The old Man Utd Thread

I'm glad, as a Liverpool fan. You won't be able to replace Ronaldo, not with a player of the same quality. And it doesn't really matter if you do buy 2-3 world class players too much, as you already have a bench filled with superstars. You'll still be the best squad in the Premier League. I've got a feeling you won't win the league next season though. I think Chelsea or Liverpool will.

You had your chance this season, and blew it.

I honestly don't think you'll do as well next season. Hunger to win comes from winning. This season you won nowt and I reckon that'll affect you next season too.

Good luck without Ronaldo next season; he single handedly won you three leagues and a European cup. Unreplaceable player, only Kaka or Messi could fill his boots, you could go for Ribery but Bayern aren't a selling club and considering how muck Kaka and now Ronaldo have gone for your not going to get much change from that £80m. Also how much of that money is going to go on transfers? I wouldn't be suprised if a portion of it goes to paying off some debts

I assume by that token you think Man Utd won't be putting up any kind of challenge for the Champions League?

We didn't win anything last season either, but we pushed on and did vastly better in the league. Next season, if we have a fully fit Gerrard and Torres all season and Man Utd are minus Ronaldo... who knows?

People probably said similar stuff when they sold Beckham. And look who replaced him?

We still haven't replaced Keane yet, but that hasn't done us too much harm in the silverware cabinet over the past three years while we keep on searching.

Infinitely better team player and thats the issue that people have with Ronaldo, he never has been and likely never will be a 'team' player.

Also rumours abound that Sporting what Nani back on loan with Mountinho coming to us. Not convinced getting rid of two wingers would be the way forward especially when we already have a few players who can play the AM role. Interesting none the less.

your not seriously placing Beckham in the same league as Ronaldo?

In terms of value to the team Beckham probably set up as may goals as Ronaldo scored. Thus you can compare the two.

Yes Ronaldo is great, but his tantrums this year he made many fans like myself think the time has come to say goodbye. I would prefer a winger to come in who will do more all round work for the team, and one who has a better attitude. I have lost track of how many times this season Ronaldo lost the ball in a tackle, fell over and reminstrated like a child for a free kick. Mean while the other team ignores this and goes on the attack. Perhaps you can get away with this in La Liga but not the premiership.

At the end of the day he didnt want to play for United. Good luck to him at Real. United have let better players than him leave and have always survived. Im not going to start slagging him off because he is going. A fantastic player, change of attitude and he can be even better for Madrid.

Thats the point; you've never let a player of Ronaldo's quality go before, you've let very good players go, and some once great players who were past their best, but never a world class act like Ronaldo in his peak. This is new president for Ferguson's regime

That's the first time I've heard Ronaldo described as at his peak since May 2008.

You need to strengthen in midfield and Moutinho is potentially better than anyone you've got there atm. Not the biggest lad but he's quite feisty. He's a much better option than Nani, assuming Valencia and Ribery come in for width.
