See I have this little niggling thing where I just have to show a cunt he is a cunt. When I read something that is worthy of sensible discussion I reply sensibly, and try to use my knowledge of the game alongside facts I have read. When I read ridiculous statements and off the cuff remarks it deserves nothing more than what I post, the stuff you like to call trolling. Now the vast majority of the time you make good posts. CKNY, fatbob, and Bowser also. Although I may not always agree with you, you tend to use facts and realistic opinions to form your posts. The likes of JLR, Phresh, Trigg, that sly fuck tbb, and poppalarge all say shit that doesn't hold any water what-so-ever on a regular basis. Some of you guys must see that!

Whatever you're doing, kindly do it without being an arse

Thanks

By taking the comments in here way too seriously, becoming offended and then combative. Or trolling. One of the two.

what are you on about! how am I taking shit too seriously? I made a few jokey comments and a couple of points.

then silly cunts like tbb wanna talk about my mum and dad. My Dad is dead, I could have gone apeshit, but I didn't, although I pray I bump into him somehow so I can spin his jaw round his head. The ones running to the cops are taking it too seriously

but according to Guardiola that is what they are expecting. For them to have the ball and for you to be defending, basically sums up what he apparently said.

Got a link for that? Would be interested to see his comments, he's always been really respectful and down to earth whenever I've seen him talk.

My Uncle told me about it, I'm lookin for a link for ya.

I didn't mean it to sound as if he was being disrespectful, I know he wouldn't, I like Guardiola for the reasons you've said.

Though I see how it sounds when I've para-phrased it like that!

EDIT: he basically says that they won't change their style and that they will attack and score goals and Utd know this. He seems to expect Utd to play as they did last year by the sounds of things, but I'm not so sure myself. However he was being completely respectful. It's in the guardian.

oh right ok, I was completely unaware that football manager was around 20 years ago.

A quick look at some screenshots shows I may have been playing 'Football Manager' on the spectrum (or possibly a Memotech MX512 if my memory does not deceive me) and was released the year I was born, 1982! No idea why I chose United, although with hindsight it was a pretty good choice. Maybe the coder was a United fan and gave them the best stats, although saying that it will always stick in my head that I couldn't beat Doncaster Rovers. Childhood memories eh.

what's that got to do with price of chips?

are you trying to say I don't have a valid point then?

That is exactly what I'm saying!

The first football managers, definitely well before my time anyway. 90s child here. Anyway, I know a Chelsea fan who has supported them since he was a child simply because he liked the colour blue. I know a Blackburn fan who supported them simply because he could afford the ticket prices and he could get cheap train tickets to games. Unlike, say, the closer Manchester United. Both massive fans. It doesn't really matter why. Chelsea have been as successful as they ever have been in their history recently, and yet their support hasn't gone up much. Well, outside of Africa. Kinda kills the "glory hunter" theory.

Heh, I know a lifelong Arsenal fan who was attracted to the colour of their socks.

When I was 6 or 7 I supported Arsenal because everyone else in my school did. I was allowed to stay up late one day in 1988 and I saw Liverpool LOSE a game of football. I fell in love with them right there. Never looked back.

Why would I be bitter?

I'm in this thread and all the other football threads on a regular basis Trigger, so no, I'm afraid that one just isn't quite cuttin' it.

Because you're a Liverpool fan and you don't like Man Utd very much, you've made that much obvious over the last few months.

Just because you don't agree with someones opinion doesn't mean its any lass valid or its wrong, thats your problem. Football is very much about opinions, opinions which more often that not differ from person to person. For some reason, you're far too fucking stupid to realise that and come in and spout more shite than myself, JLR, Phresh and my sly lover (as you like to think) tbb could ever manage.

I reckon we'll set up rather cautiously if I'm honest. Its the best way to beat Barcelona at the end of the day, they failed to break us down last year in the Semi Final with the same setup and Chelsea almost managed the same feat this year with a very cautious counter attacking system. I'm more or less certain we'll use the same kind of system and look to break when we can, and we're one of the best at counter attacking.

I reckon it'll be a front three of Rooney, Park and Ronaldo with Ronaldo playing as the lead striker. Anderson, Carrick and Giggs in the midfield 3 and the back 5 picks itself all being fit and well.

I think you're probably right. The only possible change I could see is Park in midfield and Tevez up front although I would be surprised if that were the case. Giggs over Scholes in midfield for me, Barcelona will try and close us down quickly and Giggs has the ability to take it past players and open them up a bit more.

It's going to be difficult to predict what will happen as we have no idea who will end up playing for Barca. We have a rough idea on the defense but until we know if Henry and Iniesta are fit we can't say what the midfield/attack will be.

Haha, FATElol!

I agree that lineup might be the one he'll go for Trigg. I'll be personally gutted for Park if he doesn't play, but I definately think he's a good choice against a team like Barca anyway.

Well, he played in both Semi Final games last year, so I reckon he's got a fantastic chance to play in the final.

Phresh, I think if Tevez is to start, it will be in place of Park with Ronaldo moving to the right hand side and Tevez as the lone striker. Its a position I don't like to see Tevez in though if I'm honest, he just doesn't have the attributes to do it for me.

I'd be tempted to actually start with Berbatov as the central striker, he's got the ability to hold onto the ball and bring others in to play better than anyone else and that might prove very useful in a game where we wont see as much as the ball as we're accustomed to.

The one doubt would be Ronaldo would have to play on a wing, and he's not a fan of the tracking back unlike Park and Rooney.

It's actually really difficult to pick a team, shows how strong we are as a squad.

Yeah, my suggestion was the only way I could see them lining up other than your original suggestion (and what I expect the lineup to be).

I can't see Berbatov starting, we aren't going to have loads of possesion so speed is of the essence when we do break. The third goal against Arsenal in the CL is exactly what we'll be aiming to do against Barca, break at speed with Rooney, Ronaldo and Park.

The key battle (if it needs pointing out) is going to be in midfield. You would expect Giggs/Scholes to be solid so the onus really is on Carrick and Anderson to have excellent games. Will be interesting to see if Fergie sticks Anderson on Iniesta if he plays (in the centre). As strange as it sounds i'm not massively worried about the Barca attack*. The only strikers that have given Vidic/Ferdinand problems are Torres and the big strong front men and Eto'o is neither of those by a long way. Our defense is better than theirs even on a bad day so i'm far more confident of us containing them than vice versa.

God, i'm already hyped for this and there is still a week to go!

*Just to stress i'm not saying they won't be dangerous, just that I think our tactics will contain them and their centre forward is less dangerous than others we've played against this season.

I can't see Berbatov starting either if I'm honest, I just think he'd could be useful in the final third with his ability keep the ball and bring others into the game. When he plays, we keep the ball a lot better and he links the play fantasically. Unfortunately this really is a game for the more quicker players we have, which is why I think Tevez and Berbatov will be on the bench.

And I'm thoroughly excited too Phresh, although I'm now looking forward to the Hull City game a lot more as we're on Sky. Watching some of the younger lads play without pressure should be interesting to watch.

I assume all the matches will be on Sky in a multi-screen red button frenzy?

The yougsters did well against Everton so they really should be able to cope with Hull (even though it will probably be a 'weaker' team than that one). Will be interesting to see who he plays at CB though, Ferdinand won't play and if there are any doubts at all about him for the CL final then I can't see Evans playing either because of his reucurring ankle problem. Vidic might play but I really don't think it is worth the risk. The twins at full-back assuming they are injury free. Gibson and Scholes in the centre with Nani and Tosic/Wellbeck on the wings. Macheda up front with Berbatov or Tevez.

The reserves have been playing so well recently that he could just stick out that team knowing they are playing well together!

Surely if you wanted to play cautiously, defensively Berbatov would be first on the sheet of forwards?

I suppose, keeping the ball is his game. For me Scholes must start, maybe Giggs can come on for him later. Again, he's just great at keeping possession whilst still doing something positive with the ball. They could both start, with Anderson and Carrick either side of Scholes, and Rooney and Ronaldo either side of Berbatov. I love Tevez, but he will just run himself into the ground, perhaps he's an option for later in the game if it gets a bit too settled.

It's possible that Park could start instead of Berbatov, with Ronaldo playing through the middle instead. I'd probably prefer that, Park is less likely to shirk his defensive duties, plus our attack would have more pace overall. We've got so many great players, they can't all play a role I suppose. Would be odd if the likes of Giggs, Berbatov or Tevez didn't even get a sub's role though.

Not necessarily, why would he be first on the teamsheet?

Scholes might well start in place of Giggs, I just think that Giggs will get the nod over Scholes on this occasion personally, could go either way of course. I don't think we'll have the ball all that much in this game (not as much as we usually have anyway) and for that reason Scholes will kind of be redundant as he doesn't have the legs to get at them and win the ball back.

Fletcher is a massive loss to us, as I'd have I thought he'd have been a dead cert to start this game. His energy and the ability to get about the pitch from box to box is fantastic. Such a shame he's missing out, for both the team and himself .

Guys i don't know where to put this, but a mate has been given a ticket for the Champ League final via his wifes work, its one of the £63 face tickets. I'm not sure if we are allowed resale on here. As we are both liverpool fans it has no use to us! He is booked in Rome for a holiday that week and was would have went to the game if they could have got 2 tickets. He doesn't really want to go down and sell it at the ground, so is selling it sealed bid style, so if you have any real interest in it, drop me a PM before tomorrow lunchtime.

You gonna say that shit again yeah. I don't dislike Man Utd, I dislike Man Utd fans like you who come across as arrogant, and don't say anything worthwhile. I wanted Liverpool to win the league this year because they deserved to, and it would have been good for English football. I'll be supporting Man Utd in the CL final as I always do when an English team plays in Europe.

I am fully aware that opinions differ. But to form an opinion you should be able to recognise facts, and also be willing to accept you may be wrong if someone can prove so, yet whenever someone does, you say 'oh leave it I don't wanna talk about it anymore.'
