His crossing's not as good as Valencia's though ;)

I agree, Valencia is easily a better crosser of the ball than Neville. In fact, in the last two games Neville has played I cant remember one decent cross into the box. Certainly didnt do it against Everton.

Great to see Vidic back last night. Evans still has a lot to learn from him about winning headers in the air. Scholes was great again. He shit himself though when he had that glorious chance foe the 100th goal. Cant say I was overly impressed with Gibson. He's decent making runs onto the ball from midfield and cracking off thunderbolt shots but he is defensively poorish. He knows he is slow and thus rather than getting tight to the opposition he stands off them for fear of getting turned easily. I hope he can do Fletcher and come on over the years if he gets the chance.

Moment of the match tho had to be Noble trying to take a West ham corner quickly in the second half. Mido ran over for the quick one but Noble kicked the corner flag instead, hahahahaha.

That's a bit unfair, I remember Neville put in a wonderful cross against Everton, a pacey diagonal ball from the edge of the 18 yard box, unfortunately we had no one who get on the end of it.

How was Anderson last night?

Defensively he's completely past it. Offensively he's the best crosser of a ball in the team.

As has already been said, he isn't a patch on Valencia but as much as he can occasionally still put a decent cross in, he just doesn't have the speed to track back any more if the ball is picked up by the opposition. So he ends up leaving a massive space at the back which drags all our other players out of shape to cover for him. His defensive frailties far outweigh his occasional decent attacking cross.

Besides that, when attackers are running at him and it's a man on man situation he can't cut it in that department anymore either. The number of times I've seen players skip around him this season, or he'll struggle to get away with the ball then pass it straight back into danger is ridiculous. Again, this leaves our other defenders to try and pick up the pieces and leave themselves out of position.

He's past it, plain and simple. Anyone can see that. I just don't understand why Fergie can't.

The best moment for me was Rooney winning the ball from the keeper well outside the box and near the corner and trying to curl it in from some distance.

I'd love to know how many players we've had injured and how much time they've spent out this season. It's felt like a ridiculous amount.

It seems like as soon as someone comes back, either they get injured again immediately/sent off or it happens to someone else.

Will be interesting to see what Ferguson does against Milan now as i'd have though Anderson would be a dead cert to replace Carrick in a 3 man midfield.

He should just go mad and put Petrucci in there. Although Petrucci is not registered for the CL, that just makes it even more of a bold move really.

He's young enough to be on the youth list isn't he? Or is CL registration completely different to the UEFA cup?

I've not thought this through at all, I just have an obsession with seeing Petrucci play as he was talked about quite highly before he joined and also AC Milan bought him off me for £10 million last time I played Football Manager

Oli you div!

If SAF was so inclined, I'm pretty sure he could play him. UEFA registration requires an 'A' list, which is the standard list of 25, and a 'B' list, which is usually everyone else under 21 (I think). This came up for us last season because Ramos didn't even bother registering some of our youngsters on the B list, because he was an asshole and seemingly determined to wreck their careers.

Continuing Hargreaves gloom.

Here

And Hargreaves spoke of the emotional moment that Richard Steadman - the player's doctor - told him he had never seen such bad tendons during his 35 years of surgery, revealing the extent of the problem he is experiencing.

He added: "It was a dark day, hard to take because this was coming from a guy who was 72 years old and had seen a lot of knees."

Shit on a stick.

Poor guy. That's pretty bad. Really hope he does actually recover.

I really can't see him featuring for United in any meaningful way ever again. A bit like Neville, but he hasn't got a career threatening condition to use as an excuse.

So today, no Edwin or Rooney? Seems like they're not taking this cup particularly seriously. I could understand t in the rounds, but they should at least put the strongest team out for the final.
