe's arrival hinges on a successful medical later this week, and Gill moved quickly to play down suggestions the 20-year-old will be immediately sent out on loan. Instead, Bebe will be given the chance to assimilate and prove himself at United.

"He'll join up and be part of the first team squad this season," said Gill. "I think he'll probably stay this year. (He is) a boy who has to learn English and integrate into Manchester United, and he's really come from nowhere in a lot of respects.

"I think he'll benefit from having day to day coaching from some of the best coaches in the world in the Manchester United way. He'll certainly be with us this season and you never know, we'll see what happens."

Hmm. If we were to send him out on loan immediately, it would probably have to be to a spanish speaking country. He wouldn't learn anything about English football, and it probably wouldn't help with the language either. Maybe it's better to have him in the reserves, then try and loan him out once his English is good enough?

Makes sense for him to spend a year at United. He's going to get the best coaching there and get used to being a Manchester United player. Plus, our Portuguese speaking players can help him settle in to the club and living in England.

Must say, I can't bloody wait for the season to start! I love the excitement that a new season brings, plus I'll be at OT on Monday night :)

Newcastle are going to be so very up for this, there certainly won't be any potential for a 6-0 thrashing in reply to Chelsea. I'm not expecting anything other than a win, but if our start to this season is as slow as usual, it will be quite a slog. I'll be in the south stand.

Looking forward to David Pleat calling Bébé "Babe" when he next commentates for one of your games.

edit: also hoping that pronunciation catches on, so that when he scores in a Champions League game, Clive Tyldesley can say "That'll do pig, that'll do".

If we get an early goal I think Newcastle will fall apart. Once their heads go down it should be easy pickings.

What the fuck is Newcastle's game plan? They are literally playing like they have a one goal lead, how do teams expect to win if they play 9 man behind the ball from the get go?

Barton's porn tash is also very unsettling. Still a nice easy game to get us going is very welcomed, good finish from Berba too.
