True, just thought it was a curious article to put out all the same given previous speculation.

Yeah I suppose so, but it has been quiet time for the papers as far as transfers lately so you never know

United rule out move for Joe Cole :D

I guess a free transfer is out of our price range?

An obvious sign we are going for Ozil instead.... right? *clutches at straws*

Judging by the one-on-one he just had.. I hope not. Getting Hargo back would be as good as a new signing - not sure we need much else aside from chucking Carrick in the gutter and a new attacking centre midfielder.

Unless i'm mistaken that is now all our players out of the WC so should leave us with a fresher team for the start of the season.

Cracking goal by Hernandez (to add to his other composed finish) and according to FIFA stats he's been the quickest player at the tournament so far. Quite looking forward to seeing him play for us now!

It's a shame we never got to see Memo Ochoa at the World Cup (and surprising, as he was first choice keeper for Mexico's qualifying games), as he's a player I'd really like to see at United now we haven't got VDS for much longer and we've sold Foster. We were linked with him a couple of years back (although obviously it never really came to anything) but I think he'd be a great signing. He's 24, fast, athletic, calm, a great shot stopper (and is actually decent at catching) and most importantly, could possibly be quite cheap as he's not signed a new contract with Club America yet and only has about a year left on his current one (and he's said in interviews that he'd like to play in Europe). I have the slight worry that if we don't sign him Arsenal will have a punt and he could turn out to be rather special.

Anyone else think Schweinsteiger is the perfect player to come in to our midfield? If I was Ferguson I'd be asking for a chunk of that Ronaldo money to go and sign him.

Other than that I think our squad is looking good. Hernandez looks quality and I can't wait to see him play. The Da Silva's will be a year older and wiser and I think will have good seasons, and I'm looking forward to seeing Nani after some much improved performances last season. Can't wait. :)

I'm more interested in Ozil at the moment.

I was going to mention him too but didn't want to appear greedy. :)

Cracking player though yeah, would love to see him join us as would any team in the world I'm sure.

I think the official site keeps a running total of the transfers we've been linked with and it's already well over £1 billion!

Cleverly is putting pen to paper on a three year deal which is nice although the rumours still seem to be suggesting he'll be off to a bottom half PL club on loan. Can't wait to see Hernandez play, he does look tidy and maybe he'll give Valencia a run for quickest player in the team!

An Italian paper suggested we've gone in for Cambiasso and i'd be quite happy with that although Ozil looks like being the man in demand after the WC. You'd fancy Bayern to go for him but you never know. VDV at Real is another interesting one.

Mesut dreams of Prem move

Germany superstar Mesut Ozil has hinted he may emulate Michael Ballack by playing in the Premier League. The midfielder, 21, will be central to the Germans' plans in their quarter-final clash with Argentina tomorrow. But he could soon be tempted by the Premier League's millions, although Spain's La Liga also appeals. Ozil has just a year left on his contract at Werder Bremen and insists he will not allow anything to take his focus off events in South Africa. "The World Cup is all that matters at the moment. When I get back we can think about my future. To the top players the Premier League is attractive. You look at what Manchester United and Chelsea have achieved and it would be easy to be successful at clubs like that. Trophies are what matters. There are two teams in England always at the top. But the same is true for La Liga."

Don't know why i read this shit anymore, but don't get my hopes up Mesut! you know I'll read too much into ambiguous comments!

Well yeah, i was more commenting on the fact that we waited until his value doubled to make a bid.

Oh yeah, I agree. If Fergie was keen on him he should have got him as part of the Ronaldo deal

I doubt Inter would sell him or that he would want to come to us really.

Unless it was misquoted Moratti said something along the lines of "I didn't look at the offer in case I was tempted". Hardly a 'hands off' statement so this one could go on for a bit.

I doubt it, hes settled into Italian life and the team better than could be expected, he seems happy there, hes even getting married in Italy soon.

Inter don't really want/need to sell him either.

We're a year late.

Ozil please.

Of course, but it's a team that to some extent will be broken up and remoulded with Benitez in charge. Sneijder hasn't exactly committed himself when there were rumours of Real re-signing him either.

Don't get me wrong the chances of us signing him are slim but if we are bidding for him I don't think it should be completely ruled out.

I think the chances of us signing any 'big name' player are pretty slim
