The old Man Utd Thread

Didn't realise what time the games are on next weekend but it appears we can win the title before their next game. Now that would be awesome! I still think we'll win relatively easily tomorrow and the way Wigan played today that should be 3 points. That leaves us needing a win/draw in the Arsenal game, and as good as Arshavin is I can't see them beating us at OT.

EVERYTHING rests on tomorrow. 3 points and for me, it is over. Draw or defeat and it is game on.

Edit: Actually imagine a last day scenario where....

After losing 2-1 to Man City, destroying Wigan 7-0 and losing 1-0 to Arsenal, while we only beat a battling West Brom 1-0. Meaning we go to the last day of the season level on points but Liverpool having a +2 goal difference over United. Go in to the last minute, United beating Hull 4-0 and Liverpool beating Spurs 2-0, both teams get a penalty.... one is saved and one is slotted away. How many years would we all age then

More than likely though you'll get through the City game 1-0, destroy Wigan 7-0 and play out a bore draw with Arsenal to secure the title before we play West Brom.

The key match (for both sides) was Boro.

It's pretty simple. We've got two bonus games to get our noses in front, be it by six points or one. If we lose today and draw with Wigan or vice versa, I'd still see it as enough. Anything more than that is an added bonus. Yes, Arsenal might have a point to prove at Old Trafford, but not as big a one as they had last Wednesday. And if there's a job that needs doing against Hull, it will be done - either by the players or the referee.

A huge part of me wants it to go down to the final day of the season, as long as Robbie Keane is playing.

Carlos Tevez has admitted he expects to leave Manchester United in the summer and would have no qualms about joining one of the Red Devils' rivals.

The Argentine forward recently strongly hinted that he will depart Old Trafford at the end of the season as he reaches the end of a two-year loan deal in the North West.

Tevez, who has made 16 Premier League starts this campaign, has grown frustrated at his inconsistent role in Sir Alex Ferguson's side and claims the club have made little effort to extend his stay.

He said: "I am very sad about this but I guess what I'm saying is goodbye.

Depart

"I don't think I will be a Manchester United player next season. I have done everything I possibly can but they have never made me an offer or given me a contract so I have to leave.

"I think I will be at another club next season.

"I have not been treated as a member of the family. I do not feel wanted. I feel bad over my situation, I do, but it's very, very difficult to stay any longer.

"The fans treat me like family but United have not signed me so they do not respect me as a footballer."

He continued: "Things have changed dramatically this season. I was dropped - yet I didn't perform badly. Sir Alex never gave me an explanation but I never asked him for one because it is not in my character.

"I accepted it but maybe Sir Alex didn't feel the same way about me. Maybe he didn't have confidence in me any more."

Former West Ham attacker Tevez, who is a crowd favourite among the United faithful, stressed he was settled in England and would consider joining another Premier League club.

Spain

He said: "It's not true my family are unhappy in England. It's not true I want to leave England for Spain. My four-year-old daughter Florencia is learning English and my wife is very happy living in England.

"We want to stay. I want to play in England because it is the best league in the world and it suits my style.

"Any club I join, whether it be Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool or Everton, will be a rival of Manchester United.

"I would like to thank the United fans for their support. They will always have a special place in my heart.

"If I was a United fan I wouldn't want to see their player in any other shirt but I think they will accept I've done everything I can."

Urgh. I just don't know how I feel about this one. On the one hand I'm devastated to read that as I love having Tevez at the club and seeing him play. But on the other hand, I really don't think he's worth the 30M price tag attached to him and can fully understand why the club wouldn't want to spend it. It'll be a gut-wrenching feeling to watch him play for another English club though.

Nobody bar Real would pay 30million for him anyway. For all his energy this season he hasn't show the skill of Rooney, speed of Ronaldo or the ability to hold up the ball like Berbatov.

I don't know why he his continuously banging on about not being signed when United would never have sorted out until the end of the season anyway.

Yeah, the problem has always been that £30m was never going to be paid for him, so Sir Alex has decided to favour a player who he HAS spent £30m on this season rather than one on loan. It's harsh on Tevez and his performances, but it was the right thing to do.

He's off in the summer, he knows it, we know it. I just hope he still has the commitment on the pitch if called upon between now and then. It doesn't always come across that he does in all the interviews he keeps doing.

Well, apart from the bit in the BBC article where he says "I still have the same hunger and I will give my all to win the last two trophies we are chasing so I can move on knowing I have done everything for the team." And based on his performances, I can certainly believe that.

Well, Tevez starts today.

Team: VDS, Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Ronaldo, Fletcher, Giggs, Park, Berbatov, Tevez.

Subs: Kuszczak, Neville, Rooney, Carrick, Nani, Scholes, O'Shea.

what's up with Rio again? And why isn't Rooney playing? Surely we should be fielding our strongest team now to get the league wrapped up as soon as.

On BBC it said it was a calf injury he picked up in training? (Edit: about Rio)

Also from BBC:

Namanja Vidic heads a Wayne Bridge cross away from danger. He heads it further than most people could even kick it.
