Cracking result last night I think. I know it wasn't the best game of the season but it was never going to be. Both teams didn't want to lose that one and it showed. However we controlled the game throughout the 90 minutes and they only ever looked to be one team going to win - and we did!

Credit to Valencia too, after a slow start he looks like maybe he's found a bit of confidence (his last outing included), thought he always looked a threat along with Nani who both managed to support Berbatov fairly well.

Managed to get the record for most games unbeaten away from (excluding the Final last year as thats counted as neutral) which now stands at 14 I believe to cap of the night.

Hopefully no body picked up any injuries (apart from Fabio) for the weekend and we can further worsen Liverpools start to the season by beating them on their own turf!

Ferguson said that Fabio only had cramp so he shouldn't be out and I assume he will play against Barnsley on Tuesday.

Valencia is starting to strike the ball really confidently, the play just before his shot that rattled the crossbar was excellent.

If it only cramp then good, apart from two moments of indecision where we were lucky not to get punished it was an impressive display from him. He plays just like his brother only with a bit more composure.

I think height can be an advantage anywhere on the football pitch, but it's only needed for centrebacks or a 'classic' style of centre forward. Small, stocky players can have excellent balance and mobility. Evra's ability to turn on a dime and recover from bad situations, as well as pass a man are both good examples of this.

I just listened to the last two Football Weekly podcasts and my god they are hilarious. Apparently (before the CSKA game) we are going to be found out soon, possibly by CSKA! Brilliant stuff.

Just watched the last 15 minutes of the reserves vs Blackburn and have to say Obertan really does look quite good. Bags of pace, decent close control and good vision too. You can see why Arsenal were interested has he more often than not played a pass rather than run into a blind alley, even against tired defenders. We should get to see him against Barnsley next Tuesday. Interestingly Rafael didn't play at all so we might see him on the bench this Sunday.

;) EDIT : @ oli

Apparently Evra is fit but Rooney and Fletcher are still doubts. No mention of Giggs so I assume he will be OK as well.

Rooney out will be a big loss and if he is I suspect we will shift to a 4-5-1 like against CSKA. Fletcher would normally be a massive loss but Gerrard is looking likely to miss the game and their midfield looked terrible against Lyon. If Babel plays his pace could be dangerous but there is little danger of them passing their way through to goal so I expect to see (if Rooney and Fletcher are injured) a Giggs - Anderson - Carrick - Scholes - Valencia midfield with Berbatov up front.

Will be interesting to see if Ferguson goes with Vidic or Evans, the latter has looked far better with attacks coming through the middle so I would prefer to see him playing to be honest.

The rumours around Liverpool's injuries are that only Gerrard will miss the match.

You laugh, but just imagine if he was playing. Go on bloody imagine it.

I fucking love Owen Hargreaves

We could do with him too as Sky Sports are reporting that Fletcher is definitely out. Still don't know about Rooney and no confirmation on Liverpool's injuries yet either. Gerrard hasn't trained yet this week so I would be very surprised if he played but Torres/Johnson look likely to be involved.

Fletcher should be a big miss although as I posted previously Liverpool's midfield is hardly looking deadly at the moment. I do think that we will now play a 4-5-1 with Scholes/Carrick/Anderson in midfield as just playing two of them tends to leave the midfield a bit open and lacking in control.

I think Vidic will play too, Evans may have defended better but with Liverpool's record at set pieces this season Vidic could have a field day.

Excited personally, the clocks going back and making it seem like it's all an hour late is a cruel trick mind.

See what you're saying about 3 in the middle and it's a big possibility, but Scholes played midweek and is even more a yellow card waiting to happen than he's ever been. Off the bench for Scholes... hopefully it'll be Carrick and Fletch with Giggs and Valencia really bombing those crosses in.

He'll make room for Anderson I suspect, but then again Carrick and Ando together is far from ideal which makes me think your 4/5/1 is more likely if the Fletch stuff is correct.

HMM... one thing I do greatly agree with though is the importance of Vidic offensively. Giggs' and Valencia's delivery will be key.

Was hearing on R5 last night that some boy from the Times (iirc) has done a financial phorensic report on the top 4 after Benitez greeting about lack of money, he has the second highest net spend and is second only to Chelsea and almost £80million more than Uniteds, then if you include player saleas its £95million!

Heres the facts.
