The old Man Utd Thread

Well there was a goal on exactly 90 minutes and a substitution at 93 minutes, so that adds on 1 1/2 minutes. Ta da!

It's all at the officials discretion...it just seems they generally feel a bit more generous when Man U are chasing a goal at Old Trafford.

Adebayor - £26m

Tevez - £25m

Lescott - £24m

Scandalous amount of time added to help the home team - Priceless

Welcome to the top four, n00bs!!

Giggsy was absolute class today, regardless of his age. City's performance and Bellamy's aeroplane celebrations were not.

Corkin game of football. The 2nd half was Utd at their best. High temp and bombing down the wings. Balls flying into the box, chances, saves, goals.

Looks like its also gonna be another week of papers filled with how Utd always get decisions, extra time blah blah blah. Remembering back to the game Fergie never went near the 4th official or gestured for time. Just before Utd got the free kick which led onto the goal he returned to the dugout sort of accepting that it was gonna end a draw. I dont understand how Utd were meant to have influenced the ref to add on time even though it has already been proven to have been legitmate added time.

I dont care, makes it all the sweeter that City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal fans cant accept Utd won a game they certainly derserved to, on the 2nd half performance alone.

Foster looked shaky from the start, though he did pull off a great save or two. We really need a world class Keeper.

Owens finish was great, he deserves a full 90 mins at some point.

Nah, Foster is gonna be there for a while, keepers always drop a real clanger now and again, hes shown he can be great just needs to settle in to playing regularly i think. If GIven werent at Citeh then i'd suggest him but theres not many shit hot keepers about really, that i know of anyway.

Anyway, cracking game and we absolutely battered them in the second half. Fletcher and Giggs were excellent and although Anderson doesn't always track players back like he should I thought he did well and is looking confident again. Ferdinand should be taken out back and shot (by Evans) though, that attempted pass was beyond a joke.

How about Carrick then? Clearly out of favour and looks low on confidence and form. When the rumours of the Anderson bust up were going round there was a similar thing about Carrick that didn't seem to get any coverage. Might be some truth to it.

He was obviously at fault for City's first goal, and there's no doubt that Ferdinand dropped a real clanger with Bellamy's 2nd but I felt that Foster shouldn't have been beaten at the near post like that.

It reminds me of the days back with Tim Howard in goal, he was a good goalkeeper and capable of making some amazing saves, but there was this feeling that the back 4 weren't totally confident with him in between the sticks.

Foster was at fault for the first one, Row Z that muthafucka! But for Bellamy's second, Ferdinand was cocking about, was never going to catch Bellamy haring away from him. Foster definitely slips otherwise he definitely wouldn't have went down in such a retarded way.

We definitely deserved the win. Much better team in the second half. I feel sorry for Berbatov, he deserved a goal only for that pesky Given. He has been brilliant this season in my opinion and I hope people don't judge him on his goal tally. He has been very unlucky.

Actually, Given only made one really good save from Berbatov. The one which was straight at him Berbatov should undoubtedly have scored, and he should have done better from that beautiful outside-of-the-boot curling cross from Giggs which most strikers would have buried.

Really? Is that the one that was from a tight angle and looked a tad too high for him to make the right contact?

I'm going to have to watch it again if I'm honest as I was so tense I can't really remember all that much from the game apart from the key moments. I seem to remember a period of time in the second half where we seemed to be camped in the final third for 10 minutes which included Berbatov's couple of headed chances.

Disappointed for Foster too, fook knows what he was thinking for the first goal. He'd already been warned with Tevez charging down a clearance. And he should have done a lot better for the third. Just when he was making strides and looking a lot more confident.

Yeah, I'm sad for him too, but all the goals were easily as much the responsibility of the defenders in front of him to sort out before it got to that stage. Saying that, he should have done so much better getting Bellamy's feet on the 3rd goal and just should have booted it when Tevez came calling the 2nd time (both Tevez incidents came from back passes layed a bit short on a slow rolling pitch), maybe the reson he didn't boot it the 2nd time was because the rebound from the first could have gone anywhere.

I wish there wouldn't be this yo yo of opinion every time he makes a mistake/great save. This was probably the biggest game of his life so was understandably nervous, when it came down to it, he didn't have a lot to do the entire match, fewer opportunities to make a good impression and less to even out the bad. He been at the club a while and Fergie knows better than any of us how good he can be, hes hardly Massimo Taibi is he?
