Tosic looks ok yeah?

Looks confident and made a few decent runs but didn't manage to do anything at the end of them. I think he'll do well this season though.

Pretty standard pre-season game really, decent performance marred by a couple of howlers from the keepers. I thought Anderson looked sharp all match and Berbatov too in the first half. Typically indifferent performance from Nani who seems to who have reverted to never putting the early ball into the box.

I thought Anderson was very hit and miss, and he looked like he's returned to pre season a bit porky. Berbatov looked good, along with Rooney and Nani was indifferent, but you'll always get that with wide players. Overall I thought Nani did well.

Still not overly convinced with Tosic though, I've watched him quite alot now (reserves and the U-21) and I'm still yet to see anything to get excited by. Jury is still out.

I thought Anderson looked a bit worse in the second half but was probably the most consistent in the first. Played some lovely passes with the outside of his boot. I though pretty much everyone looked a bit porky bar Berbatov who looked even thinner! My issue with Nani is that his decision making isn't improving like Ronaldo's did, he still won't cross without fannying around for too long by which point the box is crowded.

Interesting article/interview with Fergie here.

Talking about how Owen will be played, Ronaldo going (and coming back), pragmatic persuit of Benzema and trying to sign Ribery.

This thing with Owen makes me wonder whether he ever considered bringing Beckham back in a similar way, of course he has never been available on a free, but if he had...

I think he'd absolutely take Beckham back, if it was the right move for the club. There's no animosity there anymore. Ferguson has shown he does not hold many grudges, he even brought Jaap Stam back as a scout last year.

The quote about Owen's deployment excites me. It means we'll see Berbatov and Rooney playing together a lot.

Yeah, same here. Berbatov and Rooney have the potential to make an absolutley devastating partnership, and thats why he was bought last summer. If all goes well there is no reason they couldn't get 20 goals each next year, and with Owen coming off the bench I think there are goals aplenty in there.

I'm very optomistic about all this, I realy just want to see Valencia play and see how he works with our system, if all goes well I think we'll have a good year.

After Ronaldo left I told the mrs that I wouldn't be surprised if we see him in a United shirt again. Fergie and Ronaldo clearly have a strong relationship and although it is unlikely Fergie will be manager if or when that opportunity does arise I really wouldn't be surprised if it happens.

Ferguson has also been talking up Macheda after todays game saying he has been the sharpest in front of goal at training. Like you guys I think Berbatov and Rooney could make a really excellent pairing, especially as they will pobably be given the freedom to swap positions up front. I think Rooney will hit 20 goals this season but I don't know about Berbatov. I fancy Owen to get 20 goals though, he's shown already that he hasn't lost the poachers instinct and that is something that we've been missing since Solskaer. Really looking forward to seeing more of Macheda, his goal against Villa was probably my favourite moment from last season, it just summed up everything I love about United.

Valencia will do well, he was already a pretty 'direct' player when he started at Wigan so there won't be too much Nani-ing around the edge of the box. I'm really excited about the start of the season, i'm just hoping that the side is more settled than last year. Midfield is the only area I really worry about, not in terms of the quality we have but in terms of getting some consistency in there.

I've only seen some of todays match but all I want to know what kind of fucking diet Giggs is on. He looks fitter and more energetic than players 5 years younger than him. I think he could play an important part this season although somewhat unfortunately at the expense of Scholes.

I'm liking the look of Tosic's balls ^_^

(What I meant to say is that he whips a good early cross into a dangerous area)

He did put one of two good crosses in the first half, but in the second half when the opposition put pressure on us he didn't manage to do much. It's clear it's been in the gym but I still see him as being very lightweight for the Premier League.

I'd still pick Nani over Tosic every time as I feel that Nani as got that ability to do something special and win a match, where as Tosic is a more steady player.

Very much looking forward to seeing Valencia in action in the Audi Cup!

Let's hope Owen Hargreaves gets back to full match fitness, we missed him so much in the Champions League final.

Hargreaves and Fletcher were missed, but I don't think they'd have made much of a difference on the night.

I am hoping Hargreaves makes a speedy and full recovery, I know Sir Alex is confident of him coming back in September so hopefully we can start seeing him regularly by late October/November.

To be fair he did only play about 13 minutes in the 2nd half, and he is a midget.

Those two players were exactly the players we were missing that night! We had no-one to hastle Barca when they were on the ball, we were always backing off and then booting it up-field. Fletcher and Hargreaves are the best players we have at running after balls and breaking up opposition play.
