The old Man Utd Thread

Leave FATEone alone. It's not his fault his parent's don't allow him on the internet. He only gets to sneak on once a week for about an hour when his parents are both at the AA. As soon as he's on, he dives in here quoting as many posts as possible and posting some random "hahahahha" quotes because he simply doesn't have time to think of anything constructive if he's going to have time to view the Male Form thread too before his parents get back and send him to bed.

I knew it wouldn't be long before you popped up to try and get your blow in, then run away to be tea-bagged by Trigg. Why is it when Trigg gets brought out you pop up?

Is it something to do with World of War Craft? Is he your general or whatever the fuck it is? do you do little deals where you sell eachother pies and charms and stuff? aaaaah it's sweet I s'pose.

And finally....

What do you guys (the one's who understand and know about football) think the line up will be against Barca?

Although I think Ronaldo would be a lot more effective starting on the wing, I can't see Park not being on the right, and with Messi on Barca's right, it's likely Rooney will play on the left right?

I was saying to Dogsout that I don't think it's gonna be the complete footballing domination by Barca that everyone expects it to be. I can see this being a really really good game, with Barca getting a big fuckin shock.

I don't think Barca will be in for a shock, they're a team full of humility instilled by their manager. They'll know they're up against one of the very top two sides in Europe (the others being themselves) and will treat the match as such. They know we can play, they wont expect, or get, another Chelsea style stifling.

Probably very similar to the team that played at the Emirates, same system too. Obviously without Fletcher; Park or Tevez will take that role (edit: and by 'that role' I don't mean the actual position more the harrying of Barca)

-----------------VDS-----------------

O'Shea---Vidic-------Rio----Evra

Anderson---Carrick----Park/Giggs

Park/Tevez---Ronaldo---Rooney

I don't expect Berbatov to start.

Oh I see, I thought it was something to do with the player of the year awards.

What is it supposed to mean? It means that you have just outed yourself as someone who doesn't have a fucking clue about football. You decided to support ManU after playing football manager!? that speaks for itself!

What is trolling? Is it pointing out the endless amounts of bullshit you attempt to pass off as knowledge?

You really are a fucking cretin. Apologies if my 8 year old self didn't have the rational of your good self, but how a decision I made almsot 20 years ago effects my knowledge of football is beyond me, although i'm sure you'll help clear it up.

I think Fergie will want to shore up to left side a bit against Messi, we barely managed to keep him quiet last year and were lucky on occasion, but I think that was obviously as much to do with him being in and out of fittness as much as anything. Alves will be a big loss for them going forward - arguably one of their best players this year, would have loved to seen him at United, so there will be a conflict over whether to play someone like Rooney or Park, even Ronaldo on the left and try and exploit the gaps, or to play someone like Giggs or even Anderson there to harrass that area, although that this also applys to the right with Abidal out. Its a real shame Fletcher is missing he would be ideal for the latter. Either way Evra will need to be on form.

but according to Guardiola that is what they are expecting. For them to have the ball and for you to be defending, basically sums up what he apparently said.

I know he seems like a troll, but there are some genuinely strange people on forums, you know. That said, his timing to come into this thread and mouth off, just after we've won the title, does seem a little "for the lulz". Some of the time he posts sensible things too, which could either be because he's a real person or he's just throwing us off. A committed troll, if you like. The last few pages certainly confirm something's odd, anyway.

There's a great deal of belief in either side at the moment, it will be a shock either way. I think both expect to win this.

Never spoken to Trigg in my life. I assume he's capable of fighting his own battles.

Fact 1 - 0 FATEone

Never played WoW in my life.

Fact 2 - 0 FATEone

Anything else you'd like to get completely wrong?

well if I had could be arsed, I'd go and find many examples of when Trigg is being shown how wrong he is and all of a sudden you come wading in, but I can't be arsed so I''ll just wait till the next time it happens as I'm sure it will and point it out then.

oh right ok, I was completely unaware that football manager was around 20 years ago.

The first football managers, definitely well before my time anyway. 90s child here. Anyway, I know a Chelsea fan who has supported them since he was a child simply because he liked the colour blue. I know a Blackburn fan who supported them simply because he could afford the ticket prices and he could get cheap train tickets to games. Unlike, say, the closer Manchester United. Both massive fans. It doesn't really matter why. Chelsea have been as successful as they ever have been in their history recently, and yet their support hasn't gone up much. Well, outside of Africa. Kinda kills the "glory hunter" theory.

Could it be that there is some other common thread in your back and forths with Trigg, like say United and Liverpool? And that perhaps tbb, who is a United supporter might take an interest in replying to something you've said? Rather than because he's gay for Trigg?

If you read his original post he referenced "some ancient football manager game", which is admittedly rather vague. They did, however, exist before Football Manager. A quick look on wiki suggests that one of the earliest Championship Manager games was released in 1992. Now I'm no expert on that particular sub-genre of games so there may well have been some earlier than that. But let's take 1992 as the start point, which would make it 17 years and close enough to the 20 figure being bandied about. Crazy!

Hmmm. I'm not isolating your comments in this thread. It's just that they are the most recent but.. Doesn't ring true. Are you sure it's nothing to do with them winning the league in 95.

Kids do associate themselves with winning teams. It's an unfortunate fact. I never suffered from that malady being a city supporter but plenty of people seem to. Support Robins?

See I have this little niggling thing where I just have to show a cunt he is a cunt. When I read something that is worthy of sensible discussion I reply sensibly, and try to use my knowledge of the game alongside facts I have read. When I read ridiculous statements and off the cuff remarks it deserves nothing more than what I post, the stuff you like to call trolling. Now the vast majority of the time you make good posts. CKNY, fatbob, and Bowser also. Although I may not always agree with you, you tend to use facts and realistic opinions to form your posts. The likes of JLR, Phresh, Trigg, that sly fuck tbb, and poppalarge all say shit that doesn't hold any water what-so-ever on a regular basis. Some of you guys must see that!

It's a football thread. Some real crap gets posted here. Don't take any of it personally, it's just the nature of the discussion, including yours. Unless you're trolling, in which case continue as it's quite amusing.

Nah, it was in about 2005 he started supporting them, after they'd been back in the Premiership for a few seasons. I don't think he ever mentioned them winning the league.

Strange. Who did he support beforehand. Presumably he could get the met to Bury, or train to rochdale, oldham or stockport?

I guess. I think he was a bit of a casual supporter of United and Altrincham. Yeah, I thought it was a bit odd, but he got really into it.

You don't say...

:)

Missed that. Yeah, I just mean they're both convinced that they're playing the best football on the planet at the moment, and that they have the greatest player on earth in their teams. Anyway, should be a good game.

I think it's time to reply to every post you make with a :)

So your gonna reply with nothing of substance then, you do that already.

I just tried for 5 minutes to find a post of yours where you actually try to discuss football, so I could show that it is equivalent to your hatsoff reply. But I couldn't find even 1.

All there is is: Rooney fell over :(

Giggs is great :D

Vida ^_^

Gabzy I love you :o
