What a goal from Everton. Well deserved too seeing as there was a blatent pen disallowed earlier.

Are you talking about the Rooney jump with minimal contact? That would have been one of the harshest pens of the season if it had been given.

Title to Chelsea, in all probability.

I predicted they'd win at the start of the season, but our loss today seals it for me. We jet don't have the quality in our squad to rotate as much as Fergie likes to. Yet again Neville's position may as well have been left vacant and given to a more attacking player with the amount of use he is these days. I didn't really see the point in swapping Berbs for Scholes either. He was playing better than Rooney up to that point, so to swap him for an ageing, slow midfielder wasn't a positive move.

Pretty pathetic for the millionth time this season. We really do deserve nothing.

To be fair 4 in a row was always going to be a stretch, and a defence of Neville/Raf Evans and Brown is just not good enough to win a title. Most people were saying we had no chance at the beginning of the season after losing Ronaldo, but if we didn't have our defensive injuries this season its quite likely we would be on course for another title (and there is still a very small chance this season).

Still in with a shout but it's Chelsea's to lose. Coming second in prem, Carling Cup final, knockout stages of CL is still a decent season considering all that has happened.

Drogba against Man united's current defence, that's a scary thought right there......

The weird thing is the current defence coped with Drogba quite easily earlier in the season, I'm still hoping we have Ferdinand and Vidic back and fit for that game though.

Title race isn't over, we just need to not fuck up and Chelsea need to fuck up.

Evans is going through a bad patch, and Neville is past it. Though I have great respect for both players, neither should really have played on current form. I guess the sun was in their eyes when the balls were coming in, and Everton played a great game and put tons of pressure on our defence, but we never really looked settled. I really hope we get Vidic and Ferdinand playing again soon, Evans is clearly not ready yet for the week in, week out pressure of a title campaign. I don't get why Rafael didn't play either.

Rafael was out because of the game in mid-week and the opportunity for Neville v. Neville. I don't see why the majority of comments about Neville are calling for him to hang his boots up, I'd not be that annoyed if he did at the end of the season but I don't think he should, not yet. A wanting for a settled squad has built-up though, or at least a squad I'd play! Owen is wasted on the bench, ten minutes is not enough and Diouf is proving himself nicely, I can see him becoming quite the player next season.

He's still got a wonderful cross and a great tackle, but the problem is covering the ground needed to do both these things. He leaves us very exposed, and obviously Valencia can cover but that's not what he should be spending his time doing. He can't cover the ground, which has a knock on effect all over the pitch, and I feel for all his experience and talent he is now a liability. As for Rafael not playing because of the game in midweek, he's young and should really be able to play all the games we want him to.

Indeed, I was just trying to reason why he might not be playing. Neville shouldn't have to run back that much though if he's playing skipper, especially with Evra on the same team. Brown/Evans weren't on top form at all, but hopefully all this will lead to Evans/Smalling in the future which, hopefully, will supersede Vidic/Rio. Hoping for an absolute mauling of West Ham to get the confidence of everyone up.

Relations between the world's No1 footballer and the manager who enticed him from Sporting Lisbon at 18 years of age remain unusually cordial. Ferguson says: "I got a text from him last week saying: 'I miss you so much.' I'd texted him to say happy birthday. He was 24. And he said he missed me, and 'thanks for all the kind things you're saying about me'. You appreciate things like that.

"He had six years with me. We have to be grateful because he was a fantastic lad. Great lad. Popular in the dressing room, popular with the staff, and he made a great contribution to Manchester United

I miss him so.

To be honest, it would've been better for everyone if he'd moved on a year earlier. His heart wasn't in it, last season. You can see he's gone up a gear at Madrid, incredibly, and is now playing the best football of his life. I just wish it was for anyone but Madrid.

Liverpool? Chelsea? City?

You what? He was excellent last season regardless, and helped us in no small measure to a third consecutive Premier League title (somehow a fourth isn't looking very likely at the moment).

Probably in the order of preference that would actually go

City > Liverpool > Madrid > Chelsea

So yes, hypothetically I would've hated it more if he went to Chelsea. I was more saying if he'd gone to any of the other big foreign clubs I wouldn't have been so annoyed. I just can't stand Madrid, I find the way they throw money about almost surreal, even for football.

Of course he was brilliant in his last season for us, but he still lights up the pitch when he's not totally focused. He cares about playing for Madrid, which he was struggling to do for United in that last season. Massively subjective.
