The old Man Utd Thread

I don't think there will be much fear from either teams, as I said before, they both expect to come out winners. There will still be one side that is heartbroken, but I don't think either of them are afraid of that. I doubt it's really in their minds, losing.

As for the 'smack-talk', journalists will always find the quotes to back up the story they wanted to write in the first place.

Gibson has put Hull in the shit.

I'm conflicted.

Also, I thought Rio was due to play today to proove his fitness? I guess that means he is either definately going to play Wednesday, or definately not play. ;)

Has to be said, Gibson has shown on more than one occasion to have a wicked long range shot. For all the hope Liverpool fans had a fortnight ago of a battling Hull helping them out, they were dreadful and the kids barely had to break sweat in the sun. Well, Nani certainly didn't bother to. Hull's players did nothing today to deserve those post match celebrations. Fortunately for them, Newcastle and Boro were worse than shit.

The game felt really strange and by the end of it I was almost willing Newcastle to score against Villa as Hull were absolutely dire.

I thought we did pretty well today considering the somewhat random make up of the team. No creative force in midfield which clearly hampered us and some slightly over-selfishnes by the attacking players likewise. De Lait had a really good game, there were rumours he was only bought in to provide cover for the reserves (possibly after Shawcross went the other way) but was given a contract this week. Very tidy in defense and overlapped well. Wellbeck looks better every time I see him, some of his ball control was lovely and he really does have that strage rangy style of play that at times looks clumsy but really works. Can't say too much about the forwards as they didn't get an awful lot of the ball. Nani did alright but his decision making can be woeful at times. Frustrating as he has all the skills to be a top player.

I also really hope Eckersly makes it as with Scholes retiring soon we need to get another ginger in the team!

Yup. Macheda isn't ready yet but is showing good promise, I really like the look of Welbeck but he's being played out of position. He's a natural forward and the boss has said he'll play there once he bulks up and grows a bit. This was a game where Nani should have shone, he was one of only a few 'senior' players playing against a very poor Hull side. He was shit, once again. Sell him, he's useless. I thought Martin did well and De Laet had a steady game, and I'd never even heard of him before today.

I think it's hard to criticise the forwards too much when they got pretty much no service and were only able to get the ball by dropping deep. Fergie apparently told Capello that Wellbeck will be in his World Cup squad because of being able to cover the wings and up front. I suppose Erikson took Walcott on less...

Wellbeck looks so immature though. I know he's young, but his decision making yesterday was terrible. I suppose I just think he should be a bit more advanced for his age and that because he isn't, I don't ever see him becoming great.

Bloody hell, he's only 18 years of age. I'll just remind you of a certain somebody called Ronaldo who spent his first two season frustrating everyone and look how he matured.

The main thing is you can see he has raw talent, he was beating people with ease yesterday and looked brilliant, the only thing that let him down was his decision making. Sounds familiar, right? He showed yesterday that he's ready for more first team action next year, and I can't personally wait to see him.

I thought Nani did well in the first half, didn't really get involved in the second.

But yeah, fuck it, we should totally sell him! :D

He's completely rubbish. I don't see how it's even debatable really. He can't dribble, can't pass, doesn't ever look up, and occasionally scores a belter. That's his entire game. He is overlooked by Sir Alex for Park, Rooney, Ronaldo, Giggs and next season Hargreaves and Welbeck.

There's no harm keeping him on - seeing how he develops. He's not complaining about lack of first team play, and he looks like he's working hard, even if the end results aren't inspiring. Some players take a while to settle - Ronaldo for example - we've made the investment, and our squad is deep enough to cover him - so why boot Nani out until absolutely necessary?

I watched some beach football the other day and after someone from the other teams staff slagged off one of his players he got in an argument and gave him this little bitch slap. Fucking brilliant.

I thought he had been given an open position, in that if he wants to come and work at United he can, obviously not as manager though.

He's not completely rubbish though, his first season at Utd showed us whats he capable of give a chance in the first team. I admit he hasn't had the best of seasons this year due to whatever reasons but I'd still keep and give him chance to show his potential which he quite clearly has. He's got ability in abundance its just we don't see it consistently.

To say he can't pass or dribble is laughable, he's got all the raw talent to be a success, its just about him fulfilling that and under Sir Alex I think he will, given time and a chance to do so.

If Cantona was to get into management and have some success with a team then I'd love to see him at Old Trafford, not so much if he just came in without any past experience in management.

Thats like Newcastle getting Shearer in.

I'm not sure about his tactical prowess or his ability to motivat epeople, but he'd look cool as fuck on the touchline at OT

Tottally! Collar up on his big black winter coat, arms crossed, 5o'clock shadow :)

Could you just imagine him going toe to toe with other managers on the touchline? Ferguson may rant but you at least know he wouldn't hit you!

They might as well move the coaches seating area into the stands the amount of touchline bans he would end up serving!

If that’s true that is bloody brilliant. I love the bloke, he seems to be smiling in about 90% of all pictures ever taken of him plus it’s one of those lovely smiles that makes you feel all warm inside. I’m gay for Anderson aren’t I :)
